- While filming for a new video the gearbox on my Hammer Drill suddenly broke apart.
It seems like there are only a few tutorials and videos available online featuring Black & Decker Cordless Drill, especially with Model - BDCHD18K.
I tried looking online for videos and tutorials. I had no idea how to fix it. but couldn't find any. I had no choice but to figure it out myself.
It was difficult at first because I had to go through a lot of trial and error.
It took me a whole day to get it done correctly!

Thank you for this vid. I've just put my BCD700S-18V back together when I was about to give up & buy a new one. Even though I have a different model, the gearbox is identical. Well done.

Great video! Being the fool that I'm I totally forgot to take pictures while disassembling (had to change the motor) and those two plates in the chuck section really left me scratching my head. The good thing about the gears is that they are slightly different in size and cannot be put in wrong places easily.

Just follow the witness marks left behind by the factory. They're there to help the machine figure out what goes where. You'll see lines, dots, divots and cutaways all over the parts that line up with their accompanying parts.

Yeah mine popped open, catching me out. I got it assembled and everything works... but I have 3 left over parts that I could not place nor find any reference to. I don't understand why my repair worked and it still is. I have clearly made a mistake, Iended up with spares.

I have a b&d epc 12 which is drivin me crazy. After opening for a motor problem now mandrel turns free, no torque at all and you can stop with hand with motor at full speed. It’s assembled ok but i noticed that the external big tunnel gearing is free to move. So the problem i think is on the ball bearings... they are in place but very inside the holes... I don’t understand the principe of this gearing system... 😢

這個容易猜出來不容易裝回去的是用機器裝上去的笨頭笨腦的我們裝不回去的
This is not the right way to fix it!!! You will brake it when the drill will be forced. As you can see the very first set of gears has some dots on them which needs to be aligned ( like the car engine timing )
