I think my favorite part of these CHIMPs videos is the moment you get to around r80 and get the "we're doing really well" and then checking the video length to see how well we're actually doing. Except this time, the video's shorter htan usual, so we are doing pretty well. Great video, as usual! I've heard 3xx/4xx tack shooter spam is a viable strat - interesting to see it in play here!
idk about the 3xx and 4xx, but I know there is a strategy around buffing a 5xx tack with as much pierce as you can get so that the meteor can just shred through everything
Hot shot spam is viable with a 300 or 400 village and can actually pop DDTs fairly well tbh. You can easily get all 3 tier 5 tack shooters and something like 20 or 30 hot shots down, just to kill the DDTs.
The DDT Problem is the reason I go middle path for inferno ring, it increases the pierce of the meteor, making it able to do tons of damage, although not as much as bottom path, to multiple target. It also looks better.
But you can increase the pierce of the meteor with external buffs as well, (not in this challenge obviously) that why i usually go for the 502 with some buffs
the spactory tip wasn’t about overall damage, it was about letting permaspike damage all bloons. ddts on an unbuffed 025 spike are really dangerous, but getting the 205 lowers your overall damage output slightly while letting you pop ddts

In battles 2, I played against someone who used Gwen to buff Overdrive Tack Shooters so they would have lead popping power. They used an alchemist to buff Gwen so that she would be reliable at it. It worked. Their overdrive tack shooters were tearing through camo-stripped DDTs.
I think it'd be cool if you reviewed the map after youve beaten round 100. Show how much each tier 5 contributed as well as how much work the hero has put in. Maybe its even interesting to see how well the spam of lower tier towers has done.
2-0-5 on spike factory is better to stack in the back, 0-2-5 is better if you rely on it for pops. 2-0-5 at max stacks pops more than 0-2-5 at max stacks, but 0-2-5 gets more stacks out in a shorter amount of time. The “better” one depends on how it’s being used because they’re better at different things

Trufax. Moabs absorb the origin point of all tacks when placed against the bottom of the track because the towergun sits atop the track. All tacks hitting at once, does more damage than a ring blast, and is cheaper. Carpet of hot tacks is a valid strat to cheaply chew down ddts if camo is stripped or detection provided.
No 2-0-5 is not always better, it's better the earlier you get it up. Looking at the bloons wiki, it will eon average produce a few more spikes second, however, if you need to get up and use the perma-spike quickly, say like only a few rounds, then the 0-2-5 is better.
I think our dear friend SJB missed the point of the 205.. its to make sure DDTs dont sneak through, not to do more damage to bloons/moabs.. the issue with his run was afterall his 420 spike placement not his 025 crosspath/placement
@@LordElijah 502 is worse in real chimp runs unless you are doing a 2 million pop challenge or are getting absolutely nothing for 100 damage. Its complicated but 500 doesn't need any other buffs then a alch and primary training most the damage comes from the 100 damage 10 pierce explosion with 50 damage every 1s for 4s anyways. 520 is way better clean up then 502 marginally nothing 2 damage buff to the aoe. 520 actually makes the aoe a lot bigger. Its 700 damage buffing the metour to 1000 is just gonna hyper kill moabs making you leak just like horrible 030 alchemist .
It would be really cool for after this series, if you did a series on beating chimps for every map. I’m getting stuck on some medium levels, would be really helpful and fun to see you beat chimps for everything
Tack shooters really are awesome. Tach sprayers in BTD5 do a surprising amount of damage to moabs if you have enough of them. I've found rings of fire don't do quite as much, maybe it's because for every shot the tack shooter hits the moab with the moab is taking at least 6 tacks instead of just one burst from the ring of fire which I'm pretty sure just has infinite pierce but doesn't do more than one layer of damage.
I know the middle 0-2-5 Permaspike is better in terms of raw damage, and better in every way if you through a permabrew on them, but for the purposes of a spike factory only challenge, I would go for 2-0-5 because the damage values aren't extremely different, and my spike pile isn't going to be obliterated by the first lead bloon that shows up.
When I do CHIMPS with towers that can’t pop camo, I usually just use Geraldo as my hero. All you have to do is put him in a corner away from the track, get his Camo potion. I personally feel that this keeps the run as close as possible to [____] troop only.
Sjb, when you are done with all the towers only chimps, you can do maybe only 5-0-0, 0-5-0 ,0-0-5 one type of tower chimps (exampe: wizard monkey 5-0-0 only chimps
just a friendly reminder that village is 100% possible if you use the right hero and the right map. a 500, + 050 can solo round 95 on resort for example. add Geraldo or Sauda and it's totally doable. (of course Geraldo would need to be on the Geraldo 1tc map)
all towers except alchemist have upgrades that allow them to hit camo bloons even if it doesn't say they can in their description. the inferno ring meteor is the one that hits camo for the tacks
It's possible to do CHIMPS tack only and replace the hero with a camo village. Only on Cubism though because the money save up for r24 is tight. No hero makes the challenge feel more pure imo
i think that the 2-0-5 perma spike used to be better before it was nerfed to similar levels as the 0-2-5. so i think they were just stating out dated information

Totally missing the point about the permaspike. If you go 025, in exchange for that extra 100 pops in your specific situation, you lose DDT popping power. So one DDT will eat that entire spike stack. Also, if the permaspike will be around for long enough to max the spike pile, then the faster production is not so important.

I think his test probably did have smart spikes actually and that's why faster production did better. 2/0/5 has 80% increased pierce, 0/2/5 has ~79% increased popping power (1/(.8*.7)) from faster production. Attack speed here actually multiplies, so the smart spikes results in greater attack speed benefits for 0/2/5. The longer the round goes, 2/0/5 does better - but the difference is so small that it's almost negligible. That being said, 2/0/5 was definitely better because of the lead popping power.

205 spike factory is for DDT popping. 025 does not pop leads. It’s less about how many it can pop and more about what it can pop.

For perma-spikes, my reason for getting 205 if I can't alch buff it is so you don't have a single lead or DDT blast through 5 minutes worth of spikes

@@ningnings_randomworld there is no max amount of spikes, rather amount of time they last on the map. I believe for permaspike it is 5 minutes.

Test was done 5+ minutes of gametime.

He didn't die to DDTs though, he died to BFBs. All the DDTs through 98 got cleared before they made it to the perma. So he chose optimally.

Not having any faith in the tack shooter hurt to hear. I think they’re gonna do great though. Tack Shooter has been my favorite tower since the first btd, so I can’t help but root for it!!!
