I remember this first commercial so well. Change was really in the air -- in our society in general. Watergate and Vietnam and even disco were all quickly slipping into the past. There was a feeling in the air of something new coming. WJBK completely redesigned its logo to what you see here and all had a brand new news set as well.

I sorta miss the "TV 2 Is Yours" logo they had a few years before.

I sadly admit the 2 backdropped in the skyline freaked me out a bit as a kid, but at the same time whenever riding towards downtown I always wonder when the big 2 was gonna show up Lol!! I miss this so much, will never get enough of it.... #2Together

With all the station consolidation going on in the broadcast TV industry, I wonder if CBS would consider buying Graham Media to regain their footing in Detroit (Owner of WDIV 4). They also own stations in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Houston which I'm sure CBS desires to own because they are in AFC markets.

And WJBK used to be a radio station too - the first one to play Top 40 in Detroit in the '50s. It's a religious station today (and WJBK-FM is today's WDRQ aka Nash FM).

I remember back in 1977-78 that 2 was wack as all get out. It look uber MEH, thankfully they change it a year later. I left Detroit when I was 10 in 1980 and 2 was still a force to be wrecking with. Still is as CBS 62. I miss Detroit. Long live the former 2.

0:34... That's gotta be Don Paul; he's now here in Buffalo on WIVB(We're 4 Buffalo).

I have to update this... He started his Buffalo career in the early or mid 1980s at WGRZ, then went to WIVB for about 25 years. Now, he's just started at WKBW, Channel 7. Now, you can say he's done the triple play of TV news stations here.
