"The Dark City" is a simple tune, but sometimes those are the worst ones. Got severe writer's block with this one, and had to spend a few weeks figuring it out in my head before I could come up with something that made me happy. This is a jazzy tune, so I played that up with some smooth saxophone in the expansion just to liven things up, without straying too far from the base tune.

Respect for expanding this one. I can understand why it was difficult. The intro sets up the track differently to what you expect will follow. It's surprising how limited the loop itself actually is.

Pretty good, and a proper analysis with what to do with it. You not only played up the jazzy-ness, but also the noir atmosphere that it brings overall.
Given your work with other cultural atmospheric songs, count me in as another one excited to see what you bring to Chinatown.
Eu lembro que quando eu era pequeno e chegava nessa fase, eu ficava parado, só ouvindo a música, um tempão, pois eu sabia que não ia aparecer de novo no jogo, apesar de ter aquele modo, "sound test" eu gostei muito dessa versão dessa música, está cheia de surpresas.
Essa fase é fogo, apanhei muito pra conseguir passar dela, usando aquele especial do pulo alto eu conseguia passar dessa parte do prédio, pior é 2a parte dessa fase que é num viaduto e vc tem se desviar dos carros e ainda tem que evitar de cair do viaduto
@@COSME90 eu lembro disso, como se não bastasse ainda tem aquelas minas disfarçadas que ficam pulando pra lá e pra cá, mas essa parte do prédio da pra passar sem ter que usar a magia de pulo, mas tem que ser muito preciso.
@@Arthur-lf9xg Bem lembrado,aquelas ninjas disfarçadas de freiras são uma praga, ainda bem que morrem levando um hit assim como os soldados e ninjas presentes na fase, aliás a parte do prédio é desafiadora pois além vc tomar cuidado com os soldados e ninjas que estão no prédio,vc ainda tem que evitar ser atingido pelos lasers,essa fase é pouco complicada e a música dela é muito boa,o jogo ainda além de ter fases com cenários variados,tem uma ótima trilha sonora,vc começa nas florestas do Japão,para atravessar os EUA da costa oeste para a costa leste para impedir os planos de dominação da Neo Zeed

For a track called "The Dark City" this doesn't sound that dark - it seems pretty upbeat and calming, especially compared to Ninja Step; I do really like the jazzy feel to it, and the level's color scheme gives me a "Great Gatsby" vibe
So, I heard that you had a lot of trouble expanding this track, so you opted to sample the original track more often than you'd normally do for the expansion - and here, I think it fits really well ☺️ You were able to build on top of the original while keeping the track's overall soul, and that is just excellent ; not to mention that saxophone addition at 3:22 was just perfectly timed 🎷
