i used to think i needed all this bc i watched so many beauty youtubers with collections this big but along the way i realized it’s just materialism because we crave the thrill of owning/buying/having instead of the actual function or value of the products & thinking realistically about what will enrich our lives and inspire us
Agreed, it’s fun buying things, but after the fact lol...the stuff doesn’t really get used
So true! We are born to be consumers, encouraged and advertised to from early childhood to want to attain all these material things, made to think that they will make us happy, make our lives whole. It’s what keeps the wheels of capitalism turning.
It’s such a waste. Look at all that non recyclable plastic, not to mention all the energy to create and transport these items, to be used a few times. No one needs this much makeup.

If I could have just 10-20% of Laura's make up collection, I'd be in make up heaven. I love that Laura's being practical and thinking honestly about the practicality of whether or not she really needs it all & how she always always is so charitable.

Makeup has expiration dates and I would not use makeup that has been opened and/or used.

Boy I wish I was a buddy sitting next to you as you went through your makeup. So many pretty things that would have been perfect for a small program that I, along with and two others, run that help young women who are turning their lives around. We help get them prepared for this change with mini makeovers ( second hand clothing, etc) and lessons on makeup, hair, etc for joining the workforce and society again.
On a different note, you were so brave and impressive with how you kept your focus on the task at hand and didn’t let yourself get caught within too many memories which were almost alluring enough to fall into old habits. You did good! 1:00:11

I know I’m kinda getting over makeup. Realizing that I don’t have to have every new release and that (for me) it’s more important to have ride or die products. I’ve definitely started watching more vlog and lifestyle type videos these days.

It's weird but I listen to this video every night to go to sleep. Something about hearing a friendly voice, combined with the make-up gently clattering in the background really soothes me. It's not too distracting like music, but enough to distract me from any dark thoughts keeping me awake.
