Right… a lot of weight behind it. Trans probably doesn’t like it. I’m surprised he hasn’t upgraded to a 3/4 ton, but it does what he needs and it’s a nice truck.
Came here for "part 2" of the trailer build/review... learnt how to change a tyre with bars. Great video and great details regarding living/working with a trailer
I have 2 spares on my single axle trailer. Been in a similar situation too. My double axle trailer has 2 spares aswell, but I also keep 2 spares for the truck that would work in a pinch. I had a trailer tire go to pieces on a 7 mile trip. Always something when towing!
Like you say, always something. I found out on this trip that a 3 ton floor jack won’t pick up half of the loaded trailer (obviously). I had to use the excavator to pick itself up on the trailer.
@@Andrewactual or when the 8ton jack won't fit under the trailer because of a flat. Haha been there too. My brother and I are impressed by your miniEX skills. Breaking those beads was cool to watch!
@@jacemusgrove3073 it took me about 2 minutes to think about how I was going to break those beads down without my farm jack and not being able to drive over the tire with the truck. 💥use the excavator!
I recently purchased one. You are correct, they are great for this. Even if I had owned it during this tire change it would have likely not been there at that time.
Yeah, I meant to but the load before this one I got in a hurry and left them on my other trailer in Virginia when I headed back to Colorado. Another hard lesson!
Can you have a smaller ramp for tire changing and pull up/back up the good trailer tire on it suspending the blown tire in the air? Does this tandem allow that? Saves fighting with a jack. And wow, who knew, junk valve stems. I guess metal stems all around now.
My dove tail has the ramps slide under on the sides. I covered them with diamond plate over the angels to keep them from bending. I made drop Jack's on each side of the back for support to keep the back of the truck from lifting up when loading or unloading. My ramps are 4 foot long and weigh about a 100lbs.
I have a Dodge 2500 but it had an engine failure a while back, I put a new bottom end in it and now a new top end getting it dialed back in. It’s really close then I can stop using the 3.5 so much!
@@Andrewactual honestly even if I had something that was more meant for towing, id still rather use my ecoboost. I like the creature comforts too much.
I didn't read all the comments, but did you look into the tire center at walmart ? If they were open that would have made life so much easier. Love all the videos by the way , I'm a new subscriber to your channel.
I called in advance to confirm they would service the trailer and had tires, they said if I got there before closing I was good. I pulled in the parking lot, made contact with a curb because someone tried to play chicken with me in my lane blowing two more tires. I limped to the nearest spot, lifted the trailer, pulled the wheels and took off across the parking lot to the tire center with wheels in hand. I arrived at their counter with 30 minutes to spare and they refused me service. I offered them an additional $20 tip if someone would help me and all the techs blew me off so I bought two tires from them and did it myself in the parking lot.
who put rubber valve stems in wheels that hold more then 35 psi? here by law any wheel ad tire that is rated over 35 psi must have the 5 peace metal valve stem, the metal stem, 2 rubbers, washer and nut.. for moving equipment and cars an trucks the best is what i built for my self, a 24 foot 5th wheel trailer with the back 12 feet that tilts down flat to the ground, it run on 2 hydraulic 3"x 24" cylinders with a 12 volt power pack. loading a mini ex i load, un-load off the side all the time, no ramps nothing
They have high pressure and low pressure rubber valve stems. I am not familiar with any laws around valve stems and I’m not sure if China ships these mounted or the place I bought them mounts them but from now on they will only be metal for me and I know not all wheels and trailer tires are created equal. This axle kit lacked information on a lot of the capacities and specs but now I know! That tilt sounds nice, I’m going to need a “low clearance” trailer option at some point.
The tires I have on there now look to be equivalent to the S637’s and it’s still early but they have about 4500 miles on them and I’m liking them! Edit: after this video was published I have since replaced all the tires with An HD Hercules H901 trailer tire similar to your recommendation and put a heavier more quality steel trailer wheel all around. I didn’t realize that was after this video.
@@BlacksheepTyler I am trying to tow with it less as I have an older Dodge 2500 with a Cummins but any time I have to tow a distance I jump in the comfortable truck with A/C seats, quiet, reliable! I towed 10k dump trailer off the “bumper pull” once and didn’t like that much. The gooseneck tows amazing behind it though.
Im impressed the raptor pulled this thing gives me hope lol

Best trailer build video on RUclips! Thanks for the update.
Stop it, I’m blushing.

Sometimes I manually change by choice, sometimes necessity. Good skill have! Thank you for watching.
I'm very impressed with the parking lot tire change!
I’m just glad it worked out and didn’t set me back 12 hours!
Very impressed with your ability to change tires on the fly!

Sweet Easter egg at 30:00. Thought that van was a new project build…. NOPE!!!!
Feel the same on spare tires usually take two with me sometimes 3

Great video! I live in central MO, know exactly the tire shop you had the trouble with. I've never been there and now for sure will never go!
I bet my tooth marks are still in the asphalt!

You can as long as the ramp is tall enough to max the equalizer out but then all your trailer weight on that side is on the one tire/axle.

I put jacks on my last trailer like that, definitely a must! I need to add diamond to my ramps too
Hella impressive changing ….I mean actually mounting a tire on the wheel in the parking lot, while fatigued!
I was freaking out inside my head for a couple minutes about being stranded overnight then came up with a plan and calmed down!
You said the raptor wasn’t going to be the primary tow vehicle but it looks like that 3.5 is doing most of the towing

Just a little bit over fords recommendations!

What motor is in your Raptor?
3.5 ecoboost. Thing is surprisingly powerful.

Battle Damage Assessment?
If you’re referring to the Gator, that was that engines last chance to cooperate. I already had a new different engine ready to go in when I get time!
