@@wolfiewifie Well, I’m glad you’re here! I’ve been fighting Nestle in their dog food schemes my whole life and I’m glad they’re finally getting some recognition!
Bailey, I always worry about your safety. There’s a dark history in this country surrounding truth tellers. You are a beautiful, brave warrior! Please stay safe, we need you. Nestle is just EVIL.
My uncle used to be an avid journalist, and got heavily into politics. He investigated Nestle, wrote a sort of expose on them, and the paper he wrote for boomed during the time cause of this. He then led a protest to the city hall, demanding removing Nestle as the provider of the milk for children at schools. He demanded the milk be supplied by local farmers as well. Needless to say, this protest was a success! The schools in that district only give out milk that is distributed by the local farmers. Not only did he save these kids, and got people talking about the many scandals of Nestle, but he also helped farmers financially in the area- and this, in turn allowed the farmers to be able to support themselves again instead of basically selling themselves to the government (which is a whole dark history in and of itself). I am very proud of my uncle for this accomplishment. He did this before I was even born, and his efforts still stand in that district. He tried taking the issue higher in the government- looking to have the governor at the time sponsor his efforts. Though, that campaign failed. Still, one little step already saved many people and made them aware of greater issues.
I'm 41 and I when I was about 11(1991) I was at the grocery store with my grandma and I had reached for nestle candy and she spatted my hand and sd "those people buy and sell children we never buy their brand". The fact these companies are still multimillion/billion dollar and nothing has really changed is very very sad. Thanks Bailey loved this story!
You can tell she actually cares about the topic. Barely any ads, going after an issue still actively affecting us, a big corporation.. Bailey stay safe, we all love you
Met them at a water convention. The people running the company now are mindful. They say they best way to get water is through your faucets. I disagree, I prefer clean water
I've boycotted Nestle ever since the CEO said publicly that access to clean water is not a human right! It makes shopping difficult sometimes lol. I get the strangest looks when people find out, and I'm really not sure why. I love that you did this video!
A former manager of mine absolutely hated Nestle. He said they were evil and always had been and after watching this video, I've realised just how right he was. He actually banned Nestle products from the vending machines in our offices.
It's really hard not to become cynical and give up in the face of these seemingly all powerful companies, but their power comes from their money and their money comes from us. The people that these corporations exploit and harm are among some of the most vulnerable, people who don't have a voice, but we as affluent western consumers do. Stop buying their products. You give them your money, you give them your tacet approval. Mcdonalds didn't get rid of supersized products because they suddenly developed a conscience about obesity, it was because people refused to buy it and it wasn't profitable for them anymore. Hurt their bottom line and they have to change. They bank on people feeling hopeless enough about their practices to give up trying to change them. The illusion of their omniscience is just that, an illusion. It comes from you, and your money. Stop giving it to them.
Not surprising that no companies wanted their advertisements on this video…too scared of the major corporation coming after their business. Go, Bailey! Keep sharing the important stuff!
I wrote an essay over the Flint water crisis and the stuff I learned about Nestlé made me sick. Their ways are twisted and unfair and I wish they were held accountable.
I too watched that documentary. They are part of the water wars, and this horrible company needs to be stopped. Boycott Nestle!! We don’t need them stealing water and hurting the most vulnerable Americans!!!!
My 6th grader enjoys this Dark History series. After pre-listening to most of them myself, I want to thank you for making these enlightening, entertaining, and relatively clean for tween ears.

I'm literally here because I just noticed Nestle's name on the Purina boxes & wanted to make sure everyone knows Nestle owns Purina. So glad you mentioned it in more detail here, I learned a lot!
My mom used to boycott nestle and as a kid, there was lots of chocolate that she would not let me eat. My mom said that nestle has poisoned children in third world countries and this was the 90s
Right! I’m in the UK and Nestle is EVERYWHERE. But my mum, who wasn’t the type of person to know this stuff, had a rule - no Nestle. All I remember is something about baby milk in Africa. So we never did use them. Go mum!!
I'm literally supposed to be doing an essay on human rights now and my topic is that a healthy and sustainable environment should be a human right. The quote from the CEO of Nestlé about water is going to fit in nicely to demonstrate big corporation greed!
I've boycotted nestle ever since they argued against providing clean water, and have been draining the great lake. The Canadian government has had to fight with nearly and the United States multiple times over the ethical issues and the draining of the lake that borders both countries. I was so unaware of the additional issues and am glad I've not bought any of their products for years.
Except that one PM (Harper) actually agreed with them that water wasn't a human right. It's amazing what companies can and do get away with when they pay for the privilege - and manage to finagle it in such a way as to gain liability protection - and granted by the governments no less!
I boycott Nestle since the 1970s and how they pushed baby formula on 3rd world mothers. They didn't have the sanitary conditions required. Many babies died. But beware Nestle is behind a lot of products.
Not using Nestle products anymore. Unfortunately, I work in the medical field and they also own and make a TON of medical supplies. No way around it in my work, but my personal life, they're out. Thank you Bailey!

You should definitely do more dark history episodes about the 10 major companies that control the global market. I vote for one on Unilever or Kellogg's
@@carol127v its not like she's bringing new damning knowledge out into the open 😀. For instance, everything she talked about in this video is readily available information that, for the most part, has been public knowledge for a long time.
I have been boycotting NESTLE since the Flint water scandal came out. I think that not giving them our money is the best way to send a true message to them to change. Hit them where it hurts.
I have been boycotting Nestlé for years. Read your products to see who manufactures them and if it's Nestlé, put it down and purchase from a different manufacturer; honestly, money talks and if everyone chose not to buy their products, Nestlé would either change their despicable ways or disappear. That's what we can do.
Even more dark history is how who have been complicit along with fda and nstle in the exploitation of people in 3rd world countries. You know those guys trying to sell us all vcs 😅 what could go wrong...
Bailey , I had to be a stay at home mom when Covid started and I got really depressed. I found your page and your stories and humor just helped me so much . Thank you .
If you don't want to remember a NEVER ENDING LIST of companies, just PLEASE BUY LOCAL WHENEVER YOU CAN. VALENTINES DAY IS COMING UP. If you, reading this, avoid Nestlé for Valentines day, we can make a big dent
This! As far as chocolate goes, seek out small, ethical companies that use fair trade cocoa and especially those that negotiate prices directly with their farmers. Do your research on other corporations you support too. I remember a video going around juxtaposing Dove ads and their women-positive messaging with Axe's disgusting misogynistic advertising of the era and noting that they are the same company. Corporate ethics tend to be limited to "whatever makes us the most money" and they hope that consumers don't read into things any more than that. We all need to prove them wrong.
The only thing we can do is stop buying their products as much as possible and find better alternatives. Not only will it benefit us health wise but we would be slowly bringing this company down.
Can be too difficult to avoid, companies like Nestle need to be broken up and we need to pay attention to politicians that actually want to hold them accountable. Conservative and liberal politicians haven't done their part to prevent this.
You're absolutely right. Even if it really hurts. I know I don't want to give up my Drumsticks, Stouffer's Mac and Cheese, or my Dreyer's Rocky Road Ice Cream, but the only way to make an impact is to boycott EVERY product that Nestle makes. But it's not enough to stop eating Crunch bars. We also need to spread this story as much as possible. As soon as I saw the title I knew that I was in for a doozy because I knew what a conglomerate Nestle is but I didn't realize that the infractions were this grotesque. Share Bailey's story with as many people as you can. Some people prefer reading articles rather than watching videos so you can also Google this story in text form and share it everywhere you can. Those poor people in Flint! I had no idea Nestle was involved in that.
While I totally agree to not buy from Nestle where possible, sometimes its impossible. They're aware that there are more people now who a trying to avoid their products, to the point where their products might look completely different to throw you off. In a lot of shops you'll have Nestle products with their logos very visible, but some of their other products will have different packaging and smaller logos, so if you're avoiding them you'll go for the latter without realising it. Which makes it difficult to completely get away from them.
@@punkdebunked8630 you can try your best to shop locally. If you’re “punk” then you should be well aware of this situation and all of the ongoing boycotts and strikes
@@punkdebunked8630 yes, as much as I can find out. It is hard to find them all, because the companies are so interwinded. And I gave up a lot of my favorites. But it is worth it. I buy "fair trade" (I think this is a european term for articles that are being bought directly from growers and do not use child labor) articles, but, of course, those cost more. And I also buy as much as I can organic food for my health. My blood work on my liver has gotten really better. I wish there was a better app to show companies that need to be boycotted.
I have been boycotting Nestlé since the early 90s. The issue then was related to giving out formula in parts of the world with minimal access to clean water. Breastfeeding was the cultural standard and much safer overall. Nestle didn't care and babies died. The company has never gotten better.
We had a necropsy for my dogs in order to charge the neighbor for poisoning them! It was a crazy process. They gave us a small sample of each of their fur in a little glass case.

Finally, now when people ask me why I boycott Nestlé, I can send this video. I have been attempting to boycott them for over 5 years now. I say attempting, because THEY SEEM TO OWN EVERYTHING and it is hard to be knowledgeable on everything to avoid
My cat was slowly poisoned to death with the Purina packets around 2005. It was terrible to watch and we didn't know why it was happening. Our vet suspected poison but thought we'd left out antifreeze that she drank (we didn't, and also this is California) or a neighbor was doing it. We never suspected the food. It was a name brand and we thought that surely it gets tested for quality. I still cry about it sometimes thinking about how we accidentally killed our pet 😥
Purina packets? I need to stop feeding my cats Purina, I work at a Purina factory as a temp I will say they pay their employees well but I've seen how the treats are made its not pretty
Okay, did anyone else notice NO ADVERTISERS!? What, nobody brave enough to sponsor Bailey when she's taking on current dark histery? Or did Bailey not want to get anyone in trouble with Nestle? Which is it?

I haven’t had nestle products in years. My uncle, who is a respiratory therapist, had mentioned to my dad who used to use the coffee power that. All their products are harmful and not healthy for us and the environment. I’m glad she’s covering it. But I pray that her original sponsors will come back.
Being an Indian, I too stopped using Nestle products since 2015 when I did some research on the Nestle water rights statement passed by the CEO. I felt that was just unjust for humanity altogether.

She stressed the whole time an lost her battle 9 months into fighting cancer. She went back to work for a month before she passed. That’s all that was on my moms mind. Fun fact: In college we had a class that had us research companies and we had to make a new logo for them. I chose Nestle and changed the name to Nestless and made the logo of the birds a bird that looked sick and had no babies. All because I learned how bad Nestle actually was LOL.

OK, Nestle owning Wonka candies hurts. But what hurts worse is that they own Maybelline and L’ORÉAL. Goodbye ColorStay foundation and Voluminous Mascara!
I remember when the owner of nestle publicly said “water is a privilege, not a right” so I definitely had to click on this. Edit: CEO stated this not the owner. My bad.

My daughter hair was falling out and my friend got a bad fungus all over her skin. It’s was awful. My cousin passed away from the water and we didn’t even know that our water was switched to the Flint River.
I haven’t bought nestle products ever since I found out about their “formula” and how they basically created a whole generation of malnourished children. I found out about it all doing research for a college project, and I changed my major because of it. It’s sickening what these corporations get away with.

Its so sad because I live across the country and I dont know a single person that doesn't know about it for literally months and nothing has been done this is just insane i feel so sorry for you guys
I had a friend die of brain cancer from flint, AND his 2 year old (now 12) has had brain cancer a couple of times as well! It’s terrible! When we went to the funeral (2017) we were shocked to know they were still using bottled water! He was a US Marine and he died at 27. Left behind his wife and son. Semper Fidelis.
I've recently been learning about Ernest Ditcher, a psychologist who revolutionised advertising by working for companies like Nestle and Dupont teaching them how to persuade(manipulate), us into buying things we didn't need. Just like the baby formula adverts! Literally screeched. Ditcher noticed that they could manipulate our emotions into consuming their products, they also gave products personalities and attached cute things like the wee baby on the ad. Ditcher knew if they could give their products personalities that people will be drawn to them, it was an early form of brand building. People will display loyalty to certain brands if they believe in them/gain their trust. Ernest also noticed guilt people felt for buying luxury items, so slogans like "because you're worth it" manipulate us into seeing consumption as a reward! Advertising on a whole is really interesting topic and there are lots of different things to learn about it, because we live in a consumer society, it's pretty much everything around us.
Nestle also learned through similar research that if a parent was committed to breastfeeding but needed or wanted to start using formula they were much more brand loyal to the first formula brand they used than parents who intended from the start to mix feed or exclusively formula feed. They intensely target women who indicate in surveys that they intend to exclusively breastfeed (EBF) so they can capitalize on that. They also send marketing to EBF'ers at the point when their baby is approx 4 wks old about introducing formula "for when you return to work", knowing that if a woman is fortunate enough to have maternity leave it is usually only 6 weeks in the US.
@Mom Of Three I saw that on "Alan Ruins Everything." It's interesting that the "a diamond is forever" slogan is a pitch to keep people from getting their rings appraised. It's a big letdown to find out the ring isn't worth what you paid for it.
You would stop eating out as much if you read some of the health reports for these places, i used to enter them for the village i worked for, barely ate at places there. Then I was like what about where I live!?!?!?

So I just googled everything Nestlé owns and as for me and MY house, we will NOT be supporting this company moving forward. Already shared this video with all my friends and family. If enough of us boycott the company, they will have no choice but to change. Speak with your pockets! Hit these corrupt companies where it hurts...THEIR WALLETS!
we're literally in an era of tech advancement that it is possible to build a surveillance state to keep eyes on anyone anywhere at all times, and they claim they cant monitor their supply chain?!?!
In New Zealand we track each cow from paddock to plate, from the day they are born. You can find every place that animal has been. And they can't track their workers *cough* slaves? Ok nestle 😒😒
If it’s “impossible” to be certain their suppliers aren’t using child labor, maybe they need to use a different supplier. 🤷♀️ I mean obviously their excuse is BS, but if they really wanna claim it’s impossible, what’s their excuse for not switching to a supplier they CAN monitor?
As a Flint native and resident I am begging you to do a DH episode on the Flint Water Crisis! People are already forgetting about us while some people are still relying on bottled water 💔
You guys in Flint should do a strike and take to the streets. Actually the whole country should but in America unless your directly affected nobody cares. What about getting a petition going on the web. Somewhere like the Jimmy Dore Show would add it as a link.
People haven't forgotten. There are a lot of places in this country that do not have access to clean water and where the natural water sources are so polluted that you can't use them for food, water, or recreation. How are we supposed to help Flint when we don't have anything to drink either? And I guarantee you've never heard of my hometown.
Way to go Bailey!!! I appreciate your platform and your delivery soooo much. In 1992 I breastfeed my baby and my niece that was allergic to ALL types of formula especially that made by Nestle with the permission of my sister. The baby had to eat while her mama was at work and she refused ANY type of bottle!!!!! I get breastfeeding isn't for everyone. I was blessed to be a breast milk making machine despite barley pushing a size B cup!!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Spreading awareness, to as many people as possible about this situation, and how despicable Nestlé is, is something that we all can do. It's something at least.
I don't disagree with what you guys are saying, however you would be shocked at the unethical circumstances many other corporations conduct their business.. keep in mind a lot of cases don't even get reported either if there aren't enough complaints, so many things get swept under the rug. I could tell you so many examples but it would take up too much room on here, it would be ridiculous. But it's disturbing what some companies get away with, everyone would (and probably should) be boycotting the majority of them.
It would be cool if they only did an entire series on the history of different companies and things like this. One I despise is *HARTZ* 🤬🤬🤬 I hate even posting their name.. that that company should have been put out of business over 30 years ago. Actually they never should have been business in the first place
Look at Bailey putting Nestle on blast. I’m proud of you girl ✨❤️ ppl are starting to wake up to corruption and evil thats hidden over decades and this makes a difference

This kind of stuff is what cancel culture should have been used on, the big awful mega corps that don’t care about the lives of others, and not on little dumb influencers
I have a saying, "It's not the distraction that scares me, it's what lies behind it." Influencers are the distraction that keeps us from going after the big things imo. I started saying this a long time ago for other reasons but it still applies to most things we see. There is always something behind the "distraction" that is usually worse AND still ignored.
"Why don't we make those companies accountable, not one another" THANKS! So much SOCIAL problems caused by companies and people jam the "personal responsibility" key as nothing happening has to do with savage capitalism.
My mom told me about Nestle and the baby food being sold to developing countries and how horrible it was for the mothers and fathers of the babies to think they were doing something to help their babies thrive but with the contaminated water it lead to many deaths and illnesses. I was very young when she shared this tough reality and it always stuck with me. I have often set a chocolate bar or other Nestle product back on the self over the years but since so many of their products do not bear their name it is difficult to avoid them all. Corporations do not have a heart beat......
Bailey, the positive takeaway is AWARENESS. Knowing is obviously not enough but now people can't act like they're ignorant to the evils of this world. The rest of us who care, ACTION is the bare minimum.
Honestly that won’t work though, then all those children being forced into work will then have to search for yet another underpaid working environment.. what we really need to do is FIGHT for equal pay.. we can never prevent the children from working because that’s just how other countries are but we can do is either fight for education for underprivileged children in other countries.. OR fight for extreme pay raise if employing a child.. the cycle will forever continue weather it’s nestle or another company..
Nestle owns so many companies who then each make their own products. It would be impossible to find household necessities that are not directly tied to Nestle. They are a monopoly in the market, and their presence in so many jurisdictions makes it impossible to hold them accountable, because once the criminality extends into another jurisdiction, enquires stop
@Tiffany’sBeautyHouse well yes, that I know of. And I'm very diligent with what I purchase. I don't buy anything that's been tested on animals, so I make sure to know exactly what I'm buying, who owns them, and their testing policies, including the testing policies of their parent company.

Ya well nancy Reagan had a baby cage out her window so..
Go your grandma! Boycotting Nestle before it was cool!
My mum was the same. We were never allowed Nestle products.

Can we?

@@calihipechik7657 I dont fully agre there just boycotting 1 product is a start then add bit by bit. And expand. Every little helps
Dark history on marketing would be pretty interesting. And would probably need a whole season X'D
@Mom Of Three I saw that on "Alan Ruins Everything."
It's interesting that the "a diamond is forever" slogan is a pitch to keep people from getting their rings appraised. It's a big letdown to find out the ring isn't worth what you paid for it.
I'm really regretted my choice to eat a Nestle crunch bar right before this episode... You never disappoint, Bailey... 😁
I love how Aqua Tofana makes a special appearance every now and then
Exactly it’s a thing now lol
OMG...I just looked at all of their brands and they own like everything. This is so crazy.
Same, did a quick Wikipedia search, man they own Starbucks ☹️
You would stop eating out as much if you read some of the health reports for these places, i used to enter them for the village i worked for, barely ate at places there. Then I was like what about where I live!?!?!?
@@staybent9380 They have a licensing partnership with Starbucks, but they don't own Starbucks.
I made a comment with a link telling you to search something else that would shock you more, guess the channel or the powers that be do not want to share it.
At the same time as above. It was trilaterall logo then scroll the images till you see a chart then click to see more.
I'm a Ghanaian and all my life, Nestle products have been staple in my life as well as other Ghanaians and Africans. Its scary that myself and others have been poisoning ourselves for years. Thank you so much Miss Sarian for this eye opening episode💕.
You should check out their new scandal with coagulated evaporated milk in Ghana. They’ve dropped the ball on the “recall.”
Yep, thanks for speaking up. No wonder it gets more and more common for pets to have different diseases and allergies.
Intestine problems for my cat I used to feed Purina kibbles, for example. Never again!
So I just googled everything Nestlé owns and as for me and MY house, we will NOT be supporting this company moving forward. Already shared this video with all my friends and family. If enough of us boycott the company, they will have no choice but to change. Speak with your pockets! Hit these corrupt companies where it hurts...THEIR WALLETS!
love this mindset!!
I agree with this - sometimes scary, huge corporations only stop when the money stops! ✋
Johnson & Johnson should be next on your list 😂
That’s the only way
we're literally in an era of tech advancement that it is possible to build a surveillance state to keep eyes on anyone anywhere at all times, and they claim they cant monitor their supply chain?!?!
LOLLL
In New Zealand we track each cow from paddock to plate, from the day they are born. You can find every place that animal has been. And they can't track their workers *cough* slaves? Ok nestle 😒😒
@Reb Couldn’t have said it better myself 😭
& don’t buy nestle owned products
@@ro3464 Me either. The ONLY way Nestle is going to stop is if they're hurting in their wallets
One I despise is *HARTZ* 🤬🤬🤬
I hate even posting their name.. that that company should have been put out of business over 30 years ago.
Actually they never should have been business in the first place
Look at Bailey putting Nestle on blast. I’m proud of you girl ✨❤️ ppl are starting to wake up to corruption and evil thats hidden over decades and this makes a difference
The little scary when she joked around about Nestlé coming after her. Cuz like...would that not be something they could do for real, real? Haha ....
I laugh because I'm uncomfy
Thanks for bringing to light these evildoers! My life has been directly affected by the evil of the corporate world in numerous ways. I wish there was a positive too or a call to action. These guys have way too much power.
My call to action is this - be the change you want to see. And Bailey and crew, never stop bringing this evil to light even if they try to come after you (knocks on wood).
Could you do an episode on Shein? I’ve heard here and there about their unethical practices, and I’d like to see a concise and through investigation done by you and your team 🙏🏻 thank you for always being transparent!
Yea I want to learn about shein’s dark history
Me too!! Please !!
This kind of stuff is what cancel culture should have been used on, the big awful mega corps that don’t care about the lives of others, and not on little dumb influencers
YES
Yes
Absolutely!!
You realize they are the ones who created the woke cancel culture!
"Why don't we make those companies accountable, not one another" THANKS! So much SOCIAL problems caused by companies and people jam the "personal responsibility" key as nothing happening has to do with savage capitalism.
Happens quite a great deal in China too. It’s not capitalism, it’s greed
But but but companies are people and money is speech and 1st amendment is an inherent part of our constitution. How dare you!!!! (sarcasm)
Well said, thank you :)
Exactly. It’s sad that some people are even aware but think it’s doesn’t matter and still do whatever they want 😓
What action do you recommend?
What can we do?
Here's what we can do: STOP BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS! when we buy something we are supporting that company and their practices. STOP BUYING
@katelyn bell I don't buy anything that is owned by nestle actually
@@camb3661 that you know of, they may own a brand that doesn’t call themselves nestle.
@Tiffany’sBeautyHouse well yes, that I know of. And I'm very diligent with what I purchase. I don't buy anything that's been tested on animals, so I make sure to know exactly what I'm buying, who owns them, and their testing policies, including the testing policies of their parent company.
Honestly if there’s a “Cancel Nestle” movement, count me in. Count. Me. In.
r/fucknestle
there is a bit of a cancel nestlé movement rn because of child slavery law suits against a lot of chocolate companies
Me too!
Just stop buying their products
@@alexandrab5904 Honestly, its not as easy as it sounds. Nestle sneaks their disgusting products into everywhere, even under different company names.
I think it's great that you literally have this entire podcast channel. You know, whole thing just hurt. Basically , just so you can put on your detective hat and educate people I think it's amazing
I just recently stopped working for "Nespresso" through a third party company. It's dreadful. Every single one of Nestles companies are rotten inside and out and NEVER take accountability. It's really a joke that companies can even be ran this way
I work in accounting and they are the worse company to deal with that way too!
@A H Yes and I highly advise against getting the machines because they break easily so you have to buy a new one. And the coffee is sourced from child labor. They’ve been busted for it multiple times. It’s also really hard to avoid nestle because they own A LOT of companies.
My mom used to work for them, they have a board/tv that pops up everytime they or one of there daughter companies is mentioned on the internet anywhere in the world. I think my mom said the little bubble is bigger or smaller depending on how big of a splash is being made. They definitely know you're exposing them. I kinda love it hahaha 🤣 ❤️ love ya!
Woahhhhh crazy!
That's kinda scary
As someone who couldn’t make enough milk for my babies no matter what I did, this story has me feeling all sorts of emotions. Thank you for educating me on this topic.
Nestle sounds like Disney when it comes wanting to talk everything over, they own so many networks you'd be surprised.
💯
My history teacher in high school really taught outside the box. She actually told us about nestle and what was happening in Africa with the baby formula. I never forgot that. Well done bailey 👏
That's awesome, i didn't learn about this mess until college social anthropology classes
It is a bit better here in the southern countries of the continent but central Africa continues to be very affected...just an update for you 💜🌍
👍Well done teacher. We had a mass boycott.
