  • Beautiful Historic old house that was actually built in 1750. 20 some years before the Declaration of Independence was created! Don’t want to give too much history away too protect the location but was originally built for a well to do family in the upper middle class. Unfortunately the house has sat empty since the the 60’s-70’s so it’s been decades of neglect and ruin. Still had so many incredible antiques and beautiful woodwork inside. The rosette over the doors were especially unique along with the design along the staircase. Thanks for watching

A really, really neat house. This might be the oldest/most unmolested combination of a house you've ever shown us. It looks like it never had electricity, bathrooms or running water. An experienced couple might be able to save it, but they would need to get the house and a few acres for very little money, and probably have an architect in the family. Thanks for showing it to us.

This is exactly what I was thinking. There are no "modern" facilities at all. It seems to be completely original including much of the furniture. It really should be preserved if not restored to original and be a museum. Such a fascinating look at history.

The sad state the furniture is in makes most of it look irreparable, although it seems a majority of the pieces are there. I was fortunate once to play one exactly like that at an Italianate mansion from the 1850’s in Mobile when touring it. The woman asked if anyone could play and I could. Was a real thrill to play it. Surprised that she let me. Generally can’t sit on or touch anything on these tours.

My grandmother had some of the cast iron skillets like those hanging in that pantry when you first walked in. I sure love those old doors. That wind scared me too. Lordy. I sure do want that wooden shelf /mirror with all those bottles. Odd stair railings to go with the stairs there. They almost look too thin to be functional. Beautiful tho. I'd love a closer look at that old sewing machine in that room. Beautiful upstairs fireplace. That bed to the right is so old, you can see the ropes that helped support the mattress there on the frame. I'd love to have that old wooden box that says SURGE on the side. What a find, and different too. Really cool. Ewwww. A vulture. It startled me there. That attic is huge. And full of awesome stuff. Bet it was gorgeous in the day. The stone in the basement is really impressive. I liked this old girl, and the rustling grass outside.

And in those days, a dirt floor was considered to be as good as it got. You didn’t have to seal underneath the dirt floor. It was just one less place for air to enter your home. I used to visit a family Member when I was a kid that had dirt floors and you wouldn’t never known had thry not hold you. And let me tell you. It was cleaner than most other homes I’ve been in. They used heavy rugs to cover. I think that’s why they used rug beaters bsck thrn. It wasn’t only for beating the dirt out that had been carried in. It was to beat the dirt out from underneath also

Since there isnt a huge amount of water damage i think it must have been well covered with tarps which I think is awesome. So much has been removed, flooring and the like

Beaautiful place Kappy, but I have no hope anyone will save it at his late juncture. When the stone wall of a house like this look iffy, and the floors are collapsing it is not for the faint of heart. Have an Incredible week Kappy, and thank God you made it out of that place!

One of the usual telltale signs of an early/prior 19th Century house over something even from the early 20th Century is the number of Fireplaces. By the Late 19th Century, Steam Heat was taking over. Also Potbelly Stoves where wood burning was more practical.

Awesome house. Finding a letter that old is really cool. Did you end up reading it all? Loved that piano too

Im curious as to why the strings tied on the doorknobs? The house was much bigger inside than what it looks like on the outside and all those antique furnishings such a shame just setting there rotting away. Nice find Kappy!

That's the kind of house that needs tore down. Not the ones that still look like new.

This was once a real nice home. I see someone took time to board the doors and some of the windows. But i don't understand why did it get so nelected. Someone had to care. This is why places get like this, just let them go. So sad.

I love watching your videos, but it also scares me, for you, walking in these places!! And then the wind banging a door...yikes!! 😮
