- Beautiful Historic old house that was actually built in 1750. 20 some years before the Declaration of Independence was created! Don’t want to give too much history away too protect the location but was originally built for a well to do family in the upper middle class. Unfortunately the house has sat empty since the the 60’s-70’s so it’s been decades of neglect and ruin. Still had so many incredible antiques and beautiful woodwork inside. The rosette over the doors were especially unique along with the design along the staircase. Thanks for watching
This house is a time capsule! It’s incredible. It’s so sad to see all of that history and the beautiful antiques just rotting away. So glad you found and explored this one.
I'd love to see this home restored to it's former glory.
If the walls could talk in this house I'd listen intently until they had nothing left to say lol.
A really, really neat house. This might be the oldest/most unmolested combination of a house you've ever shown us. It looks like it never had electricity, bathrooms or running water. An experienced couple might be able to save it, but they would need to get the house and a few acres for very little money, and probably have an architect in the family. Thanks for showing it to us.
It would probably take a million dollars to restore that house.
This is exactly what I was thinking. There are no "modern" facilities at all. It seems to be completely original including much of the furniture. It really should be preserved if not restored to original and be a museum. Such a fascinating look at history.
Thank you, Kappy. “Beauty among the ruins” comes to mind…So much to salvage there. Poor house.😢
Just want to add that I would take any of the bedframes in this home. They were all so nice and in good condition.
Agreed! But good luck getting anything out of this place now! Bit of a death trap! Thank you for watching! :)
This one is a gem. So original; I’m guessing no bathroom? Thanks for such great work, Kappy!
None that I ever found! Probably was last using an outhouse considering how long been empty! Thanks for watching! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 Can you find out through official documents when the house was last occupied, and sold, how much for who lived there, etc? We have the Land Registry in the UK.
I would love to be able to restore some of the beautiful old furniture in this home! The old beds& chairs and especially the gorgeous old piano! Just beautiful!!
Thanks for bringing us this survivor, Kappy! Very beautiful refined, yet exuberant Federal woodwork. How rare to see such elegant "punch gauge and reed work" still intact and not scavenged. The staircase is a sublime masterpiece of great delicacy...Bless you for documenting this home before succumbing to total ruin...Loved it!❤🙏🙌🏚️😢
I know right all of that reeded trim was GORGEOUS! I've seen folks strip out later 1800's houses that didn't have anything near that kind of elegant woodwork that this one had!
@@chrissytaylor5690 So glad to know there are still other's who appreciate this sort of period subtlety! Elegance never goes out of style, does it! ❤️❤️🙌🙌🙂
@@starryknight437 it sure doesn't! 🙂 And I gotta say..... If we don't get to work saving some of this artistry and craftsmanship from these bygone eras.... we'll never see them again! 😔 Modern manufacturing without the human touch can't come anywhere close to handmade woodwork from centuries ago.
You are my favorite abandoned house U-tuber! And this is one of the best houses ever!!!! I love how you respect and appreciate ALL things! Keep up the great work. And please be safe!
Too kind of you! Thank you very much for watching! :)
What a beautiful voice you have 😮
Nah that’s you!
what an astounding video
the furniture from 1800s doors latches knobs etc original
the piano mid to late 1800s ,, my great uncle orlando he delivered a same piano to the Bird Cage Theatre Tombstone Arizona,,,,and the pump organ i have one full restored
Kappy great show Ed
Much appreciated for watching!! This house was a treasure trove of antiques! :)
I love the old houses that haven't been messed up by trying to update them.😊
Exactly! Most every time someone tries to modernize, they mess the place up.
Good point! This house remained pretty untouched!! Thanks for watching! :)
The foundation is like the ones of chateaus with that stone, what craftsmanship. ❤
I love looking at all the Mansions. Thank You Kappy
Bet she was a beauty back in her day.. the staircase and hand carved piano.. its too bad nobody cared enough to take care of it...Thanks for the video Kappy! Be safe
I bet Ma was SO excited when she got her fancy new piano, there would be time in the evenings to sit in the parlor and entertain guests. The sad state the furniture is in makes most of it look irreparable, although it seems a majority of the pieces are there. It seems that back when this was left for the "final" time, friends and relatives didn't show up for piano/organ moving day! The built ins are amazing, thanks Kappy see you next week!
Well said! Great observations! Thank you very much for the kind words and watching! :)
Nobody today will understand just how much work went into guiding a home like that back then.
Finally, a vulture Kap. Thanks for this awesome old mansion. An old grand piano and organ.
You have more guts than me walking on that floor. Pretty cool antiques. Those beds, wow.
Probably the last resident there(besides the Vulture), was over 100 yrs ago since there's no modern trash. Very cool!😊
What a cool explore! Looks like nothing has been touched in maybe 60-70 years! Thanks for sharing! Love the creek footage too!
wow, the 1750s! This was one of my favorites, thanks Kappy
Incredible Kappy! Can hardly get my mind around how old this house is. Was build well. Thank you for sharing.
Wow so cool 😎👍 300 years old to bad you couldn't get to it sooner
Really nice to see a house in its original state though very weathered with it’s beautiful antiques pieces. Love the piano. I was fortunate once to play one exactly like that at an Italianate mansion from the 1850’s in Mobile when touring it. The woman asked if anyone could play and I could. Was a real thrill to play it. Surprised that she let me. Generally can’t sit on or touch anything on these tours.
These houses r in better shape than the New Ones tht r Abandoned
Love the hardware on the doors! Absolutely beautiful!
Hey Kappy! Pretty cool old stone house. It still amazes me at all the cool antiques left to rot. I fully expected a vulture in the attic. Happy to get a look inside. Sketchy floors weren't too safe! Be careful. Thanks! ✌️
Thank you very much for watching! :)
I suspect your archive of these homes, photos as well as videos, will be quite valuable. Keep good notes!!
Thank you Kappy...
Even with all the decrepit condition, that was a pretty cool place, definietly old, andhardly any renovations. Thanks!
I love your videos. I watch them all the time. Sometimes I even fall asleep to them or play them when I’m upset. Thanks for being there.
I love this house!!! It has a wonderful feeling to it. It was a wonderful beautiful house ages ago ! If only we could turn back time for a little while to see it when new!
One word...HISTORY!!!
Love this! No vandals and no sign of modern life, hardly any thing seems to be after the 1940s, what a time capsule- and no indoor plumbing. The only electric appliance was that old stove - if it was even electric :) this house seems older in parts than early 1800s. Seems like first part of house was late 1700s with the wide/thick doorways - one of my favorites! Thanks for showing us!
Agreed! Was especially neat finding the old letter upstairs! Thank you very much for watching! :)
Wow, a time capsule! No bathroom! And all those antiques, some even look to be from when it was built. This is one of my all time favs of your explores! The house feels good to me. Too bad it is in such bad shape in so many areas. If it could just be rehabbed/ rebuilt, and keep some of the antiques in there ( the ones not all broken up or rusty)
The best part was this was not a trash heap that had been ransacked. I enjoyed the antiques and the old woodwork.
The way my soul left my body when the wind slammed that door and you jumped! This house is gorgeous though. Please be safe though.
Me too lol! Startled me pretty good in the moment! Thank you for watching and the concern! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 I have never understood how you never seem to get afraid. Sometimes these places look like the beginning of a horror movie. I only stay becuase I love old architecture and I know you survived as you posted the video. 😂
This gorgeous property literally breaks my heart 💔 To abandoned & let all of the treasures, that this wonderful old home holds, be destroyed by nature, is a travesty!!! The absolutely beautiful grand piano & organ, doors, door casings, windows, window casings, banisters, fireplaces, antique wooden furniture, to the antique dishes, bottles & jars are absolutely breathtaking!!! It makes me sooo very sad to see that the owners of this property, do not care enough about this property that they have abandoned it😞😢😰
Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure with us Kappy, I truly loved it 👍🙏💕
The owners could be dead and probably are.
Great find. That house and site would make a great historical/architectural/archeological study. I want to mention how much I enjoy the last few minutes of your videos showing upcoming houses and rivers and fields. All the sounds of nature and water. Very relaxing. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe. ❤
My grandmother had some of the cast iron skillets like those hanging in that pantry when you first walked in. I sure love those old doors. That wind scared me too. Lordy. I sure do want that wooden shelf /mirror with all those bottles. Odd stair railings to go with the stairs there. They almost look too thin to be functional. Beautiful tho. I'd love a closer look at that old sewing machine in that room. Beautiful upstairs fireplace. That bed to the right is so old, you can see the ropes that helped support the mattress there on the frame. I'd love to have that old wooden box that says SURGE on the side. What a find, and different too. Really cool. Ewwww. A vulture. It startled me there. That attic is huge. And full of awesome stuff. Bet it was gorgeous in the day. The stone in the basement is really impressive. I liked this old girl, and the rustling grass outside.
Thank you for the video Kappy! That piano is old, we have one in our museum like that.
So much has been still standing, after all this time! I love that about old houses!💕
It looks like a bathroom was never added. Maybe no plumbing or electricity, ever. It must've been abandoned for a long time.
Just judging by some of the random things that were left behind I'd say probably was finally abandoned in the mid-to-late 1940s. Even in those days there were still Rural houses that didn't have plumbing or electricity.
@@chrissytaylor5690 I think you’re right ! And no graffiti! Amazing!
@@1927su out here in the south..... abandoned houses this old that have been abandoned this long are few and far between (because most of them rot to the ground really quickly). But stone houses like this are EVERYWHERE up north. Pennsylvania has a ton of them like this. And in most of the seriously rural areas....you won't find them all graffitied up! Unlike down here in Virginia the kids always tend to trash them. 🤦♀️
Good point never even realized there was no bathrooms till the end! Thank you for watching! :)
@@chrissytaylor5690 There were things in the house from the early 60s, late 50s. Might be props though
What a cool old home ......very old no running water no indoor bathroom ....a lot of life lived here for sure such a part of history ...thank you for showing us this and always be careful on those floors. Always a great video Kappy thanks for taking me along with you !!
True that! Would’ve loved to see this house 100 years ago! Thank you very much for watching! :)
Oh what a treasure to up grade and restore ❤❤😊😊
Love the Antique Furniture
Me too! Thank you for watching! :)
Yup..amazing ❤
Beautiful even in its old age 😃
Very COOL!
Oh my what a beautiful house.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, just will never understand teaching history in school & great example like this gone abandoned + years of neglect, Horrid..
You are one of my most favorite RUclipsrs. So respectful and sweet, I appreciate How quiet you let the videos be but I also love hearing your genuine appreciation of the spaces and knowledge of building styles. This is definitely not a vanity project for you but a true passion and it shows! Thank you so much!
Aw that’s too kind of you too say!! Just glad to hear you enjoy the videos!! I really appreciate that, thank you very much!! :)
He loves those door knobs and those knoll posts!
@@virginiamichel3112 he does! And he seems to hate basements like I do!!! I’m here for all of it 😍
@@emily76m Yes! I always give him a pass on those!!!CREEPY!!!
Was just thinkin that!
I would have loved to see this house in it's prime!
Can you imagine somebody visiting there every day to restore that piano and just leaving it for the next person to find?
Fantastic find Kappy, love it! The design, corner fireplaces, built-ins, 3 staircases, wide windowsills, old dressers and beds are so very cool and interesting to see. I was surprised that vulture hung out as long as it did in the window, so neat. Thank you for sharing, probably the oldest house I've seen explored in the US. Take care 🥰❤🙏
Kappy thanks so much for these videos I feel like I've been on a vacation
I loved that piano and organ. I bought an old 1890 Chicago Cottage reed organ a few months ago. It is all original and in great shape, with only one stop not working. I play it pretty much every other day.
I watch all your videos and this was by far my favorite in so many ways. What a beautiful time capsule with no graffiti or vandalism. The furniture pieces still intact are worthy of restoration. Would love to know the history of who built the house and how it became in such disrepair. This one’s a gem. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you very much! :)
I bet this was a very beautiful, serene home once the war moved on and ended. It’s amazing that it survived the revolution without any sort of damage! I bet this was a beauty in its day.
Kappy, there ws so much to see in that one. I could have speny lots of time in that one exp;oring!.
I Ashley even loved that little corner closet. I never saw a closet like that and I am 72 years old.
Amazing find !! That must have been a beautiful house back in the days. So many nice piece of furniture and that grand piano wow ! Thanks Kappy for that great explore. Can't wait for the next one ! T'ill then stay safe ! 👍❤🇨🇦
No house built recently could be abandoned for 70+ years and still be standing in 2090.
We don't have craftsman like that anymore.
Yet another stunning house. Not much from the outside but the inside is stunning. I can't understand why these beautiful buildings are left to rot.
those rope beds! (there sure seemed to be a lot of beds!) and that manual sewing machine looked like one of the real old originals! complete with the obligatory highway close beside it. loved the rosettes. Need more/closer scrutiny on some of those old latches. TY for the tour. Neat place and you could feel the history...
Could have been a boarding house back in the day.
Exterior walls are made of stone. That’s awesome
Whoever lived there loved music, with a piano and a pump organ
It would be so cool to see an artists impression of what this house looked like in its hey day.
The led particles you are kicking up just by walking around are phenomenal. I hope you're wearing at least an n95
It'd be so neat if diaries were kept by someone in the family from each generation that lived there!
Interesting that the first floor is so damaged while the other two are in such great shape. Did not see a bathroom whatsoever though probably an outhouse somewhere lol. Some of that furniture is just lovely, can't imagine sleeping on that one bed that had a tarp and rope for the springs though. Have a great day
It probably served it's purpose because it's old enough to have had three families over the years live and maybe grow old in it.
What a beautiful house, it's heartbreaking that it's just dying out there.
WOW! That pre-constitution house looks original...after all this time how is that possible...so cool.
Holy Cow Kappy!! 😮 😎😎😎house!! Watch your 🚶🦅
Beautiful place
It's in such bad shape it's hard to imagine it in the day, but I absolutely love it,your videos are awesome! 😊
Remarkable!
I'm only 6 minutes into your explanation and I have to say, this goes into the top 5 of my all time favorites. The legs on the piano, the wooden ice skate and the kitchen 👌 😍 🙌. 😊 Edit to 13:18 and 13:35 the rope beds amazing !
Wow I am surprised that this old timer is still standing ,,some places are quite creepy and no way would I want to look in the old cellar ,,no thanks ,,I love the antique cook stoves there so cool looking my step mother's family had two of them and they still worked back in the day things were made better ,,how interesting the antique foot peddle sewing machine my aunt had one ,,I ,m a lover of antique ,s and the wood work in these old house,s are beautiful and my own house has the old glass door knobs I keep it original ,,well surely enjoy your video yours of the old and historic places
Hi, Kappy and Ruby. I always like to think of what was happening politically at the time, what' people ate and wore, how they made a living...and at the time this was built, Napoleon's campaign... Maybe this place was abandoned because the Depression was too much or someone was lost in the war. Beautiful home. Thanks! Excellent, as always. 🏠
Good point! Was fascinating too find that letter from 1941! Thank you very much for watching! :)
All I can say is WOW. Love the place. How about that furniture and those rope beds? Love it
And in those days, a dirt floor was considered to be as good as it got. You didn’t have to seal underneath the dirt floor. It was just one less place for air to enter your home. I used to visit a family Member when I was a kid that had dirt floors and you wouldn’t never known had thry not hold you. And let me tell you. It was cleaner than most other homes I’ve been in. They used heavy rugs to cover. I think that’s why they used rug beaters bsck thrn. It wasn’t only for beating the dirt out that had been carried in. It was to beat the dirt out from underneath also
Wow !!! amazing !!
Since there isnt a huge amount of water damage i think it must have been well covered with tarps which I think is awesome. So much has been removed, flooring and the like
Beaautiful place Kappy, but I have no hope anyone will save it at his late juncture. When the stone wall of a house like this look iffy, and the floors are collapsing it is not for the faint of heart. Have an Incredible week Kappy, and thank God you made it out of that place!
when i see places like this i imagine in my head all the life that was once in it.all the family sitting in the kitchen enjoying there dinner, and the kids running in and out of the front doors, and now its all gone....😒
Great upload. Huge house!

Thank you for watching!! :)
One of the usual telltale signs of an early/prior 19th Century house over something even from the early 20th Century is the number of Fireplaces. By the Late 19th Century, Steam Heat was taking over. Also Potbelly Stoves where wood burning was more practical.
If I could I would tie a rope to those antique s and drage them out!!Luv them
Such beauty!!!
And that home was built in two sections at two dufferebt times. You can see the addition clearly
Awesome house. Finding a letter that old is really cool. Did you end up reading it all? Loved that piano too
3:20 - eek!!! I'd have been ...
excellent
Im curious as to why the strings tied on the doorknobs? The house was much bigger inside than what it looks like on the outside and all those antique furnishings such a shame just setting there rotting away. Nice find Kappy!
That's the kind of house that needs tore down. Not the ones that still look like new.
This was once a real nice home. I see someone took time to board the doors and some of the windows. But i don't understand why did it get so nelected. Someone had to care. This is why places get like this, just let them go. So sad.
I love watching your videos, but it also scares me, for you, walking in these places!! And then the wind banging a door...yikes!! 😮
