They wouldn't dare run a single railcar anymore on the outer harbour line, with 2 and 3 car sets it often gets overcrowded, Adelaide's. Times sure do change.
Thankfully they havent changed passenger trains all that much in Adelaide, however they say they will be going electric soon. There is something about the sound and smell of the diesel engines in these cars thats hard to explain. I was never a train enthusiast, i used to be a graffiti artist in the 90's (yes i know) but it's funny how they bring a warm feeling back after all these years. Maybe using train transport everyday back then grew a soft spot in my heart for these old cars
i started work as a 16 year old in perth in the signal cabins and was there as the old diesel units were replaced by electrics , i know exactly what youre saying and i also miss the fact that you could open the windows on the old trains .when i watch a video of the old trains that sound of the diesels is still so fresh in my mind ...30 years later
im trying to become a driver for admet before everything goes electric. these 3000s were the first train i ever saw. so i feel the same soft spot. the horn, smell, sound of the inverters.
I swear the 3000 class railcars had the potential to expand a lot on the Adelaide train network and keep the cool yellow livery. Instead it is in an ugly red and green livery for the hybrid conversions, and is only being used for 20 kilometre long suburban lines.
Im guessing the orange cars? Thats what we had in the late 90's? They look very familiar by memory, we used to have to slide open the doors at a stop. I noticed at the stations the info narrator has also been changed from the iconic guys voice everyone knew about also. I miss the old 90's transit style strangely EDIT: Atleast the horn is still the same :)
As soon as I saw a single Railcar I knew it was a Grange Train.
I used to drive the Tram and my local Railway Station was Albert Park
There was a time where they ran 3 car 2000/2100's weekdays on the Outer Harbour line shortly before they were taken out of service.
Great Video, Love to see more of this content!!!

Exactly! What I’m trying to say. Outer Harbour deserves 3-4 railcard avoid overcrowds. Adelaide’s future is growing and get bigger city.
Single Railcar is a Grange Train

Ahh it's a shame they've pulled the Jumbo's out of service, would of liked to go on one of those
