    incredible work. it is kinda funny seeing something as advanced as a sputtering magnetron be run by such a scuffed setup though

    That’s really super

    Super! Thank you very much!

    You should do a video using your sputtering setup with ammonia gas and nitride coat your homemade shell mill

    • @hc2013
      @hc2013 6 месяцев назад

      I can reccomend some research articles to read, but a scholar search with the terms "ammonia nitride sputtering" would probably be enough to familiarize yourself with the process well enough to adapt your setup.

      I like that idea... think I might get a few blank drillbits and make a video testing diffrent coatings untill I find a decent combination 👍

      @allangles4020 would also be cool to know if reactive ammonia sputtering would be the only way to deposit a nitride coating or if it's possible to just buy and use, for example aluminum nitride wafers, as a target.
      I don't see why both wouldn't work but I'm curious

    Sup bud, how you do to avoid ions from completely cover the vacuum bell? I mean so it doesnt cover the plastic in metal. Thanks

    • @allangles4020
      @allangles4020  Год назад +3

      The vacuume bell-jar is borosilicate glass and at the minute I carnt stop oversputter from coating it.. but it dose kinda wipe off when layes bulid up and oxidise ... luckley the vacuume chamber is big enough that it dosent just coat the howl thing as soon as its turned on ...

    Hi.could sputtering process make the steel harder enough to be sand resistant.in other word i want to ammeliorate the resistance of my aluminium genuine parts to be be harder to abrasion.could i? Thanks a lot.

    • @allangles4020
      @allangles4020  Год назад

      Yes you chould this magnetron has the potential to create the same coating you see on drill-bits and endmills such as TiN (titainum nitride) and AlTiN (Aluminum titanium Nitride).... the best one for ware resistance and low friction is TiAlN however if the material you are coating is soft I whould assume the coating whould chip off alot easier with impacts but if all your after is abrasion resistance TiAlN is mostlikley the coating your looking for

    I work with PVD machines, some ideas for you.
    -Etching: you can use hydrogen (effective but dangerous) or even argon plasma, going to a separate anode, to clean your substrate
    -Use reverse osmosis water or distilled water for your cooling.
    -Clean your substrate in an ultrasonic cleaner

      another fairly effective way is using a reactive oxygen plasma. works like a charm.

    for servo will be better to use PID

    photoresist ≠ photoresistor.
    One refers to the chemical used to etch silicon wafers ...
    verse an element used to add a quantum of electrical impedance. :

    great video, what vacuum gauges and controller are you using here?

    Do you make the plans, or did you follow your own design? If it is your design, could you post a link to it? If you dont have a place, I have one for you. - I will send you this message on twitter as well.

    Waaaaaaaa! There is the map() function which do all these math you did manually

    • @allangles4020
      @allangles4020  Год назад

      I chouldent get the map() function to work with float values as far as I'm aware they dont match although I've only been programming arduino for about a month or 2

    Are you serious? You learned C++ in a month?? I only wish I could use arduino that well after 1 year.

      Thank you for picking up on that I'm not one to blow my own horn but its up there with some of my most proudest moments .... I learnt it all from a channel called "Paul mcWhorter" worth a watch if your into programming arduino or pi

      @@allangles4020 HAHAHA he is a programming genius. I watch all his stuff except the RasPI. I just cannot get the time to follow all his stuff but just put together a 12v motor drive system and his vids helped me greatly. Keep up the great work!!

    Waaaaaaa! Use encoders instead of potentiometers. Thank me later :)
