Hi. I would like do the same. What do you suggest for the hot side problem (to reduce the hot)? Why do you use brass and not steel for the door? Regards. Sorry i'm french and don't write very good.
Hi, I glued thruster wrap to the back of the inner panels using heat sealant ( worked well on the MK2 stove ) The door is steel but the glass surround is brass ( it expands at a different rate to steel & looks nice ) Hope that helps & all goes well with your stove.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273469658659 Hi, this is where I got the glass from. There are other sellers who sell different sizes that are ideal for a project like this.
Instead of grinding the handle off, why not turn it upside down and use the hinged lid as an access to remove the ashes? The bottom, now on the top, could be used to cook on.
Paul Gallaher Hi Paul, the glass is 10x7 cm. I got it on eBay from stovecareandrepair. I’m happier with the Mk2 version of the stove as I can do a bit more with it. Love to see what you do with your build. Cheers.
@@thekitowl yeah mk2 is really god too, but the mk1 is all I need for my camper van, and the size is just perfect Yeah I'd be happy to show you it, its a perfect design Thanks for putting it on RUclips 👍
Alex Yelluas Hi, first I tried 3 types of paint stripper which was hard going & didn’t remove much of the paint , so I ended up using my grinder with a sanding disk attached. That was so much easier a there were only a few bits I couldn’t get at. The paint on the ammo box’s is quite tuff ( suppose it has to be ) I’ve seen some trying to burn the paint off . Cheers.
Nice project 👍
Piotr Dąbrowski Thanks. the MK 2 is now finished.

Give it a go , although I’ve never seen it done that way . My version has a detachable grill which you couldn’t implement with the box
upside down.
Hi really nice job going to make me one what was the size of the glass?

How did you strip paint?
