It's amazing how much of a difference the commentary with Joey Barrington et al makes to the overall viewing enjoyment, I was near dozing off a few times listening to the monotonous shot calling in this one haha!
Wow! Even the court service has improved leaps and bounds! That guy at 7:52 is just wiping it up with a towel! We have towels on sticks now in 2017. Squash has sure come quite a ways
Wish I could see Lincou becoming first World Champ from a country with little track record in squash (2004). Probably contributed a lot to open squash to new countries... Thanks for this vid.
Got to agree with most sentiments, today's game is so much more interesting to watch due to increased speed. It helps that they decided to reduce the tin height and introduce the double yellow dot competition ball as well as the current winner of rally point system, it prevents games from dragging on such as seen with these two ultra fit players. I recall the Khan's also used to just fatigue out their opponents with long rallies. We've gone in the right direction with squash.
i was screaming at my laptop when the score was 12-6!!! was wondering what the hell was going on, only for my mind to shift into classic mode where games ended at 15!! Classic stuff!!! Enjoyed it @psa squash TV
It's also the way the game is ref'ed these day, players are now encouraged to play the ball through minimal interference. A lot of the let's in this game would be no let's by today's standards, good for the game. still the squash in this video is awesome.
It's scary to see how the game has evolved so rapidly over the last decade! The shots seem much tighter and the current lot seem much sharper to be honest. No disrespect intended.
@ Juan David Garzón Tobón comment about how the game has evolved; I talked to a former top player about this, and he said if you put these guys into the future playing the modern tour they would be absolutely crushed. However make no mistake, what made them top players back then would soon kick in, and in a matter of months they would have adapted to the new style/ competition, bringing them right back to the top. Also interesting to see that reffing was pretty bad back then too, in fact I prefer the new reffing over what I saw here in this game.
What happened to the other games! I was just getting into this. Still can't believe Nicol's forehand tight overhead kill late in the game, Rosner eat your heart out!
Is interesting to see how 10 years ago the speed game is a couple of notches down. They are top players and even so, they do not look as aggressive as the game of today. I don't know if I'm wrong, but today the drops are faster, tighter and the hitting maybe harder. And I think is just a matter approach to the game. Nothing those years prevented Nicol or Palmer from adjusting their speeds. Who may be the one that started the current trend? Lincou?
I think this may have to do with the changes in the tin, now being lower @ 17" instead of 19". This encourages players nowadays to play more to the front of the court and a generally more aggressive style of play

Peter Nicol was my favorite squash player back in the day.
Why would anybody 'dislike' this... it's Squash Gold!!
Nicol’s movement is phenomenal! I wish he played in today’s squash games he would have brought back the fierce element of movement back into the game.

The tin was 19 inches back then. Not 17 like today.

Fast paced game..... classic matches are nice to watch even though there s no crosscourt nick attempt... it looks even faster than games of today.
Thank God for Egypt, that was a very bright and moving sleeping pill.
This is slowmo compared to today worldclass squash

Can't help but think some of our top players now would spank either of these guys

hhfh
This is different approach of the game, they played much more safety with less errors than the game nowadays.
different court, different ball, different rackets and possibly different tin height. it is impossible to compare from different eras
Ray, You can. Just have the new players hit with the old gear :D
Considering the way rules are interpreted these days, I see a lot of no lets
I guess Ramy changed everything, right from insane pace and deception to racket skills.
Nicol's ridiculously oversize t-shirt 😂😂😂
ong beng hee was in world series finals ?! 😰 what was his highest world ranking ??
Highest of #7 I believe
Looks like women were banned from the audience in those days!
Nicol vs power please!!!

Times have changed...just fifteen years. Even I could get a few points against them.
BOO! hiss!
Not a single Dessouky's "flat as a pancake" crooscourt nick, boring ! ;)
