YOU NEED TO CONTINUE RED RISING, PLEASE SARA!! The 2nd and 3rd books in the series are by far my favorites and the story continues on a totally different path. My #1 series EVER.
@@kaitlynnicolereads It honestly gets better in the 2nd book onwards. I was intimated also, so it will take some time to get used to some of the basics of the world, but this series is SO good. And the HUMOR between some of our main characters is awesome. At the end of the day, if I only had to choose one series as my all-time favorite, I'd choose Red Rising over TOG. Which is crazy!
@@eeveealina5291 I’m moving it up on my tbr list! I have read some series where the first book you just have to get through then it gets so much better. I’m going to take your word for it!
my first sci-fi was project hail mary by andy weir & i LOVED it! i think it’s really good for beginners, keeps you on the edge of your seat, yet is still somehow a very wholesome read
i’m BEGGING booktubers to stop being afraid of having “bad” opinions on books. if you don’t like it just say that, you don’t have to try to appease the author/fans of it by saying “but maybe someone else will like it!”. as readers we should be able to critique novels.
Agree! I also DNFd these hollow vows because of the writing style (they kept using the phrase “that male” / “the male” which pissed me off) and I can positively it’s not a good book
if you want a sci-fi i would recommend The Luner Chronicals series by Marissa Meyer. She wrote the Renegade series so if you liked that I think youll like this series. The series gets better as they books go on :))
if you want to get into sci-fi world, i would totally recommend Project Hail Mary as a starting point, it’s an awesome book that’s not only focused on the story/plot but also relationships happening with the characters involved and at least for me (moving from fantasy) was a great introduction
I agree that we all have different tastes. I do like hearing other perspectives from mine. I was so intimidated by this book because I have never liked sci-fi, but my reading goal this year was to read a book from every genre. I picked this one and I fell in love. It was so epic for me and made me more excited for the other genres that are new to me. I’m bummed you didn’t love it but I am glad that you tried.
Hi Sara! If you're still interested in sci-fi after some misses, I HIGHLY highly recommend Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir!!! I would almost say its a cozy sci-fi because it has an overall wholesome tone, and something will happen around the middle that you'll fall in love with. There is a lot of science talk but I thought it was super digestable and easy to go along with! I recommend it all the time and have only gotten good feedback.
I really recommend scythe for sci-fi! Definitely more dystopian than extraterrestrial, but for me the characters were easier to connect to and the concept is so interesting!
I was thinking of this one as well. But idk how it is generally received. I really enjoyed the different media, made it more attention-catching in a way (I don’t usually read sci fi).
Red rising is weird for me bc the first time I read it was I was OBSESSED…. But I reread it again this year and found it to be a lil meh. I just think it’s more ya than I remember lol
I read it a couple months ago and I was so bored in the middle and I had no connection to any of the characters and I didn’t even consider continuing the series but once I got to the end I was like hmmmm maybe I’ll continue the series lol idk yet though, I’m in no rush to continue though. I don’t think I really like the main character lol
so glad to see an actual review of Phantasma! I'd seen a lot of people adding it to their TBR, but I was curious to see if it would be worth the hype. VERY excited to read it now! 👀
Okay so I read "Scythe" recently from your tbr funny enough and I really enjoyed it. I don't read sci-fi, but "Scythe" is categorized as sci-fi dystopian and would probably be more up your ally. It was so fun to read! Hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it!💕
I immediately started reading Phantasma when you recommended it in your Fall book recommendation Video/tbr and I loved it. 😍 But I had the same feeling with the ending.. it felt a bit rushed. And I loved Poe 🐈⬛ 🫢
Thanks for posting! I was in a funk for a while with every book I was reading. So thank you for sharing your thoughts on these books. Def will add to TBR !!
Currently reading Phantasma and I am obsessed! I’m so happy to hear that the second book is about Genevieve because I have been wondering what she’s been up to this whole time 😂 so happy you loved it ❤️
Bestie you always post at the most perfect time! I literally just left the library, and I needed this more than ever! I am all in for this fall vibe, grapping my book asap!
For sci-fi, try Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Listen to it on audible to get the full effect though because there are some noises that make more sense in the audio that only audible has rights to.
Omg red rising is my favorite series EVER the second one is chefs kiss. I want your opinion on the second one please don’t give up on the series. ❤❤❤ also this video was such a vibe
I like hearing your opinions about books you didn’t care for. Both Red Rising and These Hollow Vows I was hesitant about. I also don’t know if Sci Fi is for me, but I still really want to try it
A couple sci-fi books that I loved: 1: Cinder! Slight sci-fi, fairy tale retelling. So underrated!!! 2: Aurora Rising but the audiobook. The cast and music, etc. SO good!!
I’m so intrigued to read Phantasma (which I’ve heard off from you ofc) but I’m holding it for the spooky season, love your vlogs they’re always a fun time bestie 🥹🩷
Fall is so cozy and Im loving it ❤ I'm reading The Spellshop and I have halloween/fall sounds and music on in the background ❤ thanks for posting Bestie
bestie i felt the exact same way reading red rising and gave it a 3.5 then golden son was a 4 then morning star was a 5 the story picks up, and i have never ever connected to characters more and loved something like this series PLS KEEP READING

Try Project Hail Mary, I’m not normally a sci-fi reader but I loved this one, best to go into it without knowing too much of the plot
I loved phantasma so much like the first book in awhile that I actually had just so much fun reading!!
I really recommend scythe for sci-fi! Definitely more dystopian than extraterrestrial, but for me the characters were easier to connect to and the concept is so interesting!
Read the scythe series this year and it was soooo good! I loved the characters!
For an incredible sci fi trilogy with amazing audiobooks that’s super easy to read, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the Iluminae Chronicles
I was thinking of this one as well. But idk how it is generally received. I really enjoyed the different media, made it more attention-catching in a way (I don’t usually read sci fi).
