  • This is the first in a small series of videos I plan to do on using aluminium (aluminum) extrusion profiles (V-slot) in the workshop.
I first used it for making 2, half sized MFT type portable work benches some years ago. I quickly realised that the beauty of the stuff is, as your needs change, you can simply disassemble all the components and remake anew.
Can be daunting selecting and buying components and profiles at first but, in no time, like fans of Mechano and Lego, you'll find yourself with a heap of sliding t-nuts, profiles, brackets and plates that allow you to get imaginative creating durable solutions for the workshop.
Check eBay and Market Place for used profile bundles to get you going would be my advice. It's what I did to get started and it saved me a lot of money.
For new 20mm profiles and accessories, a good one stop shop is Ooznest in the UK. Link below.

After watching some of your videos awhile back I made a 40x40 extrusion frame for my MFT top. Love the stuff.

Nice! The 4040 with an 8mm slot is superb for benches. Has the added bonus of being able to accept guide rail clamps👌

Looking forward to seeing what else you do with your "big-boy's mechano"

Someday, when I get a Big boy shop. Working under the clouds in Scotland, in a mid-terraced house backyard, my storage options are a touch limited. Take care & stay safe.

Great Video , off topic but I wonder if you get your track saw blades re-sharpened or do just keep buying new ones, also do you have different blades for different substrates and what is your experiences in this regard, would be interested in your thought on this topic. Cheers.

Cheers mate. I used to send blades away for sharpening back when working onsite. Don't think I have since being workshop based. They could probably do with it though! I keep em cleaner these days which helps I think. And yes, I use a variety of task specific blades. Video idea maybe?👍
