Yay! A cooking video! Sometimes you just get stuck in a "food rut" and need new recipe inspiration. The monster cookies, rice krispie pinwheels, and even the pasta salad would be great to pack for school lunches. I will definitely be trying those for my kiddos! Thanks for the inspo!
Mennonites and food bring back a lot of memories - meals in St. Jacob's, Ontario, the market in Kitchener, Ontario, and the lovely Mennonite ladies that came to the large Signatures Christmas Craft Show in downtown Toronto, with their huge assortment of Christmas cookies that we could pick and mix! My most poignant memory involves my dad. 35 years ago he was diagnosed with cancer in Feb and passed away in Aug. For my birthday in March, he gave me a lovely large Mennonite cookbook, and wrote in it. It's here in Brittany, France with me, and I used it a lot when my son was young! All your recipes here look delicious!

LOL, how do you get off that swing? My stepmom makes the best pesto, she also grows basil in the garden. We will make pizza with pesto sauce. So good. My stepmom was going to give me the rest from last year. I'm going over on Saturday, maybe she still will? I learned how to cook in 2010 when I moved in here. My friend taught me how to read a recipe, it helped so much. And my blind friend (he passed with type 1 diabetes), he taught me how to read the back of like a mac and cheese box because I had to find the temperature.

Megan, I had so much fun in Sugarcreek. The restaurant was so good. But we accidentally ordered way too many onion rings, and the salad wasn't that great, but they have the best Ruebens ever!! We saw the Cuckoo clock. I had such a good time on the trip. And we drove to see the Kirtland Temple, which was just bought by the mainstream LDS church. I learned a lot about the early saints. Also, we saw the Joseph Smith home, they had a replica of the first hymnal, which I never would have been able to read. we stayed in Cuyahoga Falls. We also saw "Inside Out 2", which I highly recommend.
Mexican here, you have to put the tortillas out to dry for a good 2 hrs before like individually out to air dry then you fry later- also we hold it down w a spatula

Try using the wire whip attachment instead of the flat blade paddle to mash your potatoes. I was getting some lumpy mashed potatoes too, when I used that flat blade. My friend told me to switch to the wire whip and now they get great. 😊

my mom just started growing basil and it grows like CRAZY. i now know what to do with the freezer bags of basil in my fridge now haha edit: also wanted to say that tortillas bubble up bc of the moisture. i would suggest lowering the heat and flipping the tortillas until they're browned to what you like. it also helps to use less oil!
Flour tortillas have fat/oil in them and they puff when heated. For fun place oven safe cereal bowls upside down on a cookie sheet and lay a tortilla over the bowl and bake 350 till very brown. Fill with taco fixins. The kids can eat the filling and break off pieces to dip in the center. I use soft taco size tortillas
I’m Mexican. When our tortillas bloat up like that, it means you’re heating them up perfectly. Then people joke that you’re ready to get married now 😂 Congratulations you passed the tortilla test!

Tortillas will bubble up like that if the heat is too high. If you'd like to, instead wrap them in foil and warm them up in the oven for a few minutes instead, unless you were going for a fried feel.

Please rethink using Aldi as your main staples. A lot of their products are changing now. They are using a lot of bio engineered food products in their food and it didn’t used to be this way. Even their organic broth now has oil and flour in it, which has nothing to do with making broth. I know you can’t keep up with everything because it’s insane, but those are things that i find important, so I always pass it along in case someone else does too.

You’ll want to prefill your tortillas with the meat if and fry them in taco form or burrito form to avoid the puffing up of them. ☺️

Afa your mashed potatoes getting lumpy…do you put them in the mixer while they’re still very hot? If u let them cool down, they won’t mix smooth.

I like mashed potatoes with cheese and spinach leaves mixed in. Hubby thinks it's the strangest combo he's ever seen, but it's really good...haha 😀

I make the rice crispy rolls, store in freezer and take out and cut as needed. Always a huge hit! I make mine with chocolate and peanut butter😋

Now that my 5children are out of the house I make our tortillas so good. The tacos look so good will have to make them with fresh tomatoes and corn.
