He's a really good player, but why did they think, they can even compare him to Arthur Ashs, Ashe has won 3 grand slams, Monfils has won zero, there's still hope for 2018.
A successful tennis career = making enough money to be financially set after retirement. The vast majority of players that turn pro do not achieve that due to a combination of high expenses and low challenger level prize money. Monfils though has most definitely achieved that.
