I've loved Roy's playing since i first heard him on the first Soulfly album in '98. Great sound, great grove, unique fills just a hell of a drummer.

WillBurhams I used to hate they sounded back when they first released. They sounded like they had a cymbal mute on them. They grown so much on me. I have an 18 crash as my ,aim crash in my setup

This may sound a little funny but this dude actually has really really good technique hahaha. Watch how he doesn't have to hit so hard because he has so much whip motion. He gets a lot of power with minimal effort! A+

in the 80s he used to break a lot of sticks but his tempo mwah.. btw hes a short guy5"7' ish.., may help with muscle memory idk.
He was the brought on after scrutiny, for Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul when he passed away. He's amazing. I'll follow anything Ray does.

well, this ride is a modern incarnation of the old Zildjian Z series Heavy Power ride 24"... same row earthy finish and extremely heavy weight (around 6 kilograms).... similar to the Earth rides too, but Zildjian had never made them in 24".....
Sabian can make this ride as a custom order. Just ask and they can do it for you! 🙂

@@officialedge6163 yes I know. But this is not a cheap wish for sure. I saw them a few time on Ebay for the last 2 years probably...$450 or something around. I have two those oldschool zildjians 24" Z heavy power rides. One thing I noticed is Sabian does this custom anvil cymbals a little less in weight then zildjian did in Z series - around 5500-5600 grams sabians VS mines 6200-6400grams zildjians.... from the other point of view Sabian does extremely fine earth finish in this model .... maybe some day I will earn money and order some all time monster - 26" Anvil ride with a 8" bell like megabell ride have to have. Zildjian completely sucks these days and Sabian beat them all with a custom shop orders and sound lab research.
You can get one now, but you have to pay, I think , $120 extra for a custom cast. I was looking into getting one a few years ago, but the turn around on it was 4 to 6 weeks, and I wanted something sooner for a gig I had coming up. I wound up getting a Paiste Blue instead. It's a great cymbal, and I still have it, but I was just watching this thinking how good Roy's sounds, and seriously considering getting one for a new project.
Mayorga is one of my top fav drummers, he was one of which I was inspired to play, even though when I moved on to death metal, black metal etc… he still comes up on top

I feel like this is a stupid question but. If your ride is a custom shop, why would you put a bell over it rather than make the cymbal actually have a big bell? Is the anvil ride so loud that a bigger bell would be overkill on the volume of the bow?
