I'm glad to see it took to you to put that climbing stick up nice and quietly! I don't ever think I've made that much noise with any of my climbers or hang ons! The best part is I don't own a hang on. I can be up tree and 99% of the time I'm fine in a few set backs that I can take care of with removing a limb or two! You nor the deer will hear me!
I understand your comments but the noise was due to the buckles clanging against the sticks. This one reason we hang our stand in the summer months of June and July. I will bet i can climb up and be settled quicker and with less effort and sweating than when using a climbing stand. Once these stands are hung, there is no noise while climbing up to them. We hang somewhere around 25 stands per year so we have options and can sneak in and out without making noise. It's less wear and tear on the trees themselves too. To each their own, I was just showing an easy and safer way to hang a lock on than to hold it with one hand and try to strap it to the tree with the other. I do hunt from climbers too, just use those to hunt hot sign or deer sign that is a bit out of the normal spots where we hang stands.
Mike Armstrong I have used a climing stand all my life but i have recently switched. I do like them because of the ability to quickly climb up a tree quietly. But now I use wild edge step ladders with a light lock on. The system i use allows me to get up about 20-24 feet, and it (with my stand) is about a pound lighter than my climber. Now I can climb any tree, it doesnt matter the bark size or the amount of branches. I usually hang and take the stand down everytime I hunt, but if i know im hunting that tree the next day I could leave all but the bottom 4 steps, that way no one can take it. Muddy makes a product similar but they are 200 bucks qnd you can only get 14 feet up the tree. thiis system is expensive too but i think it is worth it. you may not like or even have the need for it but i encourage you to check them out.
I like how you setup . The buckles hitting the ladder was a little loud . One of the unsafe things I saw was the man on the ground under stand while your hooking the ladder to the tree and hoisting the stand up .
I have the same stand and its a bear to hang it. Ol Man needs to go to a mounting block. However, its a good stand to hunt from. I do all that you and your buddy do all by myself and its tough. The stand is heavy and planning is key. You have a couple of tips I will carry on to next season when I put them up again
My system for doing all of this solo is pretty simple. I'm pretty sure it'd work for just about any stand out there. I simply tie a piece of paracord onto my stand which acts as a hanging "bracket". Before I set up my climbing system (steps/sticks/ladder) at the tree, I attach a haul up line from my harness to my stand. When I use my climbing device, be it a stick ladder, or my Stepp Ladder system, when I get above the height that I want to set up my stand, I strap a strap with a hook around the tree so when I pull my stand up I can simply hang it onto the hook by the "hanging bracket", then fasten the stand to the tree per the manufacturer's intructions (strap/chains/rachets, etc.). This way I don't have to wrestle with the stand while "clinging" to the tree! Easy peasey. Always use enough steps so you are stepping DOWN onto your stand platform, and always maintain at least three points of contact as you ascend/descend. And, yes, if you have a couple of buddies willing to go out with you, enlist them. I like taking my wife for a walk in the woods, and if anything should go wrong, she's there to help get help.
I don't recommend anyone climbing or setting stands alone. The only time we climb alone is after the lifeline is attached and ready. The last thing you want is to have an accident and end up dead because you knocked yourself out and couldn't recover. Stay safe and work smart.
I don't recommend it, either. Hence, wife goes along. She doesn't have to do anything but enjoy the woods while I set up my stand. We could also talk about having a map at home with stand locations, a set time for returning home, etc. This was a tip for hanging your stand easily and safely, as you have both hands free to attach the stand, instead of having to wrangle the stand into position to attach it. Hunt safe. Blessings.
I hang and hunt same day...cant make that much noise setting up. Set up solo, always safe. Practice, have a system, and dont be in a hurry. Cover up those buckles....
We also have sets that we can hang and hunt same day. Usually all aluminum and they are very silent. We start in July setting stands in our go to spots but still hold out a few of those quick sets and or climbers for any hot spots that pop up like a new producing white oak or new trail we find.
10-4...dont have a "go to" really, but lots of very good smallish public in the area...I try to be as mobile as I can. This is only my 2nd year bow in So. Mn. Still trying to "get it". Never hunted hill country and its a challenge to say the least...be safe and good luck.
We set up ours very similar and yes we also add a life line best investment we have made. Could you post a link to where you get this style of hooks please.
I dont know what I learned but I did learn how not to hang a stand if you want to hunt the same day....all that tattling, clanking, bumping, likely scared ALL the deer away from that bedding areas. I lnow it was for education purposes but geeez!!!
Go attach a gopro directly to metal and see how ANY noise is amplified. Yes, noise should be kept to a minimum but we had photos of deer in the area about 5 hours after we filmed this video. Hunt three sets this past weekend and one of them had deer under the stand within 2 hours of us being there. Deer are not as spooky as you think.
Could have saved 3 minutes off this install and video, starting @4:40 with a Hang On Helper Installed. Not to mention piece of mind knowing you have time to quickly exit the stand in case of strap failure or other emergency.
This video was published 2 years before your product was available. My system works just fine and it doesn't cost me $40 a stand to use like your item does. Thanks for using my video comment section to try and promote your product.
Well, it's not a sanctuary in practice, only the name we gave it. We've been low impact hunting all of our land for years now. Very minimal human intrusion. Freezer stay full so I'd say it works for us.
bigweb0311 For pulling up the stands, we use standard haul rope with a load rating of about 100#. For strapping the ladder to the tree, we use the manufacturer supplied web straps. We also add a strap to the stand for extra security and those are standard ratchet straps rated to a minimum of 1,000 pounds. Hope this helps.
Yeah. We try to stay 18 feet or so. If we need to go to the end of the steps, we usually add a screw in step or two to aid in getting in the stand safety.
@@DerikStillPasinthrough that's derik, I'm having issues out of mine. I cant seem to get my bottom platform to stay tight, when I get off of it and on to the sticks, it will move up about a inch. Its tight to the tree just moves a hair
It's almost 6 years old and was shot with one of the first GoPro cams that came out. I did the best I could with what I had. Could have made it shorter but then some of the techniques would have been left out. Kinda hard to produce and hang a stand at the same time.
Derik Still It’s ok. I appreciate the reply. I didn’t mean to come off like a dick. Love your channel and I do appreciate you’re advice and insight. I’m a pretty new hunter and everything you guys post adds value. Please accept my apologies. We hunters need to stick together. They’re enough antis to deal with. Gerry.

Grate stand especially for a beginner and very comfortable
It sure is!
I'm just glad I lost almost 3 minutes of my life to realize I'm doing things great in the woods by myself!!!!!
Hunters specialty has a treestand hoist that would come in very handy.
I bet so but they didn’t have it many years ago. lol
I like it

Just might be one of those cases where you need an extra ratchet strap for the bottom of the platform.
This dude looks like Bill Clinton.
You can’t see anything. Camera angles are poor.
Perhaps you can do better. Let me know when you have the video uploaded.
