I did not buy at those prices. I missed the launch window of the 6800xt, and patiently waited with my aging rx580 for 2 years, until the 6800xt dropped to below MSRP. I bought one on October 12th, 2022 in protest of 4000/7000 series prices. Not everyone who can afford it is willing to pay above MSRP for technology with a limited useful lifespan.

70 class GPUs never were 128 bit and 8 PCIe lanes only. It was only the 60 and 60 Ti that got this treatment in only the 40 series, because before that, we had 192-bit bus width and 256-bit bus width with 16 PCIe 4.0 lanes each with the 3060 and the 3060 Ti, respectively. It's only in the 40 series where we have gone back so massively in terms of overall memory bandwidth. So you could just say you don't want a repeat of the 40 series.
@@quantum5661 As I said, that's THE only solution you have as a customer if you want NVIDIA to do better. Its easy to say because its easy to do. If you can convince others to do the same, all the better. What's the issue again? lmfao
The more hardware improves, the less optimized games get. It's like the adage on how work stretches to fill all available time. Instead of better hardware giving us better results, the results remain relatively the same on newer releases. So yeah, expect triple A games to remain unoptimized. The biggest "oof" about low VRAM from Nvidia is that it's hurting the ability to use their own flagship features of RT and frame-gen. And relating this to the above, they lean more and more heavily on DLSS to give us an "adequate" gaming experience instead of better price/performance natively.
according to this reasoning pong is the ultimate optimized game..... lets hold on all development of games because it will get more unoptimized when they get better and more complex....
You can optimise and they provide the necessary options in the games. Use lower resolution textures, turn off some enhancements, lower the display resolution. Those are all things we've been doing for decades when playing games on a computer.
Spanish lol. I have French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese as audio options - no English. I thought I was having a small stroke. I wondered why the music at the start sounded so muffled.
i went from a GTX 1060 6GB that lasted 6 years (and is still alive on another PC that i gifted), to a RTX 3070 8GB and i can say with confidence i cannot play games with RT on (with few exceptions) because it hits the VRAM limit everytime and immediately dips the FPS to unplayable (and i'm playing at 3440x1440p), without RT it works just fine on ultra for most games. now the only upgrade i was considering was a 5070 16GB or a 5070 ti 16GB but i see they're raising the prices of GPU's again, in Europe we already pay a 20% VAT tax on top of the price, a 4070 Ti super is around 860 euros (shipping NOT included) and i don't want to pay 900 to 1000 euros for such a bad value card (the 5070 ti) when it brings nothing new to the table, is not MUCH better than a 4070 ti super, and eats way more energy (because energy is now expensive in Europe). i just don't see the point of taking a 12GB VRAM card when it's already obsolete by design and can't reach a decent target framerate in new games, i remember the biggest games i've seen is eating 13GB VRAM at 1440p. a 60 should be 12GB, a 70 should be 16GB, 70 Ti should be 18 or 20GB (normally an entry to the 4K gaming world GPU), a 80 should be 24GB and the 90 should be 32GB. now i don't even care about the RTX 5000 series, it's dead on arrival, not enough VRAM, CUDA core count isn't much better than the previous gen, eats way more energy, etc... yes it has GDDR7 but what's the point if you'll hit VRAM limit in all cases and still play at 40FPS. so anyway, i'll either wait for a 5070 SUPER or Ti SUPER or even the RTX 6000 until this VRAM situation is resolved. and i agree with you, AMD is doing the same thing and trying to eat NVIDIA's market share on things they can't compete with (lol), at least Intel might be our only hope because they used to make good CPU's and aren't greedy with the VRAM.
8gb on a 3070 is such a waste, why even make that boggles my mind, 12gb would have made more sense but even then for a 70 series 16 or 32 should always be the standard
Sellers of non-essentials don't determine prices; buyers do. There are dozens of reasons why video card makers want to set prices high and specs low, but only one reason why they get away with it: people buy such cards. It's been said a gazillion times -- if the price is too high, don't buy. If you buy any non-essential thing, the act of buying it signifies approval of the price.
Buyers aren't a singular entity you can moralize or even anthropomorphize. "Signifies approval" is a metaphor for a fictional "person". Unless the thing is just way beyond the line of being sirens-blaring obvious dogshit, boycotts only work if it's a well-organized, concerted effort to shun something or someone. Otherwise, the effect is always subject to the watering-down effect of averaging different types of people, circumstances and intents and no amount of casual "don't buy" finger wagging or individual "i'm helping by not buying" is going to change businesses minds.
Bingo. There was a shortage but companies saw people would still pay much higher prices. Therefore, they had no incentive to return prices to what used to be normal.
I only got into hardware recently and Steve is right, 40 and certainly 50 series doesn't offer anything good until you get to xx70 so if your budget is just 300 bucks AMD is the best choice with their 6700/6750XT
With the use of frame gen, that's still a solid card... no need to upgrade at all... Wait another year or so and pick up a higher tier card for budget money... it's how I got my 6900XT for less than half the original 999 release price... that I never actually saw any cards for sale below 1199
Doesn’t matter how good a deal AMD has. PC gamers won’t buy them in significant numbers. Saint Dismas provided some incisive critique on the modern GPU market while dying on the cross next to Jesus. “We receive the just rewards of our deeds.”
Wtf, this video starts playing in Spanish ?! And I can only select between Spanish, French and Italian ??? I don't even speak these languages. There is no option for English (original) voice/sound track ?! WHAT
Imagine preparing to watch your regular end-of-month Hardware Unboxed video and then y luego, de repente, me pregunto por qué no entiendo ni una palabra de lo que están diciendo, porque mi cerebro aún no ha cambiado a Español.
They dont really want to sell more GPUs or VRAM. I see that comment when you say about selling with 16gb VRAM, the issue is that we are in a stage where they only want higher margins so they need to convince us that only a higher end can have for example 16gb, AMD did not follow that path for VRAM but because NVIDIA controls the market share they follow that price and also could not compete in terms of performance most of the time, at least in the higher end.
$199 while Intel is financially falling apart? Now that's some strong hopium. It will be miracle if it's $250. Lets not forget that A770 launched for similar price as RX 6700 XT was priced at the time while being a bit slower and the same goes for A580 and RX 6600.
People buy what they can afford, not what is best. If you're on a 1080p TN monitor you can just turn down AA and textures one or two rungs on the quality scale to stay under 8GB of usage and still have fun playing games.
Am I the only person for whom this video doesn't play in English? For some reason it only gives Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, & French as the audio track language options
@蓮90 At this point there's no reason not to just wait until non-reference next gen cards come out which should be comparable in prices to where the 4070 super is atm
You think that is bad, 5900x launched at the same time, and was considered the best gaming GPU on the market, exactly 4 years ago. Tbh, I think if you are on AM4, you are fine with 5600x. Heck, remember you will still have a better gaming CPU than the PS5 pro. I actually upgraded from 5600x to 5900x early this year because I was having productivity issues. If it was just gaming though, I would have gone 5800x3d But if you are building new, then yeah, AM5, Ryzen 4 would make sense as an entry point.
You can really tell people don't watch the video, by the kind of comments they're leaving. This video has been Auto translated it's not even in English at release
It was in English at the release, then YT did YT-things and screwed it up. Since they only make English videos, so it HAD to be English when it was released. They make videos neither in French nor Portugese nor Spanish - only Enlgish.
Nvidia don't care about VRAM squabbles, when will people realise that their gaming cards are just an afterthought now that they can sell the same silicon for multiple thousands of dollars.
Crypto destroyed GPU pricing, Covid kept it insane, and AI is paving over the rubble. The only way hot silicon will be allocated to local devices at reasonable prices is if it becomes advantageous for delivery of home entertainment experiences.
4090 (ti) 1600$ USD $2300 CAD/AUD . 1080ti $699 inflation has tripled the price of the flagship somehow with larger cooler and PCB that might cost a few dollars each. Silicon is maybe $200-500 more per wafer . We are getting gouged all the time and then they are cheaping out on memory controllers and VRAM. Extreme scummy practices but it makes money.
Nvidia can charge whatever they want given AMD follow their lead and price points. Nvid hasn't had any competition in such a long long time, sadly. :( I held the line from purchasing an RX480 8gb back in 2016 until the release of the 4070 for all the good it did, heh.
The audio thing is so baffling that I honestly thought it was a intro joke or something. I sat around for 30ish seconds waiting for the video to actually start. xD
AMD _does_ have cards at $200-600 that hands down beat Nvidia, but Nvidia still wins in sales throughout that price range because it is fanboyism, not performance, that actually rules.
When it comes to RX7600 vs RTX4060, they are neck a neck. 4060 a bit more expensive but is better in everything. That's why it is the most popular. But above, that AMD has better raw performance, but RT and power efficiency sucks, plus Nvidia better for productivity. I don't see AMD competing with 4060ti, as 7700XT is more expensive, but it starts to win with the 7800XT being quite cheaper than the RTX4070 while having better raw performance.
One of the indy games I like to play suffers some modest graphical glitch on AMD (sad face emoji) but I do miss the Radeon Software, some of the features and functionality of that are actually better than what Nvidia is packing. And yeah the VRAM has recently been a circus with Nvidia.
The only card AMD nailed out of the gate was the 7800xt, the 7600 is a card that should never have existed if they could not sell for close to $200 they should have started with a 7700 a 12gb card slightly stronger then the 4060 for $300-340. 7900XTX and XT was a $100 and $150 over priced. First impressions matter when you are the underdog.
Its not fanboyism, the majority arent going to be fanboys My PC works for me, the one thing Tech Deals always got right, After a full day at work, you coming home do you want to troubleshoot or play games? Same with RDNA1 Was his 580 a better buy 5 years later? yeah 100% was but 5 years later the 580 wasnt a good card to use the only reason I went Zen1 was fuck Intel
Yeah people really underestimate how small this community is to the amount of people buying at large. We're like Simba in the stampeding horde, clammering for air.
Isnt Nvidia the ones that locked frame generation from the rtx 20 and 30 series video cards and a modder showed us that these cards are capable of using that tech? Yeah my next card will be amd…
8GB GPUs were around at affordable prices in 2014. 16GB GPUs were around at affordable prices in 2016. We were seeing a doubling of VRAM every generation at every tier up until around that point.
The first nVidia card with more than 6Gb was in 2014, had 12Gb and cost $3000, the next year they released a 12Gb for $1000. In 2016 they released a 8Gb model that cost $600. The first AMD card with 8Gb was in 2014 and cost $550. The following year they released an 8Gb card for $330. None of those prices are adjusted for inflation and none of them could be called affordable.
@@loganmedia4401 $550-$600 was very affordable, the first 16GB card at $999 less so, and most of that 33% inflation only took place between 2021 to late 2023.
Exactly. Once you put at least 16GB of VRAM on an nvidia card you start to have a decent AI card. Obviously, more would be better, but hardly anyone would try to do a local LLM on an 8GB card.
Why AMD even bother trying to compete though, because even when they have had comparable(or better) products at lower prices the Nvidiots have always still bought the Nvidia GPUs. So unless they can do a Ryzen and come up with a total game changer they may as well carry on as they are.
Yup, lot of the fear of buying AMD stems from tech channels, the tech channels over emphasise the usefulness and practicality of DLSS and Ray Tracing. Then you get idiots on reddit etc who just regurgitate these playpoints. Ok nvidia is superior if you want to dable in machine learning with CNNs and AMD went through a rough patch with VR .. but they are both edge cases.

Edit: After a refresh now there is Spanish, French, Portugese and Italian, still no english lol
Mine as well
No idea what's going on, mine is in french.
Same, never had it happen before

If I buy a 4090, will this video play in English?
The more you buy, the more English it gets
If you buy a 4090 you're screwing over everyone in the world that wants a GPU under $1,000 you're also screwing yourself for the future as it's going to be more money than what you bought your 4090 for
It should fine for 1080p low settings
No but it will unlock AI audio translation in the settings along with bit-rate interpolation.
5060 8GB is never going to be anywhere near $200 🤣🤣 I'm guessing at least $400 (Pay more - Get more !NVIDIA!)
5060 and 5060ti will be both 8gb gpus😂
the more you buy the more you save
It will be $300. Remind me in 6 months.
@@KenpachiAjax i would say $330 for 5060 and $420 for 5060ti
@@KenpachiAjax $300 is actually a good price for Nvidia. That is cheaper than the 4060 inflation adjusted.

LMAO

I just want a 60 and 70 class GPU that isn't PCIe 8 lanes and 128 bit only.
Vote with your wallet. Unless your business depends on these cards, you don't need to buy a single one. The only other option is competition.
@@MundaneThingsBackwards that easy for you to say, but its not like people like us can buy less then 0 units.
4060Ti 8GB is clearly a perfect GPU
An 8GB videocard in 2025 = a 4GB card in 2020 = 2GB in 2015. Not worth more than $150 , and that's including inflation tbh.
L take
Why does the audio switch to french and spanish?
Same here lol
Starts in English for a few seconds and then goes into Spanish from the ad spot.
same here this is so fucking weird lol
Literally thought I’ve finally gone crazy
Yeah, haha. No English audio options.
i went from a GTX 1060 6GB that lasted 6 years (and is still alive on another PC that i gifted), to a RTX 3070 8GB and i can say with confidence i cannot play games with RT on (with few exceptions) because it hits the VRAM limit everytime and immediately dips the FPS to unplayable (and i'm playing at 3440x1440p), without RT it works just fine on ultra for most games.
now the only upgrade i was considering was a 5070 16GB or a 5070 ti 16GB but i see they're raising the prices of GPU's again, in Europe we already pay a 20% VAT tax on top of the price, a 4070 Ti super is around 860 euros (shipping NOT included) and i don't want to pay 900 to 1000 euros for such a bad value card (the 5070 ti) when it brings nothing new to the table, is not MUCH better than a 4070 ti super, and eats way more energy (because energy is now expensive in Europe).
i just don't see the point of taking a 12GB VRAM card when it's already obsolete by design and can't reach a decent target framerate in new games, i remember the biggest games i've seen is eating 13GB VRAM at 1440p.
a 60 should be 12GB, a 70 should be 16GB, 70 Ti should be 18 or 20GB (normally an entry to the 4K gaming world GPU), a 80 should be 24GB and the 90 should be 32GB.
now i don't even care about the RTX 5000 series, it's dead on arrival, not enough VRAM, CUDA core count isn't much better than the previous gen, eats way more energy, etc... yes it has GDDR7 but what's the point if you'll hit VRAM limit in all cases and still play at 40FPS.
so anyway, i'll either wait for a 5070 SUPER or Ti SUPER or even the RTX 6000 until this VRAM situation is resolved.
and i agree with you, AMD is doing the same thing and trying to eat NVIDIA's market share on things they can't compete with (lol), at least Intel might be our only hope because they used to make good CPU's and aren't greedy with the VRAM.
8gb on a 3070 is such a waste, why even make that boggles my mind, 12gb would have made more sense but even then for a 70 series 16 or 32 should always be the standard
RUclips fucked up this video.
I've been busy not buying for ages. Unfortunately my fellow gamers are screwing me over by remortgaging their Mom's house to pay for 90 class cards.
More specifically access to credit determines prices but that is to disturbing to get into.
Buyers are freaking idiots. Thats why democracy is falling everywhere, its like COVID did brain damage to most of humanity.

@@mclarenf1gtr99 depends on the market too. Here in India, they are the same price, and you can sometimes find the RTX 4060 for less
One of the indy games I like to play suffers some modest graphical glitch on AMD (sad face emoji) but I do miss the Radeon Software, some of the features and functionality of that are actually better than what Nvidia is packing. And yeah the VRAM has recently been a circus with Nvidia.

AI is what is driving nvidia’s pricing. Why would they sell it cheap to consumers when they could sell it for much more to professionals?
Exactly. Once you put at least 16GB of VRAM on an nvidia card you start to have a decent AI card. Obviously, more would be better, but hardly anyone would try to do a local LLM on an 8GB card.
I was beginning to think I've completely lost it. Then I checked the comments.
