Shifting. Since I am a southpaw boxer, it’s the art and science of me throwing punches from my left hand dominant side (southpaw) then while throwing punches OR NOT, changing my feet position to an orthodox (right handed) stance to unleash my punches. The best boxers that incorporate shifting are Dmitry Pirog 🇷🇺, Gennady Golovkin (GGG), “Iron” Mike Tyson, Marvelous Marvin Hagler (R.I.P.), and the great Jack Dempsey (R.I.P.). Thank you my fellow boxer and champion Yuyu for your boxing expertise and this excellent video upload. 🥊🥊🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💖✝️
I was just trying to teach my son this move at the gym and was having a hard time breaking it down for him but this video was the perfect teacher. Thanks so much for this content. This is a godsend
Sir I want to commend you on an absolutely fantastic instructional. I have been trying to learn this SHIFT foot movement for several weeks watching close to 25 videos. I especially wanted to learn it after Tripple G stated in a video that it was his favorite foot movement. But he cautioned that most people make the mistake of hopping with both feet or crossing their legs/feet together to make the shift. He explained that what he does first is move his back leg/foot first and then makes the pivot. I watched him demonstrate over and over again and I could not pick up what he was doing and what he was trying to get across---that is until I watched you break it down. It all made sense and after watching your instructional I went back to triple G's demo and I could make out what he was doing. I like how you showed the shift in STAGES---that was really great because it shows someone like me how to learn the movement in stages. But what I really loved was your showing how to do a deep shift to get to the back or far side of the opponent, which is what Tripple G likes to do. You are a great instructor and your teaching method is fantastic for people like myself who need to learn in stages and in a step-by-step methodology.
Thank you for your great comment! I’m glad you found this video helpful. I haven’t seen the video of GGG explaining the shift will definitely check it out 🥊
Thank you so much for the step-by-step breakdown of the shift, as well as the footwork drill to improve the execution. Nice and clean, as well as measured...for no wasted energy exertion. I'm subscribing for fact!!! Respect and Love and R.I.P. to Cus D' Amato!!! 💪💪💪❤ Gone....but NEVER forgotten!!!
Appreciate 👍👊. Last part in front of of the camera was my first time ever and so clear to understand you . Amazing trick to show audiences what r u talking about blind spot of opponent
Exactly. I believe this is almost a secret technique. I haven't found many videos that break it down like him. Excellent technique for all martial arts
This is so helpful you were very detailed with the steps and since I don’t go to a boxing gym I always look up videos to learn new things and Just practice them
What makes shifting so risky and tricky is the potential of your opponent picking up and timing your shift. It's a great movement if you can consistently pull it off. You don't see it that often though without a gap in ability between the two fighters.
Another great thing to do is leave the lead hand close up in front of the opponents face to create the illusion that you’re still head on and haven’t shifted
I believe I commented before on your video. Excellent explanation of the angle step ( If that's the proper name for it) I believe footwork is the key in all martial arts. Especially boxing. And I feel this actually movement is one of the secret weapons of boxing. There's not to many other videos I've seen that even show this. Great. Keep up the great work.
Yeah I love this technique. It’s funny I’ve just been practising this for the past month and this is the first time I’ve seen you utilise a bag to get the angles and distance is right. Very clever idea.
While moving to the left or right diagonally or side stepping, or moving forward / backward. Avoid crossing the feet in the Ali shuffle style. Correct footwork requires moving that foot which is in the required intended direction. Regardless of whether you are a southpaw or an orthodox boxer. If moving left in that case move your left foot first.
Love the way you actually break it down fundamentally so you can't get it wrong.
That’s the best way to learn! Chunk it up and slow it down 🥊
Flawless breakdown ✨️
One of the most under appreciated and underrated skill in all sports. Only the greats excel in footwork 💪
100% !
