Myrtle and Rufus are completely normal baby orangutans with no special medical needs. It's kind of unfair comparing Jarang with them. That's like comparing a baby with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc. with a normally developed child. None of us has any idea what Blackpool Zoo has or hasn't done. These videos aren't coming from them and Ape Tracker doesn't work for them. We go days/months without seeing videos of Jingga and Jarang and when we do see them, they are very short videos. Jarang is a one year old orangutan. It's very clear he's getting milk from somewhere, whether it be from Jingga or the caretakers. And Jingga herself had a very rough childhood from her own mother who also had unconventional parenting skills. She still grew up to be a healthy adult female. These animals are a lot more resilient than us humans give them credit for.

Geez, all these negative comments on videos on Jingga and Jarang are exhausting. It's amazing to me that Ape Tracker takes the time to even upload these videos with all the hateful comments that are supposedly showing "concern", but are just pure hateful against an orangutan that no one knows the true situation and has all the facts. So, no sir, you have several seats.

It is 100% fact that Jarang cannot live to be one year old without either Jingga's breast milk or the zoo intervening. Jarang is a one year old. He is getting milk from somewhere, whether it's from Jingga or the zoo. Blackpool Zoo doesn't owe any of us any explanation considering these videos aren't being put out by them. I agree, the comments constantly criticizing Jingga are horrid. The zoo, and orangutan experts say she's doing a good job and is aware of his physical problem , and that J8ngga is quite creative finding ways to care for him. Lots of great apes carry their babies on the foot. Gorillas do it all the time, but when Jingga does it she's branded a bad mother.

@troutfisher7182 As far as I am concerned, she is not fit to mother this baby. They both should have had some intervention. To my knowledge, I've never seen any kind of ape looking after their babies like Jinga has. Any time there's been a problem with the mother the Zoo, rescue centre... Always works to put that right if they can't they try to find another mother to care for it. How's this baby supposed to learn anything if the mother isn't interested? It looks to me like being carried on Jingga’s foot, or by one arm,or the other, has left his shoulders and arms very weak. …
I’m thrilled with his progress and seeing his charming little personality, but I still remember how rigid and clenched his body was when he waited for Jingga’s attention. He’s loosening up now after 1+ year of being dragged and hauled around by his arm and sometimes nicely on her foot. But his whole body was too tense and stiff to develop normal skills. Jingga was, sadly (and I think she’s a gentle, sweet mother), completely unaware of his needs beyond hunger.
