Beach boys are usually trashed for ''bubble gum '' music ...i only checked into them because of a documentary on influences on 60s music. WOW WOW that was a revelation...and Brian Wilson was suffering drugs and something like dimenctia its mirical that he was able to produce such music and clearly they are up their with Beatles influence on rock history....and yes GOD ONLY KNOW WHAT I"D DO WITH OUT YOU is a masterclass to be worshiped.
I was too young (10) to appreciate this album when it was released. I really related to it when I was in my late 20's. It's a series of poignant questions about what it means to assume responsibility as an adult, how to relate to memory and loss. Wrapped in tight harmonies, great arrangements, fantastic bass. Bravo to Brian Wilson.
The #1 ranked album by many publications. #2 by Rolling Stone. Caroline No... it makes me cry. The water bottle percussion is simply amazing. The chord progressions are to die for. The melody... haunting and melancholy. Brian's singing is frickin beautiful. The alto flute solo... gorgeous. Than the dog barking and the train in Brian's real backyard. The Beach Boys helped me through some troubling times. You skipped that part. It puts a button on the ending. But excellent review. Respectfully done. Thank you.
The reason "Pet Sounds" (the song) sounds like a James Bond theme is because it was originally intended to be that, but then Brian Wilson changed his mind and decided to include it on the album.
I felt like Sloop John B is a song about quitting some vice ? Maybe. Like you go partying and its fun but at somepoint you cant do that self destructive stuff any more, you just wanna go home
Listen to Dae Lims Smile AI is absolutely incredible, it’s a re creation of the album that was meant to come after this one but it wasn’t release back in the 60s due to the main song writers mental health. Definitely do a reaction
You’ve skipped over the track after Sloop John B and right before I Know There is an Answer, the track God Only Knows is not to be missed

The original title was "Run James Run"
Wow - that is very interesting. We can visualize Sean Connery and opening graphics for the movie as we listen . 👍
Where is track 8 God Only Knows, you are really missing out not hearing that one.
You skipped over the song called God Only Knows. The best song on the album.
it wasn't intentional :( my version didn't have it
@@StillColour bummer. Can you react to it?
@@StillColour it was a very insightful reaction. I liked it.

this album inspired THE BEATLES TO MAKE SGT PEPPERS

I think the version I had was missing this song, maybe because of UK Copyright? I will make sure to listen to this missing track!!
@@StillColouryeah, great reactions. But definitely try and react to “God Only Knows”. Sir Paul McCartney’s favorite song.
