The song is about her first love. When she was in high school and first getting noticed in Destiny’s Child her boyfriend at the time was cheating on her. Apparently he couldn’t deal with her fame. But if you look in the credits of the first couple of Destiny’s Child album she thanks him on those albums. That’s why the throw back parts of this video are dated that way. The scenes at the wedding are of her now and happy and how she’s thankful she dodged that bullet of that other guy

This song was about her first love Lyndall Locke they dated for 10 years through the relationship he cheated on her twice at the beginning and towards the end he’s been interviewed about their relationship and to sum it up he couldn’t handle the fame and wanted them to live a normal life but fame was all she was trained for her whole life
They did not date for 10 years, did you watch the interview or skim? He said they met when he was 15 and she was 13. They dated for about a year and broke up then got back together when she was 15/16 and broke up again when she was 19. She got with JayZ at 19. So there was no way they were together for 10 years.

I’m sorry but with all due respect, I think you guys are reacting to some of her worst songs. Most of these songs lack substance. I think you need to look into her more in terms of vocal ability and her amazing production( which she is heavily involved with) Yes, her visuals are nice and there’s obvious sex appeal but that’s not all there’s is to Beyoncé.
I highly recommend: Daughter, Plastic off the sofa, and Daddy lessons. These are some of the best songs I’ve heard from her thus far.
