This was put up in 2014 so it probably came put that year. Gay marriage wasn't fully legalized in the States until 2015. It took longer for gay couples to be fully integrated into media. I think it's a straight song to be appealing to the at the time considered "average" straight person, with this video to show support for lesbianism, but combined can feed into the male 3some fantasy.
