  • Adding Dual Z Axis to Ender 3 V2 - Z Axis Belt Drive
I show how to add a dual Z axis using a drive belt and pulley system, in this case it is used in conjuction with the dual Z stepper motor system which I did a video about previously • 🔴 Creality Ender 3 V2 ... , this is done to keep the Z axis stepper motors in sync with each other.

Interesting to see Creality's approach compared to my AnyCubic i3 Mega which has dual screws/motors, because it also has a Z microswitch (level) at each side, so when I HOME the printer both motors zero themselves so the bed is horizontal again. This means level by feedback instead of level by relative position I guess. Glass bed also out the box.

I have an Aquila X2 (I think it is the X2) which is based on the Creality Ender 3 V2, came with a glass print bed.
I had to do a few ugprades with it just to get it to be 'usable', I put 4 bed clips around it to secure the glass bed to the metal bed, as I found that as the bed warmed up, the metal bed deformed away from the glass bed..... Also had to upgrade it to have yellow springs, as the regular ones were rubbish, when they compressed they would shift slightly, thus changing the bed levelling.
It's mostly decent now, though it's a PITA to level the stupid thing, basically just sits there doing nothing these days, the other issue it has is the spool being at the top means the filament is forever breaking...

Very nice vid @TheDefPom what is this small upgrade kit you got here? Because i bought the quiet expensive official creality dual z axis upgrade and was disappointed noticing that this is not enough, cause they will go out of sync. Yesterday i ordered two pulleys and a open belt. I thought i could close the belt with copper clips but what wont work after thinking about it😅
So whats the kit called you ordered, what should i search for or whats the length of the closed belt? Thank you very much

Why can't you just remove the blocks at the top of the lead screws with the x gantry set at the bottom? There should be enough safe flex in the lead screws to remove them, insert the pulleys and fit the belt. That's how the block was originally fitted to the single lead screw on first assembly.

Nice. I do recommend you look at direct drive.
Dual Z means no weight issue of a stepper on the gantry (a pancake stepper is better though).
I used to swear by glass but then I got a PEI bed.

And nice! The way you layered your bed is exactly what i wanna do. Keep the glass bed so it doesnt bend but on top of this inwant to use the magnetic bed. Only thing i wonder is how you make the magnetic stick on the glass bed, yours looks kinda lose also. Right, and i guess you have to setup a higher heat with these layers.. would be nice if you could make a video about how you made your bed combination and which settings you use ❤
