This video was a huge inspiration for me to make the jump from Adobe Animate to Toon Boom. I'm hoping I can learn to rig a full turnaround before the trial is over. haha. Great work, Eddy!
You really look like you know what you are doing when it come to using that animation software. I had Toon Boom Premium for about 3 months now, and i still am stuck on creating my front view of my character. Soo much to learn!
Don't give up! the Harmony learning curve is really steep, but once you're over it everything becomes really easy! After you've made like 2 or 3 builds there's pretty much nothing holding you back at that point
I'm the same I like frame by frame animations than rigging one because rigging takes a very long time and you will be tired for making a film for more than hours and at least you will stop making animations that's really tiredness but in frame by frame animations it's just simple drawing you have to drawing cartoon characters by their body and their clothes sometimes frame by frame animations it's also hard to animate because it takes a long time to make an animated film and then you will stop making a film and you not complete it so you have to learn it for how you make it in easy way to finish it animations it's really hard
SO ths application allows you to build a rig from vector paths and then also does tweeting of these paths? THats is some powerful app! Painstaking job, but looks so incredible!!!
When i animate i just import images of each body part i drawn, using the envolope to help me out even rigging as well. However, they're mostly facing the 3/4 view position alot XD
I love this program. It has so many features others dont. The most helpful tool ever for me has been the Invisible lines when pressing K and closing gap when painting
Yeah you're right that makes it to easy to see through a characters for how to looks like to complete it without it your animations will be so much bad
I'm only animating about 8months. I use Animate CC but the bone tool is just terrible on it. I use the free transform tool. All my movements are pretty much FK and not IK. It's tedious. After watching what you did here, is really making me question whether or not I should move to Toon Boom. I love your style of drawings. They're fantastic to look at
The tech looks amazing and I see your very skilled but I don't think I could ever being myself to do it. Character rigging looks so robotic next to the organic nature hand animation, I miss hand animated cartoons so much..
Wow, I'm kinda new (about 3 years, but in and mostly out) to the program. I mostly worked in frame by frame animation, but your workflow is sooo good, I've learned a lot; my rigging would be improved. Thanks!!!
wow, increibles rigs.... usas master controler para algunas de tus animaciones ?.. por que manejar todos esos Deformadores debe ser super heavy, de igual manera, exelentes personajes, saludos
Yes I will choose toon boom harmony one but I want frame by frame animations not rigging because rigging it's very hard and you have to learn it to make it by yourself
wow :) ... Do you animate by adding key frames (drawing) between the sample animations in the video that you made with rigging? (I mean; do you use both rig and keyframe animation mixed?) if you don't use; how to use such a way, I could not see sample video or guide? Thank you
hey bro. how do you move the arms without breaking the drawing ? I cant do it :( EDIT: I just looked at your Hierarchy Tree Node. I just gotta say BRUHHH.
THIS IS AMAZING! ❤️ What's the name of this kind of animation? It's like 2d with 3d? I don't know how to name that! Do you think maybe do tutorials about this? I really want to learn this kind of animation, bc drawing a lot of times is some hard for me haha I love your work, thanks for shared this
this would be a 2d rig, a very advanced one. Many drawn 2d parts are layered up, and are then moved around and distorted frame by frame to produce the impressive 3d effect.
i give it a month u will get 5k sub.......man u r talented!!!!! i need to learn a lot with this software........ keep it up!!!! Q&A: i is possible u can trace a pic inside toon boom?
Really impressive stuff. At 1:05 I'm trying to get my head around how you did that? Each frame of the "3D" rotation seems so smooth. Can you give any insight - is it just being a great graphic artist, or are there any tools in Harmony to help calculate all those changes in such an organic way? Thanks!
Thank you! I think the trick to getting a smooth rotation in a build is to have a design based on simple shapes. Harmony might have a hard time calculating how a complex shape would transition from point A to point B, but when the pieces are mostly squished circles and wedges it becomes much easier for the software to handle!
Oh yeah I don't think I know anyone who owns a permanent license for Toon Boom! Getting a yearly or monthly license works well for me at least. Right now they're offering home licenses for free until June 1st to support animators affected by Covid-19, so that might be a good option if you wanna try it out!
@@EddyPed Thank you I will try it out, also do you have any tricks on how to animate with pen sensitivity, its annoying when I draw one frame and then the lines on the next frame look completely different. It has me contemplating animating without pressure sensitivity
@@designingwaves Monthly for me would eventually just cost more after using it for a year if you eventually pay for a permanent license. If I were you try and download the trial and just watch as much tutorials you can digest and take lots of notes and questions. The key, is think one tool box at a time. Know each and every functions and you'll get them eventually. The node or network window can be daunting at first, but it really is not once you understand the concept of nesting. Or look at studios who are looking for interns and learn the program there ;')
Hi Eddy, I love your rigging demo reel. It's amazing! I'm making a student animation demo reel and I need several Harmony characters. So I was wondering, do you offer or sell your rigged characters? THX ;D
I'm frame by frame animator and I animated only for drawing and not rigging I don't want to takes a very long time because it's really hard to take a time for animate so I prefer frame by frame animation one
Do you sell these rigs for use in demos by chance? Trying to find a rig to use for learning harmony / creating a demo reel, but cannot find a good resource library for harmony rigs.
The short answer is that, although Animate and Toon Boom have their merits when it comes to traditional animation, when it comes to rig animation Toon Boom is just a much more focused and powerful tool! It takes a lot of queues from 3D modelling and incorporates them very seamlessly into a 2D medium. The even shorter answer is that that's what most studios in Canada use nowadays, so I gotta stay sharp in Toon Boom to keep getting work :P
