- Pioneering Engage with China Scholars have been given a life-changing opportunity to study in Changzhou, China, for two years to do their A-levels at an international boarding school. Discover how their lives have been dramatically enriched through this experience living and studying alongside their Chinese peer group, developing skills in sports, music, debating and the mandarin language, as well as embracing the Chinese culture and enjoying cultural visits to famous places like Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou.
This scholarship is the brainchild of Engage with China and Wycombe Abbey Schools in China and was established in the summer 2023. The vision is to build a cultural and educational bridge between China and the UK and to develop greater mutual understanding and opportunities. The current cohort consists of 10 students. In the Autumn 2024, another 30 scholars will move to Wycombe Abbey Schools in China as the scholarship programme expands.
Young people seeing the Truth over Western Propaganda, I like it!
And don't forget to smile! 2:00
Free Tibet.
Western culture makes with Chinese heritage and I'm so happy to see those young people have the opportunity to study in China, this will
give them a great learning curve to bring the best of both worlds. We need more young people like them and more important to share their experience in China or Chinese students can go to UK for
studies. More important, they can share their kindness and they can contribute peace and stability in the future. They are our future.
I've been watching western travellers visiting China and was very surprised how bilingual the signs were. That is very inviting. Personally, I find written Chinese intimidating to look at! So I was very impressed to see the foreign students using it already.
Her plano is excellent ❤
These are budding scholars, genuine scholars nonetheless.
Very good. China would do really well to build relations with the UK rather than the US, not just to learn proper English, but politically as well.
UK has far more in common with US than China. Will they bring home CCP goals & values to the UK. Will they support the Russians in their war of aggression in Ukraine?
The students should learn Xi thought to get a more complete Chinese experience. Are they allowed to freely discuss issues? No censorship
"China is a growing market" ffs it's the biggest market lol
india!
@@wilson0347 lol it's definitely not india lol, their market is not big at all lol
Biggest market, maybe but domestic consumption is low?
@@Andy-P is it? Let's look at the stats and see for yourself OK,
@@Jin-o9u Domestic consumption is poor in China. Even the CCP admit that.
Let's arrange for a tour of the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan) in Beijing so that these kids can see how their ancestors ransacked and looted China.
It will come as a shock to them as subjects like the Opium Wars, the plunder and destruction of the Summer Palace, are not taught in schools.
Yup, should be taught about how Britain force opium on China & took Hong Kong as a colony as a result of the Opium wars!
Firstly, British teenagers study and discuss Britain's colonial past extensively, including being able to freely debate its merits and the wrongs committed by British colonialists. Secondly, the ransack of the Summer Palace was in response to the cold blooded murder of European prisoners of war. Perhaps that later fact is not included in your history curriculum.
@@andrewsmith3613 Prisoner of war? Is that a joke? To the Chinese they are the aggressors, invaders who were trying to intoxicate them with opium. Distorting the fact does not justify your plundering of another sovereign state. Wake up.
@@andrewsmith3613 Ask yourself - why and what were the Europeans doing in China? They were colonialists, intruders, uninvited and were in a foreign country. In any case, avenging the deaths of some European prisoners did not justify the scale of destruction and looting on what was and is regarded as magnificent cultural heritage.
Whoever appreciates the virtues of Confuciusm is automatically a friend of us.
I appreciate more Daoism and Buddhism.
Ruxanda Ursu's first language is likely Romanian...
So she speaks three languages then?
I am all for cultural exchanges. This leads to international friendship, understanding and harmony.
So, let's have more of it.
Just ignore the killjoy politicians.
"Just ignore the killjoy politicians." Well said!
good
I didnlt need to "be taught" about china. There are encyclopaedias in every school library, many books and novels have been written. You can start with "The Good Earth". I did. DOn't kids have any curiosity these days.
Do they learn Xi thought as part of the Chinese experience. I think they should.
澳洲人吧?
Wish I could participate
Do these children and scholars still live in China? I hope not.
these British students should learn about Opium War first!
Most Chinese forgot about that thing already
If you mention opium war to them they would not know what is it.
@@sleefy2343 I doubt that is true. I would guess that it's well-known in China. Chinese call it "the century of humiliation." But I think it's wrong to hit teenagers with the wrongs of their forebears as a first priority. Counterproductive, mean, unfair. Of course teens should learn this history but beat them down with it the moment they arrive when you're trying to promote peace and friendliness? hulyu5518 is not wise.
Perhaps China should have learnt from this and not invaded Tibet and destroyed their cultural heritage?
@@maryhuckaby2239 Yes because China has never done anything wrong ever in the history of the world. The Chinese are all like non-violent Buddhist monks living in peace and harmony with all sentient beings...

Be less critical on young people.Encourage them to learn through errors
Let me put it straight, l never fear China and their success on communism practise. because although I can never be As good/altruistic as a chinese Communist, as a Normal selfish person who pretty much enjoy living by my work, Loving my family and the world and caring only for those i feel responsible for. i reasonably admire their genuine altruism intension for all classes of their people, matureness of their governance and recent decades of economical growth, they still had huge richest versus poor gap however they were able to get rid of extremely poor and every human in their country are able to work and earn a life that worth living. simple moral tells me, i am not those rich people can only rely on nonproductive financial games, robbery, colonizing, prosecution, invasion, bombarding and all kinds of strong predator weak meat war crime to get money and power, nor i care to be those racist who were so pathetic to watching people dog fighting for fun, every good soul on earth shall never fear or jealous of China's peaceful progress as long awaited evolution of human civilization.
Her plano is excellent ❤
Kindness and etiquette in Chinese people?!? That's a first.
Then how God bless them with such a Great Population like numerous sand by the sea shore? . Definitely something right about them that God bless them. Imagine if China people did not sabotage God's blessing by employing one child policy... Definitely 2 to 3 billion people in little China is possible. 😅😅😅😅
Chinese people living in countries like Britain and US used to endure abuses, both verbal and physical, and discrimination all the time, just for being Chinese.
AWWWWWW Where did the Chinese people touch you???? Keep on shouting at the clouds XDDD
@@antwango They 'touch' most people on the planet and their assessment is the same. Even the Chinese know this deep down. Have a nice day and keep popping the Xanax!
