When making cookies remember that baking is a complicated chemical reaction between ingredients. Salt is part of that equation. Adding too muck OR too little can have an effect on the end result. It isn’t about making the cookies taste salty, it is part of making them turn out properly. Make sure you don’t skimp out on salt any more than you would any other ingredient, it is there for a reason. I’ve been baking on my own from age 4, ask how I know this🙂.
Cookies flatten when the butter is too soft, which can happen from over mixing (spoken from experience 😉). I wonder if cooking them on foil helped them overcook. Parchment paper is good for baking. Still a great recipe, I’m taking it down to try with my family.
Mindy, use parchment paper instead of foil to line your cookie sheets. I think the foil heats up too much and bakes them too fast. Hope this helps! 😊❤️👍🎄 🍪
Hey mindy! Add the salt back in to the recipe! The salt and baking powder and baking soda have to be added to the flour at the same time, there’s some kind of chemical reaction that happens! When you try to cut out the salt it will never come out right :)
We are so happy for you here in the UK...having struggled to have both my little miracles I can't believe my beautiful boy is 16 tomorrow! Enjoy this festive season and relax and take care...much love to you and your family 💕
Somehow I knew Larry would get her that mixer. He’s a good guy!! I agree with the lady when she said the foil and butter were the issues with cookies. I’m with your grandpa, burnt cookies are my favorite also, especially peanut butter cookies with some burnt crispy edges. Mmmmm
Will try to make the cookies. Sad that the batch didn’t work out. Can understand why you would want to cry because bit didn’t work out. I sometimes have that too, it is just because you (probably) are tired and put so much effort into making it. Love that Larry went out to get a kitchen aid, because that truly works wonders. I love mine too. Love seeing you all (including the kitties) ❤️
Looks like you used the attachment on the mixer that is used for whipping….when making cookies and cakes use the paddle attachment not the whip attachment. That may help with over whipping. Aluminum foil is part of the problem too.
When the vanilla spilled as well as the ice cube, did Larry say, "vanilla ice?" I'm dying if he said that! He is so funny! I bet the cookies are still delicious 😋
When you're using a kitchen mixer it's really easy to over mix... I've done it when baking cakes... Especially if yours has the bigger motor like mine you really have to watch it
It’s hard to bake cookies trays at several levels, especially too close to the bottom of the oven. My mother used to make similar recipe 60 years ago which turned out flat and crisp, which we loved! and I have never been able to make to go flat! I think yours are perfect! 👍
Okay, so, with cookies, always use parchment or a silicone mat, you indeed did over mix when you added the flour, next time slowly add the flour and mix until combined with a wooden spoon or a rubber spatula, and make sure you chill your dough for at least an hour until you bake!!!!! Just some helpful tips from a girl who loves baking ❤️
You should have kept the paddle attachment on instead of switching to the whisk attachment. The whisk attachment adds too much air into your batter. It was ok to beat the butter and sugar together til smooth and soft. Add eggs until combined. After adding flour is when you should not over mix. So I think what you did before the flour is ok except the part where you changed the attachment over to the whisk. Also, refrigerate your cookie batter in puck form before you bake helps. Foil is not the best option to bake cookies on. Use parchment paper.
Awee loved this! With Larry and his jokes trying to make you feel better haha! If the first time doesn’t come out right, then maybe the second time will be amazing!!❤️
Sweetie, foil reflects and holds heat. Like Cathleen said parchment paper or grease the cookie sheet if the recipe calls for that. Otherwise a non greased sheet. Some dry ingredients measuring cups will help with the chemistry. Only trying to help. You should see my 105 year old Fanny Farmer cookbook. It’s almost impossible to bake from that. We are so excited for you and Larry, congratulations on the little one.
I knew Larry was going to surprise you with a kitchen aid mixer, what a sweetheart!! Makes me want one now!! Lol 😂 We’ve been enjoying vlogmas so much!! We don’t want it to come to an end! 😭
looks like not enough flour and that you measured the dry ingredients with a liquid measuring cup rather than a dry measure. and this does make a difference. Also, weather plays a role in baking.
Thank you for the love, and keeping it real in your videos. I look forward to each video, and enjoy the comedy, happiness, genuine caring, and love you bring to us. I'm so happy for you & Larry. Merry Christmas & a Happy 2022 to you & yours! BYEEEEEEE! 😁
Try putting the cookie dough in the fridge for an hour before baking to solidify the butter again and your cookies won’t thin out whilst baking! Works everytime. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Oh what a sweet husband you have! You know I think you snagged Larry at a Great time. The younger generation needs to take heed and some older ones too. Them cookies looked good even though they were thin! Enjoy your Christmas week!
Just a friendly FYI, the measuring cups you used for sugar are liquid measuring cups. I don't think it matters a ton, just not as accurate of measurements. That spill of vanilla...I was like omg noooo that's so expensive!! Lol Vanilla ice was funny though! 🤣
Larry is the Man!! I just had to toss my Sunbeam Stand Mixer, which I loved.. I got a fork caught in the whisks and the teeth that hold in the the thingie on the mixer broke off. All of them. So it was no fixing it. I don't think I'm getting a new one for Christmas so I'll be looking after Christmas.
Try cleaning the coffee maker by running white vinegar through it. You’ll need to run a few cycles of water through it after to remove the vinegar taste, but the vinegar will help clean the mineral buildup and you’ll have normal sized brewing after!
I made ranger cookies/cowboy cookies I add 3 cups oatmeal, 3 cups chocolate chips, 2 cups coconut, 2 cups chopped pecans, 2 cups rice crispies. They are sooooo good. This is my new favorite cookie
Whipping attachment, paddle or mixing attachment, dough attachment. Don't whip what needs to be mixed and use dough attachment after adding the dry ingredients. ❤️❤️❤️
Definitely try putting the dough in the fridge if you feel it's too soft. Plus the foil isn't great for cookie baking. Definitely invest in some silpat silicone mats or baking paper. So happy you got a Kitchenaid. They're so worth it
Reduce the oven temp. to 180c on aburner above and below 20min. And also reduce the butter ( add half the amount of butter) you will be impressed with the results ... 👍
Oh girl. ❤️ So when you’re baking on separate shelves like that you have to rotate because some are closer to the coils. AND never set the time for exactly how much time they say it takes. If it says 15 minutes then you need to check them after 9-10 minutes. Love you guys!❤️
The ranger cookie recipe I use only calls for 1 tsp. vanilla. You used 1 1/2 tablespoons. That could have also changed the consistency with the over softened butter. Also, did you measure the brown sugar in that glass liquid measuring cup. Make sure you measure your dry ingredients with dry measuring cups. That may also be part of the issue.
Next time use the paddle not the whisk attachment. The whisk incorporated to much air into the dough, the paddle will just mix without them getting to much air mixed in.
Going to miss vlog mas when it ends love your vlogs. Really wish I could find such cute Xmas mugs we don’t have many here in Australia I found one ok one the others where more for kids.
The Vanilla Ice comment from Larry was hilarious! And I couldn't help but comment about the burnt cookie and your grandpa liking them. When I was a morning cook I had an elderly customer who is it customer who declared he wanted burnt toast. I burnt the toast and put it on the plate and served him. He told me to take it back and burn it again. Double burnt... yikes. So... yeah It must be something from his and their generation. Happy Christmas week. I'm going to try your range cookie recipe. Thanks
I thought to myself I bet Larry buys Mindy a mixer like her mom's n wella in walks Larry with the mixer I was wrong about the colour. Your a super hubby Larry. Sending hugs from Ontario Canada

Hi Mindy 💕 maybe you and Larry can do a Q&A on all things baby, excitements/fears, parenting style plans, anything! From the perspective now that you are actually pregnant!!! 🤗
Hi Mindy and Larry! Merry Christmas! I think that you over mixed them, and you also are using the wrong attachment in your mixer. A flat beater is what you want to use for cookies, not a whisk.
Mindy you can use parchment paper for your cookies .Reynolds Wrap will make t your cookies stick unless its stick free. Also you can use Bakers Joy which is a flour and oil spray great for cookies, brownies and all baked goods. Love your video and hi to Larry,Lexi and Luna . You have a great husband in Larry him getting you a early Christmas present a Kitchenaid Mixer .Wishing you and your family including the new baby on the way a very Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year 2022
Larry’s joke made me laugh too hard haha. Also tip the Pyrex is mostly for liquid. And the actual measuring scoops are for dry. I’ve learned that the hard way! The cookies still look yummy!!
I saw thev reunion trailer looks epic but don’t be sad about the 🍪 you tried your best n it dint come out the best , not everything goes perfectly as planned , and you gonna get me in the HP reading mode n now u got the classic Kitchen aid so u gotta make Larry a special batch of cookies 🍪 seal with a kiss lol
Hiiieeee!!!! 👋 Well here in north Texas we’re definitely not gonna have winter weather on Christmas. It’s going to be 85 degrees ☀️!!!! Today’s high was 50 🤦🏻♀️ . Texas weather let me tell ya. Vanilla Ice!!! That was soooo perfect. Larry is fantastic 👏
Imagine how different your lives will look at this time next year ! 💖
Cookies flatten when the butter is too soft, which can happen from over mixing (spoken from experience 😉). I wonder if cooking them on foil helped them overcook. Parchment paper is good for baking. Still a great recipe, I’m taking it down to try with my family.
Yes! Mindy use Parchment Paper next time,, using foil tends to over bake them
But a Silpat or a silicone baking mat.
Yes foil is not good.
Mindy, use parchment paper instead of foil to line your cookie sheets. I think the foil heats up too much and bakes them too fast. Hope this helps! 😊❤️👍🎄 🍪
Thanks for the tip! I always use parchment paper but was completely out, just picked some up at the store today!
I completely agree on the foil you should never use foil when making cookies. It’s better just to have them on the pan
Margarine has salt in it. So u could leave added salt as in recipe 😊
Larry: "Look, Vanilla Ice!" Good one Larry, loved it.
That was so great of Larry to get that mixer for you!
Larry!!!! That’s such an amazing gift!
Hey mindy! Add the salt back in to the recipe! The salt and baking powder and baking soda have to be added to the flour at the same time, there’s some kind of chemical reaction that happens! When you try to cut out the salt it will never come out right :)
Exactly what I was going to say.
We are so happy for you here in the UK...having struggled to have both my little miracles I can't believe my beautiful boy is 16 tomorrow! Enjoy this festive season and relax and take care...much love to you and your family 💕
Aw Happy 16th to your sweet boy! Thank you so much and wishing you and your family a very happy festive season as well!
Somehow I knew Larry would get her that mixer.

Awesome present 🎁 Larry! So nice of you to get that for your sweetie.

Love seeing you all (including the kitties) ❤️
Aww how adorable is Larry bringing you an early christmas present 🥺.. I’m SO excited about the Harry Potter reunion!! Xx
mindi dont get yourself down it happens. they still look good. stay happy your not the first person that has burned cooks before
I always use salted butter and I use salt in a recipe I don’t ever notice a difference.
Looks like you used the attachment on the mixer that is used for whipping….when making cookies and cakes use the paddle attachment not the whip attachment. That may help with over whipping. Aluminum foil is part of the problem too.
Congrats on the kitchen aide mixer. Im obsessed with mine i use it for everything
Hiiiieeee! So excited for the video! Merry Christmas to you and your growing little family ❤️
Hieeee & Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
When the vanilla spilled as well as the ice cube, did Larry say, "vanilla ice?" I'm dying if he said that! He is so funny! I bet the cookies are still delicious 😋
Dying! How sweet, kitchen aids are the best💜✨
When you're using a kitchen mixer it's really easy to over mix... I've done it when baking cakes... Especially if yours has the bigger motor like mine you really have to watch it
OMG WHAAAAAAT CHRISTMAS MIRACLE WE CAN SEE THEM & SO R U TELLING ME LOL THERE ARE "TWO TURTLE DOVES"!!!

Love these Cookies!! Larry and his jokes 🤣 "Look its Vanilla Ice " so Funny! Can't believe Christmas is almost here .Love you guys!!!
Larry she will definitely cry if she decides to pump and that milk spills!! Sending you all lots of love and well wishes!!
looks like not enough flour and that you measured the dry ingredients with a liquid measuring cup rather than a dry measure. and this does make a difference. Also, weather plays a role in baking.
Ahhh bless. I just love your honesty xx
taste them!!! I bet they taste WWAAYY than you think! also you could could chocolate dip them.
Vanilla Ice...we love you Larry
Thank you for the love, and keeping it real in your videos. I look forward to each video, and enjoy the comedy, happiness, genuine caring, and love you bring to us. I'm so happy for you & Larry. Merry Christmas & a Happy 2022 to you & yours! BYEEEEEEE! 😁
Larry “hey look it’s vanilla ice” best part of the video 😂😂😂😂 love it hahah
Lol. Love you girl!!! 💘 I hope u and larry have a great Christmas!
Try putting the cookie dough in the fridge for an hour before baking to solidify the butter again and your cookies won’t thin out whilst baking! Works everytime. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Always use parchment paper for lining any baking tins and trays, been doing this for 50 years and never fails.
My favorite part of the day is when I get the notification for a new a new video 🥰🎅🏼🎄🤶🏼
Mindy, if you ever get your batter too thin, you can add flour. It won't affect the taste and it will thicken the batter up.
I live in Asheville, NC... No snow yet but it has been sleeting this evening!
Downton Abbey is my all favorite series (other than McLeod’s Daughters) but I can’t wait for DA2 in March 🤗🤗🤗
Oh what a sweet husband you have! You know I think you snagged Larry at a Great time. The younger generation needs to take heed and some older ones too. Them cookies looked good even though they were thin! Enjoy your Christmas week!
I have one of those kitchen aid mixers and they are game changing! Enjoy your early present 😍
Just a friendly FYI, the measuring cups you used for sugar are liquid measuring cups. I don't think it matters a ton, just not as accurate of measurements. That spill of vanilla...I was like omg noooo that's so expensive!! Lol Vanilla ice was funny though! 🤣
Larry surprising you with the mixer! ;)
Awe Mindy don't cry!! I would try another batch
My friend gave me her kitchen aide a few years ago haven't used it much but nice to have ♡
Look at that beautiful glow!!!!! 😘🤰 Merry Christmas to y'all!! And a Happy New Year!! 🎄🦌☃️❄️
Try cleaning the coffee maker by running white vinegar through it. You’ll need to run a few cycles of water through it after to remove the vinegar taste, but the vinegar will help clean the mineral buildup and you’ll have normal sized brewing after!
Try using parchment paper and only bake one cookie sheet on the middle rack at a time!
I look forward to your videos everyday! Happy Tuesday! 😊
Thank you & happy Tuesday!
@@MindyMinx Larry is the sweetest too! How cute that he surprised you with a new kitchen aid mixer. 🥰
Aww! That was so sweet of Larry!
Putting the batter into the fridge for a couple of hours will help if batter is too thin. Then bake.
I think it was the attachment you used, the one you used is for whipping…use the flat paddle. How thoughtful of Larry to buy you one!
I made ranger cookies/cowboy cookies I add 3 cups oatmeal, 3 cups chocolate chips, 2 cups coconut, 2 cups chopped pecans, 2 cups rice crispies. They are sooooo good. This is my new favorite cookie
Can you post your whole recipe please?? Sounds amazing!
Lol I get so sad when you either start the vlog later in the day or end it before bed time lol so into these they're such feel good vlogs:)!
I made your ranger cookies!! So yummy!! Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas ❤
I love anything burnt 🙃 , send them here!!!!and nothing can top burnt cookies!!!!!!😋
...The cookies are the christmas tree lights all over again lol!
Love you both! Congrats on the baby, soooo happy for you both 🤗🤗
2 of the batches look good. Grandpa will love the burnt ones. Who else would do that? MEE!!
Whipping attachment, paddle or mixing attachment, dough attachment. Don't whip what needs to be mixed and use dough attachment after adding the dry ingredients. ❤️❤️❤️
Also it usually helps if you bake one cookie sheet at a time
Definitely try putting the dough in the fridge if you feel it's too soft. Plus the foil isn't great for cookie baking. Definitely invest in some silpat silicone mats or baking paper. So happy you got a Kitchenaid. They're so worth it

Way to go Larry......how sweet to get the kitchen aid
I thought to myself I bet Larry buys Mindy a mixer like her mom's n wella in walks Larry with the mixer I was wrong about the colour. Your a super hubby Larry. Sending hugs from Ontario Canada
Hey Ladybug!! It's raining and cold here...49 I think.
I'm making a second batch of Ranger Cookies!! Giving some away as gifts.
I've always wondered why not just use
self-rising flour, instead of adding baking

Oh no, move your phone from the spill.
I put peanut butter and white chocolate chips in mine.

Hugs to you!!! Don't stress my friend.
The first batch of fudge I.made, on the day it was 74 and humid here....my fudge
was sticky. I.was so upset.
Humidity does play a factor in making
certain candy.
Enjoyed hanging out with you!!
Love and Hugs to you and your family!!
Hope you got my Christmas cards!!
They're so very yummy!!!
I probably wouldn’t eat the burnt ones but I would totally eat the crispy ones!! They looked delicious! 🎅🏽🥰

Hi Mindy 💕 maybe you and Larry can do a Q&A on all things baby, excitements/fears, parenting style plans, anything! From the perspective now that you are actually pregnant!!! 🤗
I am gonna do these cookies soon. I am busy this Christmas week but I will do them after Christmas. My wedding is in 2022! I can’t wait for 2022
Hi Mindy and Larry! Merry Christmas! I think that you over mixed them, and you also are using the wrong attachment in your mixer. A flat beater is what you want to use for cookies, not a whisk.
I think you’re right, I think I definitely shouldn’t have used the whisker. Oops!
Now you've got your own, brand new mixer to perfect them! I'm sure your next cookies will come out perfect!
Naww how sweet of Larry for your mixer. You will be able to cook grandmas ranger cookies with your own kids one day ❤
Mindy you can use parchment paper for your cookies .Reynolds Wrap will make t your cookies stick unless its stick free. Also you can use Bakers Joy which is a flour and oil spray great for cookies, brownies and all baked goods. Love your video and hi to Larry,Lexi and Luna . LOLOL!!! Hey look it’s vanilla ice… 😂🤣😂
Hiiieeee!!!! 👋
Well here in north Texas we’re definitely not gonna have winter weather on Christmas. It’s going to be 85 degrees ☀️!!!! Today’s high was 50 🤦🏻♀️ . Texas weather let me tell ya.
Your cookies over cooked because of the foil. Back on parchment paper next time 👍🏻.
Byeee!!! Merry Christmas EVERYONE 🎅 🎄 🎁
Krispies Chocolate Caramel Bar - (search it) kinda reminds me of your cookies a bit.. Its the Krispies based bottom with flour brown sugar.. pressed! ..then chocolate chips and melted caramel and chopped walnuts..then krispies top!
Mindy how will you plan your days when you have baby? Will you continue with all the things you love, how do you plan to balance it?
1. Parchment paper instead of tin foil. Tin foil absorbs heat which makes it cook faster.
2. Too long in the oven. Whatever the recipe says, Check it a couple minutes early.
3. Oven might be a hotter temp than the setting says. Recommend a oven thermometer!
💜❤️💕💯🎄
Mindy it's like 30 degrees up here in Chicago
lol, when I was in my 1st trimester, I cried over bagels. I would put it in the toaster and it burnt...not just once...I went through the bag...all but 1! LOL cracked me up but I was crying. LOL you are the cutest! Love that new mixer! That is what i want too! Cant wait to see how your cookies come out with your new mixer!
The butter was probably too soft. Baking is finicky. Larry is too sweet! I hope you love the mixer. I have the bowl lift.
Omg Larry cracks me up! It's vanilla ice lol
Ready with afternoon coffee ☕️ 🎄❤️
Enjoy & thanks so much for watching!
