When I look at the frames of some of these gymnasts, I find myself praying they don't get injured especially ones who have a tendency to come up short on landings on vault and floor.
@@hazelnutspred3348 neither Jordan nor Jade would be contributing on beam with Simone/Suni/Shilese who are all higher scoring and also more consistent. I think Jordan, Jade, and Leanne all fell on beam at nationals day 2, and while Kayla has hit 4 beam routines this year, her day 2 beam was also quite rough, scoring a point below her day 1 even without a fall. Jordan also fell on beam at nationals and World Trials last year as well as at Worlds 2022. And Leanne fell at Worlds 2023 and at this year's US Classic. The only other consistent beamer besides the top three is Tiana as she has hit 13+ all five routines this year, but she doesn't have the scoring potential there yet. Next year though, I can totally see Tiana winning beam and floor gold at worlds.
@@Plaspos Spot on. I think many want their faves to make the team as specialists but they aren't needed except for alt. I have some faves too, but I'm realistic so I adjust my expectations.
@Nixmathis It just opens the door for a specialist on two apps to move into that slot. This year the talent is so deep for AA that they don't need a fifth, but the rules are 5.

She might have been going for a Chusa and just didn't do the twist after she felt her achilles give way on takeoff (she injured it on takeoff, not landing).
This is so upsetting. She's such a talented gymnast and it's heartbreaking that this is the second time that an injury derails her Olympics journey. Hoping that the injury isn't serious and that we'll see her next quad.

I sure hope this wasn’t due to either her, coaches or anyone else pushing her to add an element that she didn’t have before. What she didn’t nationals would be enough. All she had to do was do each routine clean, and she’d still be in the race! Don’t mess with what’s working, it’s too risky at this point in the game!
It's a shame because a clean program carryover from nationals would have sealed the deal. She would have proven consistency. Now she's out. And there was no rational reason to upgrade anything.

This is an athlete who pushed when she didn't need to. Her skills were fine at nationals and she only needed to keep those clean and hit, and she'd be rewarded favorably. She doesn't know when enough is enough. Lack of self-awareness.
loved her but tbh she probably would’ve been an alternate due to her inconsistency issues at previous world competitions. i hope she gets well soon and returns better than ever
She would have been a good asset but I think this hurts her more than the team. They have a huge field of talent who can show up cleaner and with their well trained upgrades.
Update : It was reported that she suffered an Achillee injury.
