Something that popped into my head while watching this, was that maybe the "find the flower" message at the beginning of the Chapter could expand beyond just the literal flower drawing on the poppy door, as all of the smiling critters are themed around flowers, the poppy doll is sceneted like a poppy flower. and it seems like theres more symbolism behind the "flowers" in the factory we are yet to uncover!

The most confusing thing about 1006 is that most of the toys seem to be scared of him as well… Mommy, for instance, was yelling at us, “he’ll make me part of him,” which I think means that not all the toys willingly want to work with him and that they are afraid of him
Theory: 1. The prototype have many followers who could easily get them 2. They knew The prototype is insanely smart And 3 (my best guess) he know everything in the factory and he was hint to be able to talk to toy through spiritual so he probably was making then go crazy / fear him using it

That begs the question then: who sent the letter? If the Critters were trying to warn people to stay away from Poppy, then sending a letter to a former employee would be redundant. And we know it's not Poppy who sent it, after all she was trapped in her case. My best guess is that it might have been another employee who learned that the player managed to escape all those years ago, tracked us down and sent the letter as a last ditch attempt to end the nightmare.
I really should have expanded upon this part in the video but it slipped my mind. It could also have been orchestrated by 1006, using craftycorn to send the letter. We know he's a master manipulator, I wouldn't put it past him.

If Poppy has indeed been asleep, she couldn't have orchestrated sending the Letter. 1006 likely couldn't write it themselves due to how they've been constructed, so they probably got one of the other BBI PlayMates - a Child who can't spell perfectly, like Kraftycorn or Catnap - to do it. Personally, I'm guessing it'd be Catnap, due to their closeness with 1006...
Crazy theory but what if poppy did? The flower on the note matches the flower on the door when you enter the room and let poppy out. Poppy could’ve wrote the note before she was out in the cage. In the debug ending poppy says “terrible things have happened and I am the cause being able to exist as a doll has killed so many people” and she says “I know you’ve come to find the ones that disappeared all those years ago but their gone they’ve been gone for a long time”. What if other people came back saw the note and tried to find the “past workers” and died because of it and she was only put back in the cage and more people found the note? I mean it’s a crazy theory but it could be right

It makes sense that it would be toys that put those warnings up because they had enough time to do it without Huggy attacking them. Given how quickly he’s chasing you through the tunnels I can’t imagine escaping staff having the luxury of spending a lot of time to write all that stuff. Another possibility is that Poppy herself produces that poppy gas in low quantities, enough that people hanging around her become just a bit easier to handle, a bit less overly energetic, less rambunctious, you can see how people handling children might like that. However when she was locked in the case the gas built up around her. The thing about her having a long time to think doesn’t fit with her being asleep, if you’re sleeping you don’t have time to think.
@@davidaugustofc2574 She might not be capable of breaking the glass, as far as we’ve seen Poppy at best seems to have strength that’s proportional to her size. It also wouldn’t have gotten her anything. Remember that for whatever her objective is she needs you, and since the other toys seem to be against her she may have decided playing possum was the best move.

I theorized Kraftycorn would be a foil to Catnap, trying to warn us (the player) from coming into contact with Catnap. Which ties well with this theory that she warns us by writing her ‘artwork around the factory’. Even if it’s going to be inevitable
Another reason for the toys to be mad at poppy besides potentially being the main antagonist, is that she was the first toy that started everything. All the toys show a violence towards those they deem responsible for their predicament; the dinosaur was attacked by the other toys because he wasn’t a tortured child like them. I might be tying threads here, but referencing matpats recent timeline video, if Ludwig is the prototype and Ludwig had a special love and care for poppy (who may or may not be his adopted daughter), then maybe the prototype had poppy locked away and gassed by catnap due to some memory. Putting warnings may not be for us the player, but for the other toys living in the factory like laws of the land.
I think there has to be some sort of connection between Poppy and the red gas, especially since she's meant to smell "just like a poppy flower", and the Smiling Critters are the first scented toy's we've met since her introduction... I feel like there's a deeper connection here that I haven't seen anyone else talk about yet 🤔

It’s possible that CraftyCorn is the one who wrote the player the note about the “Find the Flower”. It would fit in as to why there are misspellings/grammatical errors as she (and the other Smiling Critters) seem quite childlike. Not to mention that it’s said she “understands the importance of … words on the page”
One point about the Crirters helping 1006 get around; they would have to be able to get around the factory in order for them to put the messages in chapter 1.
About poppy being asleep in the case another thing that points to that may be the room itself. It reminds me of how someone would decorate a young child’s bedroom, what with mobile above where the child sleeps and stuff
My theory is that if she is Stella, then the reason why the prototype is so reluctant to kill her is because he and the others can't. The reason? If she was one of the last people to be turned then she probably has some significant ability, possibly putting literal mental blocks and barriers on the other toys so they can't harm her outright, like dropping her to the ground, or tearing her apart or something. This could be the reason why they trapped her. If it's a situation where they want everyone who worked there dead or at least enslaved, in Mummy Long Legs case, Poppy be more than likely gotten everyone pissed off with the little ability at her disposal, especially if Poppy is proactive and is always up to something. And as far we know, we don't have a true sense of how durable she actually is. She could be almost indestructible. So they trapped her after realising this information, which why Mummy Long Legs trapped her in the web when she discovered she had escaped. The second possibility is that Stella was actually a decent person before, didn't originally know of the atrocities occurring under her nose, and got manipulated by the prototype. He probably used her influence and mobility to get things done. And was going to discard when finished, believing she was just as bad as everyone else that worked there. However, something could've gone horribly wrong. It could be that Stella got corrupted by the prototype with his manipulation and became cold but efficient, went mad when she got turned into a toy, or the woman morality worsened by the company own form manipulation when she got in too deep. Or all the above. Either way, she turned bad and probably hates everyone now. Prototype or at least someone of influence wants her not dead, maybe to control the player, maybe to give everyone in a factory a person to hate to prevent any further discord. But gonna wait and see if any of these come to light.
That's a very good theory about how Poppy could be evil the entire time. I just viewed Poppy as a girl who's smart enough that the company won't let the Player or HER just walk out of the building unscathed. I thought her plan would be that she needed the player to gather evidence they need to either blackmail or defeat the company in a legal battle so both her and the player can live without any fear of the company killing them or imprisoning them somewhere else. We don't know what her true plan is and I hope that if she's actually a good character but is just too cold and calculating to be genuinely friendly to be anyone. The idea that the whole thing is that the toys are against Poppy and worship the Prototype make me think that there's going to be an ultimate choice between both camps where you have to choose between Poppy's plans or the Prototype's plans in which either is: 1. Escape and expose the truth of the company to end the suffering once and for all. 2. Escape and leave the toys to their own devices, with nothing really changing other than the fact that you killed alot of them changing the Power Vaccuum the ones that you killed, except you may have to be on the run from the company that wants to make sure that no one knows their secrets.
the toys and experiments are the ones that suffered, don't forget that they were children and Poppy she already demonstrated in chapter 2 that she can't be trusted because at the end of the chapter Poppy deceives us and forces the player to go to the Playcare and to make matters worse we still don't know what her plan is the experiments are trying to kill the player for the simple reason that he shouldn't be there we know very well that the protagonist previously worked at the factory and we still don't know why he came back The experiments see him as a threat to rebuild the factory again, at least that's what I think because we still don't know if the player is evil or good, we haven't even heard him talking and Poppy and Mommy Long Legs can talk but why can't the protagonist speak?
I think that the rainbow crew and kissy missy are in charge of the children left alive which is why their faces remain as Happy as they are. Kissy opens the gate then immediately goes back to where she came, maybe thats an indicator that where she goes is somewhere she WANTS to go and get back to Huggy was regulated to security in the lobby, cut off from the kids only dealing with whoever walks in, so his face and teeth reflect his rabid state of mind Mommy long legs spent more time with the children but she too lost her contact with them and she went slowly insane. The red mist kept poppy docile and friendly but after it wore off she became her normal self, So wherever the rainbow crew and Missy are, there are kids and or they're all under the gas to keep them calm and working on whatever the Prototype needs them for
This is the best channel because you give us information about Poppy Playtime and with 10 minute videos which is perfect with theories that make sense and most channels only give us information but you give us theories too. Everyone can agree that Game Theory and Tericho Are the BEST!
The only part I’m unsure about is Poppy wanting us to take out the smiling critters. Mainly because while we’re riding the train at the end of Chapter 2, you can hear her get cut off during her speech and then the train starts speeding up out of control. Leading me to believe something (Likely 1006) caused all of this intentionally, leading us to the Playcare. And considering that’s the only reason we ended up there, it’s most likely not the destination that Poppy intended for us. Solid theory though anyways.
I think the Prototype is the daughter, while Poppy is Elliot. Prototype implies first, and it's also the roughest looking thing there, it's not actually a toy. Meanwhile the daughter would obviously be the first one resurrected once they got even the slightest hint that the procedure would work. The whole experiment was for her after all. Elliot meanwhile would have died and been resurrected later, after they got all the kinks out, and why not put him in his favorite toy, the very mascot of the company? that would explain why all the toys hate Poppy, but they only kept her locked away. They know she's responsible for everything, but they know baby girl 1006 will get mad if they touch her daddy
Oooooooh this was good. My giant question mark revolves around Poppy - I have had a feeling throughout both chapters that Poppy isn't *inherently* bad. I did theorize that regardless of the circumstances, Poppy could have lost herself in revenge and bitter feelings, but now I'm really questioning who ACTUALLY is the Prototype. I thought maybe Ludwig and him and Poppy trying to "set things right" but I don't know anymore. This was a really well thought out video, massive props for that. Also unrelated but thank you for making me feel less stupid over on Twitter for not noticing certain things lol, like how I noticed the bear was gone from the one video but didn't realize it was just a longer feed. This makes a LOT of sense. Not sure about the Critters hating Poppy, but I could see that being the case. Especially on the idea of "opposites" from chapter 2. Mommy was the evil big pink monster, Kissy seems to be the good one. And if Poppy is the true evil at the end, who's the good one to balance her out? Who's small as her? The Smiling Critters of course! Craftycorn's description also lists her as "a conscious observer" which could mean something. Like she's seen what's going around the factory and wants to keep us out with warnings, as if knowing she herself won't be able to last long with all the smaller toys being killed off in the factory. The only thing that would make this VERY definitive for me.... would be if one of those hanging toys isn't a Bron, Catbee or Boogie Bot.... but Craftycorn, caught just as she finished the last warning on the poppy door, killed and hung up with all the other toys as a warning. But the other scribbles being drawn by her and the other critters... I could see that being true since it's likely the critters are small plushies, and some of these warnings are written above our heads. Imagine them piled on top of one another so they can draw something at eye level for an adult like us to see clearly.
I'm not sure if Poppy is really the villain. I heard a theory once that there are multiple prototypes. It could be that one of them is the doctor himself, the man who started all the experiments in the first place. He could also be a different experiment, from what another person suggested to me. Now that I think about it, it's possible that he is literally inside Poppy, and the poppy gas is the only thing that stops him from controlling her. This could explain why Poppy changes her personality at the end of the chapter. It wasn't her, it was the doctor. I think he wants to start up the factory again, continue the experiments, and, if he's one of those scientists, raise an army to take over the world. Maybe that's why he didn't let us leave. He wants to make us get what he needs to continue his plans. The other experiments are trying to figure out how to remove him, but they don't seem to have any luck. I think they believe us to be helping him while knowing the truth. Maybe that's why they all attack us. But others like Kissy know that we're just a pawn. That's why she helps us. Maybe other helpful experiments will try to show us the truth so he can be stopped. Maybe that's why one of them called us back. Maybe it was the prototype himself. Mybe, he wants her to be freed from this control. This is just a theory, but I hope it gets more evidence in the future. I could've just figured out the plot.

Yeah. This theory was made just before Chapter 3 came out. I now see that this theory probably isn't true. However, it could still be possible for Harley Sawyer to be the true villain instead of the prototype. It's not my worst Poppy Playtime theory ever. I used to believe that we were playing as Marcus Brickley, the character jackscepticeye played. I now see how wrong that is. It was mainly because it seemed likely that while he saw PJ Pugapillar run down that hallway, it was Mommy Long Legs herself that grabbed the broom, and she saw his face when that happened. Now, I see two different possibilities for who we're playing as, both of which make sense. The first is the one character who's had a tape in e every chapter so far, Richard Avery. He could've been seen by all the experiments in the factory since he's been in all the locations so far. The other possibility is that we're playing as Stella Greybur, who we now know didn't truly know about the experiments. She is even more likely to be seen by all the experiments since she was a higher up employee. I don't want to get into all the details right now. My point is, not all theories are good.
I'm wondering if there is a theme here. The Smiling Critters seem to, so far, be the only other toys with scents other than Poppy. So then if they have unique descriptions of what they're able to do and what they're like then what would Poppy's be? What's her ability? Could she have all of their abilities combined? Does she have the power to turn people into toys? I'm really looking forward to unraveling all of these mysteries. And like others here, I too am curious about who really sent us that letter. At first I thought it might be the "Unknown" character from the Arg, but they're clearly more literate than whoever wrote the "Find the Poppy Flower" message? And why was it so important that we, one of the staff, came back? Did someone want to finish us off? Were they afraid we'd continue the cycle of turning people into horrific toy abominations? I don't have a lot of evidence to back it up, but currently my theory is that we, the player, might actually be Harley Sawyer. But who really knows?
With the new game coming out, one of her cutout voicelines asks for more red. (The same color of the poppy flower painted on the papers and wall) Unsure if this is connected in some way but it seems like it.

Even though this is a solid theory you forgot one very important possibility and that's the fact that Elliot could lock Poppy away instead of killing her because she could be unkillable. Don't forget we don't know Poppy that well yet, the only thing we know it's about Poppy doll's existance.
I have a different theory: when she gave them the crayons to make the words in the vents when the "I'm so hungry" thing popped in the were still trying to warn us. Cause as soon as we see the flower thing it has the warning "GO BACK" with the robot hanging but the robot didn't do anything at lease that's what we think... cause if the robot didn't do anything why would they die? The robot has something to do with this... The robot was helping the critters cause they wanted to be noticed again. So then after the robot helped them they betray them and destroyed him. That's when catnap comes in he's a cat right? Cats have claws and so does catnap. He could of slashed him to a scratch. BUT craftycorn is also the one who put poppy in the case and had the gas mask to cover up when catnap uses his breath. So crafty got help from the robot and critters to make the flower!
There is one problem about this. You said that the smiling critters placed poppy in the case. But poppy confirmed it was mommy who did that. Were they then working together then?
I don't know if it might happen. Or probably fan fiction incase. It would be very nice if Kraftycorn would be a good ally. It would be interesting to let Kraftycorn or probably one of the smiling critters except catnap due to being the main villain in chapter 3. Taking them outside to the real world. This sounds very unlikely but, it would be very interesting to me seeing it happened. P.S.: Unless somebody is doing a friendly version of smiling critters animations. Which could be... strange I guess?
So, my theory is poppy is the lead scientist behind all of the dolls being made and why they're scared of her is due to the fact that they realized that she was, and now that she's been shoved into a doll herself, she's trying to undo everything she's done including killing the experiment which i'm betting is either her own kid, her husband, someone close to her, or someone she's pissed at back when she was a human. Seeing you back at the place again, she latches onto you to help her destroy and hide all of the evidence of everything she and the organization did, including herself, and inevitably you too.

If Craftycorn really did make the warnings and especially the giant poppy flower, then that makes even more sense why in the now revealed cutout voice clips, she's asking for red, and went nuts when she realized there was more red that she needed within bodies. She needed a TON of red to make the giant red poppy flower.
Part of it doesn’t make sense maybe dog day was just against it because dog day says that you are poppies angel,, trying to save place that part doesn’t make sense that some of the smiling creatures wrote it, but I don’t think Poppy was the main threat before but now she is in the reason I think that is that she’s a threat because she wants to kill the prototype. Most of them worship the prototype towards the beginning, and when they started stopping worshiping the prototype, the they were killed by cat nap and they locked poppy way because she was a threat to the prototype
It's also possible that Poppy knows something that the Prototype doesn't, hence not killing her when she refused to submit unlike other toys. CatNap worships the Prototype as a God and Poppy said in game that the Prototype is the one that locked her away, so CatNap helping to gas her isn't far fetched. Poppy having something important to the Prototype would also explain why releasing her would be dangerous and why getting rid of Kissy after ignoring her for so long was the first thing that happened after you & Poppy separated from Kissy. Alongside stopping you from turning back to escape, Poppy is now desperate to make a change that she didn't before. What's more dangerous than releasing someone important to a crazed murder toy? The Prototype has been shown to be very calculating, they're always there at the exact moment you defeat a boss meaning they've been watching you since the start, but that also means that they could get you at any moment and choose not to. They may be hoping that letting you work with Poppy will get them what they want in a convoluted way. Poppy was seemingly treated as a 'perfect' product, meaning she might have been allowed to see/hear things that other toys couldn't making he important.
I'll reiterate my point that Poppy may actually be just a child like the other Critters used to be but one who is disturbingly manipulative or just 'different'. She could certainly be Elliot's revived daughter who came back changed after her experiences being either warped or inhabited by something from the other side and would have manipulated first Elliot/1006 and then the rest of the staff into fast tracking the toy conversion experiments. But when she had finished running the adults out of the picture she was left with other converted kids and the Critters quickly saw through her and put her down by the method they knew best. They locked her away because as children they could not conceive of actually destroying her or maybe they thought that she would settle down just by taking a long nap because their own bodies work that way. Besides 'getting her back on the others' is a very childlike motivation, don't you think?
When you mentioned that CrafyHorns likes to paint and could be the one who made the signs, along with her other friends. It was mentioned that she likes to share, however, in her cardboard cutout... It's a completely different story. Each of the cardboard cutouts of the gang gives us some hints on how each of them died. I believe that her cardboard cutout shows that she might be obsessed with the color red. I think when one of the critters were sharing crayons or markers with her, she snapped thinking that they were hiding it from her. In her violent outrage, she killed one of her friends and use their blood to write and draw instead. It might even be the poppy flower drawing/painting on the door that was one of the critters blood. I'll probably be making updated in this comment if my opinion or anything changes. But for now, if I missed anything or something else, feel free to comment!
I've had the idea back with they released the trailer teasing catnap that it seems that there is some sort of civil war among the toy or at least a struggle among them. Some that is fighting the goal of playtime and others that are for it. How poppy was displayed reminded me of someone displaying a trophy they won and the toys outside of where poppy was kept was a warning to those trying to free her. I wonder if the remaining toys are divided. When we were getting close to poppy or when we freed her was when huggy and mommy long legs attacked us and there have been multiple instances where the prototype appeared to be on our side
All the poppy flowers are drawn differently throughout the games, it's possible that all the critters made the poppy drawings and one of them created the letter after talking to Poppy before she was locked away. I don't think Poppy could write the note herself though, she's not a younger child who would misspell things. I think the note was actually sent by PiggyWiggy (due to their voice clips in the cutout they were the last one alive other than CatNap). If you look at the colours of the text on the vent walls, then look at the "scents" associated with the critters you can tell who wrote what, blue is Bubbaphant, cyan is Craftycorn and red is PiggyWiggy. I also noticed something interesting as well from chapter 1 to chapter 3 IIRC the door we enter through on the factory side when we finally get to Poppy, the hallways are the exact same ones as found in the home sweet home. So it would track that CatNap had her locked in the case, just like he locked away the other Critters and toys, since he either couldn't leave playcare or didn't want to leave. The red smoke so far has only been distributed by CatNap. Maybe Poppy is the head of Playcare, or was.
People are saying in the comments that mommy long legs was the one who put her in the box, not the smiling critters. But I think it was both of them, let me explain. As pointed out in the video, there was poppy gas in her case, that means catnap was there to poppy to sleep. I think that once mommy put poppy in the case, she told one of the smiling critters(rather catnap in general) to put poppy asleep to ensure that she couldn't escape on her own.
maybe 1006,catnap and the smiling critters all realize that poppy is evil and all worked together to stop her from stopping them . id even go as far to say that they placed huggy as a body guard up there to prevent anyone from releasing her. on another note, could that big structure made out of toys be the body 1006 is constructing with the help of the critters

This may seem stupid but i wonder if Stella tranfered herself into poppy and left the Ludwig daughter in stasis after his death and transferance into the prototype and the strang amalgamation of toys to reraise his daughter.
Very interesting thoughts Tericho. There are several burning questions layed out for us. Do you think Playtime Co. studied personalites since they tested cognitive functions? Craftycorn is definitely an "ISFP." Being that Playtime Co. studied psychology, they'd likely know about the most popular personality test. They probably assigned each critter a child to become the living embodiment. In Craftycorn's case - an ISFP (Adventurer/Artisan).
With chapter 3 out now, it was revealed by poppy that the prototype was the one who locked her there. He possibly had the help of catnap with the gas, considering the fact that is was said that catnap worships the prototype.
knowing that catnap killed the other critters does throw off the section about poppy wanting them dead and all the critters working with 1006, but everything else is pretty solid.
this would explain why dogday calls us "poppy's angel" as well as why in the "sleep well" music video we see the mini-critters beside poppy's cage, but why would dogday say that the other critters tried to "fight the prototype's control"? also he doesn't say that the others are dead, he only says that he's the last one, wich could mean that they died, but could also mean that they split and there might still be some of them alive. Another problem with this is Kissy, in the music video (as well as the tape poppy shows at the end of the chapter) we see that she was working with the prototype during the hour of joy, but now she's on poppy's side (at least was, we don't know if she's dead)
I definitely agree about Poppy being some evil mastermind. But why did dogday get attacked by catnap if they were working together? it seemed like dogday was not worried about Poppy but he was worried about Catnap. The prototype wanted everyone dead even the smiling creatures and sent catnap to do so. Also in that tape where Catnap attacks everyone, why would he kill the kids too if he was one before (IDK if he killed kids too but in the kid's dorm there was blood and destruction)? There is so much mystery.
A few things I've noticed, as well as heard from others, is that the flower Poppy keeps referring to might be Craftycorn. I say this for a few reasons, and while the biggest is with the nature of Craftycorn's personality, there are some other linking factors I see. We are told she is observant and more cautious, which means she should be straying from the murderous path most other toys have taken. Matpat referred back to the drawings with crayons in the vent of chapter one, and I think the colors of them are linked to each of the corresponding critters. This could give us an idea of the sides they will take, but we do know the colors are red, green, both blues, and pink. Noticing one thing from me, is the absense of orange and purple. If they truly do correspond to the critters, catnap and dog days are not against people finding poppy or whatever. Plus the red writing corresponding to piggy's contribution at 5:48 might not be it since the text in the gameplay trailer says the children all grown hungry. This does make the letter itself more confusing to me though, maybe some of the critters are spies?
That also kind of explains why the Prototype didn't immediately kill the main character. The prototype is pretty capable of killing us, and even killed previous staffs just like the one that was locked with it when the Prototype used its lazer pointer. And the theory that 1006 IS Elliot is honestly making a little bit more sense now
And tbh I think it’s crafty corn who drew and wrote the messages we saw in chapter 1 because if you pay attention to one of her voicelines in chapter 3 she says she wants red and the door of the room where poppy is in also has red paintings on it so…
I have a theory to add on to this, poppy says the prototype put her in there what if the smiley critters found poppy and think she was locked up there for a reason because they saw cat naps gas In there with her so they think catnap had a reason to put her in there so they got scared of her
Theory: So there's scents for each character and these are probably scents they release from the holes in their mouth like peppermint but Catnap's scent lavender is unaligned and instead of releasing lavender, Catnap releases the red gas and puts his friends and children to sleep so they can be well-rested.
The smiling critters are a friend group ( catnap killed all of them except dog day who was tortured and ripped in half and slowly eaten by catnaps little minions)
The one thing that always struck me as absolutely terrifying. In Poppy's commercial she says "I'm a real girl, just like you." Is her end goal to turn into a real girl? Sort of like a Pinocchio horror story

I have another reason for this, in the cardboard stand voice cutout thingy (idk what to call it) KraftyCorn said that she needed more red paint, the color of the poppy flower, which explains that she drew the poppy flower in chapter 1

Implying that mommy had put her in there. (Plus, the revenge part would be BECAUSE mommy had put her in the case. which is why she said: "Did you kill her? Good. board the train, we need to leave.") And I get referencing the next chapter but I don''t think she was referencing any of the smiling critters Spoilers from chapter 3 ahead , plus, catnap isn't the ONLY one with the gas. That's a mistake I see a lot of people make. We even see a factory with the poppy gas in chapter 3! It appears that catnap was GIVEN The poppy gas, not created it. Also.. I get that this was probably before the "Hour of joy", and the factory would be easier to navigate, but how would Craftycorn get ALL THE WAY From a Pretty deep part of the factory to a place that's technically on the FIRST floor? In a VHS (I think its a VHS) We learned that the Smiling critters by the bigger body's company thing Were meant to stay INSIDE of Playcare. (In the VHS with catnap, we learn this from the quote: "the prototype's home is in the lab (or something along the lines of that) Your home is HERE.") Anyway. I think that somebody ELSE had put the poppy gas inside of Poppy's case. I agree that there was gas in there. Because we didn't just GO to sleep. we went into REM sleep (i'm pretty sure. most people call it the "Knockout" term.) Which just PROVES the power of this gas.

Craftycorn’s cardboard cutout keeps continuously asking for red paint… If all the smiling critters were helping her, when they ran out of red she may have attacked one of the critters and used their blood… But why do they need so much red? Interesting theory. But, if Critters saw Poppy as a threat why don’t just kill her? They had more than enough power for that. That also includes Huggy and Mommy. Why didn’t they kill Poppy? Prototype has plans for Poppy? Or maybe Poppy and Prototype actually work together? Also Critters weren’t friends with CatNap long before The Hour of Joy. I guess all of them draw warnings on walls not to go further, because of bigger toys(like Mommy, Prototype and others). Also fun detail, CraftyCorn saying on her board “more red please” and giant poppy flower has a lot of red. Or maybe I’m wrong. I’m pretty sure we already solve it, because we went into the flower at the end in chapter 1, “find the flower”. Was what we did we found poppy, as you know poppy is a flower and that’s who we found.
my theory is that poppy sent the letter to the player and then the toys went against each other and poppy knew she can't keep up with prototype's control so she seeked help from the player and then maybe someone from the smiling critters locked her in the case then came crafty corn and sabotaged the poppy painting to scare the player or any one who would come to investigate in the end it's a theory
this theory is cool, but with the recent coming out of chapter 3 we can say that it might've not been the smilling critters to lock away poppy but rather catnap and 1006 due to the fact the rest of the smiling critters were said to revolt against catnap and 1006, this being said by dog day before he got eaten and possesed so they mightve even tried helping poppy, as dog day refers to us as "poppy's angel", i still believe we may be tricked by poppy but her includment with kissy missy makes me believe she isn't the main antagonist

This also explains why we fall asleep. If CatNap’s gas was really in Poppy’s case, that very clearly explains why we immediately went to sleep after chapter 1

Something that popped into my head while watching this, was that maybe the "find the flower" message at the beginning of the Chapter could expand beyond just the literal flower drawing on the poppy door, as all of the smiling critters are themed around flowers, the poppy doll is sceneted like a poppy flower. and it seems like theres more symbolism behind the "flowers" in the factory we are yet to uncover!

The most confusing thing about 1006 is that most of the toys seem to be scared of him as well… Mommy, for instance, was yelling at us, “he’ll make me part of him,” which I think means that not all the toys willingly want to work with him and that they are afraid of him
Theory:
1. The prototype have many followers who could easily get them
2. They knew The prototype is insanely smart
And 3 (my best guess) he know everything in the factory and he was hint to be able to talk to toy through spiritual so he probably was making then go crazy / fear him using it

That begs the question then: who sent the letter? If the Critters were trying to warn people to stay away from Poppy, then sending a letter to a former employee would be redundant. And we know it's not Poppy who sent it, after all she was trapped in her case. My best guess is that it might have been another employee who learned that the player managed to escape all those years ago, tracked us down and sent the letter as a last ditch attempt to end the nightmare.
I really should have expanded upon this part in the video but it slipped my mind. It could also have been orchestrated by 1006, using craftycorn to send the letter. We know he's a master manipulator, I wouldn't put it past him.

If Poppy has indeed been asleep, she couldn't have orchestrated sending the Letter. 1006 likely couldn't write it themselves due to how they've been constructed, so they probably got one of the other BBI PlayMates - a Child who can't spell perfectly, like Kraftycorn or Catnap - to do it. Personally, I'm guessing it'd be Catnap, due to their closeness with 1006...
Crazy theory but what if poppy did? The flower on the note matches the flower on the door when you enter the room and let poppy out. Poppy could’ve wrote the note before she was out in the cage. In the debug ending poppy says “terrible things have happened and I am the cause being able to exist as a doll has killed so many people” and she says “I know you’ve come to find the ones that disappeared all those years ago but their gone they’ve been gone for a long time”. What if other people came back saw the note and tried to find the “past workers” and died because of it and she was only put back in the cage and more people found the note? I mean it’s a crazy theory but it could be right

It makes sense that it would be toys that put those warnings up because they had enough time to do it without Huggy attacking them. Given how quickly he’s chasing you through the tunnels I can’t imagine escaping staff having the luxury of spending a lot of time to write all that stuff.
Another possibility is that Poppy herself produces that poppy gas in low quantities, enough that people hanging around her become just a bit easier to handle, a bit less overly energetic, less rambunctious, you can see how people handling children might like that. However when she was locked in the case the gas built up around her. The thing about her having a long time to think doesn’t fit with her being asleep, if you’re sleeping you don’t have time to think.

It also wouldn’t have gotten her anything. Remember that for whatever her objective is she needs you, and since the other toys seem to be against her she may have decided playing possum was the best move.

I theorized Kraftycorn would be a foil to Catnap, trying to warn us (the player) from coming into contact with Catnap. Which ties well with this theory that she warns us by writing her ‘artwork around the factory’. Even if it’s going to be inevitable

Another reason for the toys to be mad at poppy besides potentially being the main antagonist, is that she was the first toy that started everything. All the toys show a violence towards those they deem responsible for their predicament; the dinosaur was attacked by the other toys because he wasn’t a tortured child like them.
I might be tying threads here, but referencing matpats recent timeline video, if Ludwig is the prototype and Ludwig had a special love and care for poppy (who may or may not be his adopted daughter), then maybe the prototype had poppy locked away and gassed by catnap due to some memory. Putting warnings may not be for us the player, but for the other toys living in the factory like laws of the land.
But Experiment 1006 is the first that preceded Poppy Playtime.
I think there has to be some sort of connection between Poppy and the red gas, especially since she's meant to smell "just like a poppy flower", and the Smiling Critters are the first scented toy's we've met since her introduction... I feel like there's a deeper connection here that I haven't seen anyone else talk about yet 🤔

It’s possible that CraftyCorn is the one who wrote the player the note about the “Find the Flower”. It would fit in as to why there are misspellings/grammatical errors as she (and the other Smiling Critters) seem quite childlike. Not to mention that it’s said she “understands the importance of … words on the page”
One point about the Crirters helping 1006 get around; they would have to be able to get around the factory in order for them to put the messages in chapter 1.
About poppy being asleep in the case another thing that points to that may be the room itself. It reminds me of how someone would decorate a young child’s bedroom, what with mobile above where the child sleeps and stuff
My theory is that if she is Stella, then the reason why the prototype is so reluctant to kill her is because he and the others can't. The reason? If she was one of the last people to be turned then she probably has some significant ability, possibly putting literal mental blocks and barriers on the other toys so they can't harm her outright, like dropping her to the ground, or tearing her apart or something. This could be the reason why they trapped her. If it's a situation where they want everyone who worked there dead or at least enslaved, in Mummy Long Legs case, Poppy be more than likely gotten everyone pissed off with the little ability at her disposal, especially if Poppy is proactive and is always up to something. And as far we know, we don't have a true sense of how durable she actually is. She could be almost indestructible. So they trapped her after realising this information, which why Mummy Long Legs trapped her in the web when she discovered she had escaped.
The second possibility is that Stella was actually a decent person before, didn't originally know of the atrocities occurring under her nose, and got manipulated by the prototype. He probably used her influence and mobility to get things done. And was going to discard when finished, believing she was just as bad as everyone else that worked there. However, something could've gone horribly wrong. It could be that Stella got corrupted by the prototype with his manipulation and became cold but efficient, went mad when she got turned into a toy, or the woman morality worsened by the company own form manipulation when she got in too deep. Or all the above. Either way, she turned bad and probably hates everyone now. Prototype or at least someone of influence wants her not dead, maybe to control the player, maybe to give everyone in a factory a person to hate to prevent any further discord. But gonna wait and see if any of these come to light.
That's a very good theory about how Poppy could be evil the entire time. I just viewed Poppy as a girl who's smart enough that the company won't let the Player or HER just walk out of the building unscathed.
I thought her plan would be that she needed the player to gather evidence they need to either blackmail or defeat the company in a legal battle so both her and the player can live without any fear of the company killing them or imprisoning them somewhere else. We don't know what her true plan is and I hope that if she's actually a good character but is just too cold and calculating to be genuinely friendly to be anyone.
The idea that the whole thing is that the toys are against Poppy and worship the Prototype make me think that there's going to be an ultimate choice between both camps where you have to choose between Poppy's plans or the Prototype's plans in which either is:
1. Escape and expose the truth of the company to end the suffering once and for all.
2. Escape and leave the toys to their own devices, with nothing really changing other than the fact that you killed alot of them changing the Power Vaccuum the ones that you killed, except you may have to be on the run from the company that wants to make sure that no one knows their secrets.
the toys and experiments are the ones that suffered, don't forget that they were children and Poppy she already demonstrated in chapter 2 that she can't be trusted because at the end of the chapter Poppy deceives us and forces the player to go to the Playcare and to make matters worse we still don't know what her plan is the experiments are trying to kill the player for the simple reason that he shouldn't be there we know very well that the protagonist previously worked at the factory and we still don't know why he came back The experiments see him as a threat to rebuild the factory again, at least that's what I think because we still don't know if the player is evil or good, we haven't even heard him talking and Poppy and Mommy Long Legs can talk but why can't the protagonist speak?
Amazing theory! I also thought similar to you. The poppy gas knocking us out at the end of chapter 1 was def my explanation of why we woke up later.
I think that the rainbow crew and kissy missy are in charge of the children left alive which is why their faces remain as Happy as they are. Kissy opens the gate then immediately goes back to where she came, maybe thats an indicator that where she goes is somewhere she WANTS to go and get back to

The only part I’m unsure about is Poppy wanting us to take out the smiling critters. Mainly because while we’re riding the train at the end of Chapter 2, you can hear her get cut off during her speech and then the train starts speeding up out of control. Leading me to believe something (Likely 1006) caused all of this intentionally, leading us to the Playcare. And considering that’s the only reason we ended up there, it’s most likely not the destination that Poppy intended for us.

I think the Prototype is the daughter, while Poppy is Elliot. Prototype implies first, and it's also the roughest looking thing there, it's not actually a toy. Meanwhile the daughter would obviously be the first one resurrected once they got even the slightest hint that the procedure would work. The whole experiment was for her after all. Elliot meanwhile would have died and been resurrected later, after they got all the kinks out, and why not put him in his favorite toy, the very mascot of the company? that would explain why all the toys hate Poppy, but they only kept her locked away. They know she's responsible for everything, but they know baby girl 1006 will get mad if they touch her daddy

Oooooooh this was good. My giant question mark revolves around Poppy - I have had a feeling throughout both chapters that Poppy isn't *inherently* bad. I did theorize that regardless of the circumstances, Poppy could have lost herself in revenge and bitter feelings, but now I'm really questioning who ACTUALLY is the Prototype. I thought maybe Ludwig and him and Poppy trying to "set things right" but I don't know anymore. This was a really well thought out video, massive props for that.

This makes a LOT of sense. Not sure about the Critters hating Poppy, but I could see that being the case. Especially on the idea of "opposites" from chapter 2.
Mommy was the evil big pink monster, Kissy seems to be the good one. And if Poppy is the true evil at the end, who's the good one to balance her out? Who's small as her? The Smiling Critters of course!
Craftycorn's description also lists her as "a conscious observer" which could mean something. Like she's seen what's going around the factory and wants to keep us out with warnings, as if knowing she herself won't be able to last long with all the smaller toys being killed off in the factory.
The only thing that would make this VERY definitive for me.... would be if one of those hanging toys isn't a Bron, Catbee or Boogie Bot.... but Craftycorn, caught just as she finished the last warning on the poppy door, killed and hung up with all the other toys as a warning.
But the other scribbles being drawn by her and the other critters... I could see that being true since it's likely the critters are small plushies, and some of these warnings are written above our heads. Imagine them piled on top of one another so they can draw something at eye level for an adult like us to see clearly.
I'm not sure if Poppy is really the villain. I heard a theory once that there are multiple prototypes. It could be that one of them is the doctor himself, the man who started all the experiments in the first place. He could also be a different experiment, from what another person suggested to me. Now that I think about it, it's possible that he is literally inside Poppy, and the poppy gas is the only thing that stops him from controlling her. This could explain why Poppy changes her personality at the end of the chapter. It wasn't her, it was the doctor. I think he wants to start up the factory again, continue the experiments, and, if he's one of those scientists, raise an army to take over the world. Maybe that's why he didn't let us leave. He wants to make us get what he needs to continue his plans. The other experiments are trying to figure out how to remove him, but they don't seem to have any luck. I think they believe us to be helping him while knowing the truth. Maybe that's why they all attack us. But others like Kissy know that we're just a pawn. That's why she helps us. Maybe other helpful experiments will try to show us the truth so he can be stopped. Maybe that's why one of them called us back. Maybe it was the prototype himself. Mybe, he wants her to be freed from this control. This is just a theory, but I hope it gets more evidence in the future. I could've just figured out the plot.

Yeah. This theory was made just before Chapter 3 came out. I now see that this theory probably isn't true. However, it could still be possible for Harley Sawyer to be the true villain instead of the prototype. It's not my worst Poppy Playtime theory ever. I used to believe that we were playing as Marcus Brickley, the character jackscepticeye played. I now see how wrong that is. It was mainly because it seemed likely that while he saw PJ Pugapillar run down that hallway, it was Mommy Long Legs herself that grabbed the broom, and she saw his face when that happened. Now, I see two different possibilities for who we're playing as, both of which make sense. The first is the one character who's had a tape in e every chapter so far, Richard Avery. He could've been
seen by all the experiments in the factory since he's been in all the locations so far. The other possibility is that we're playing as Stella Greybur, who we now know didn't truly know about the experiments. She is even more likely to be seen by all the experiments since she was a higher up employee. I don't want to get into all the details right now. My point is, not all theories are good.
I'm wondering if there is a theme here. The Smiling Critters seem to, so far, be the only other toys with scents other than Poppy. So then if they have unique descriptions of what they're able to do and what they're like then what would Poppy's be? What's her ability? Could she have all of their abilities combined? Does she have the power to turn people into toys? I'm really looking forward to unraveling all of these mysteries. And like others here, I too am curious about who really sent us that letter. At first I thought it might be the "Unknown" character from the Arg, but they're clearly more literate than whoever wrote the "Find the Poppy Flower" message? And why was it so important that we, one of the staff, came back? Did someone want to finish us off? Were they afraid we'd continue the cycle of turning people into horrific toy abominations? I don't have a lot of evidence to back it up, but currently my theory is that we, the player, might actually be Harley Sawyer. But who really knows?
With the new game coming out, one of her cutout voicelines asks for more red. (The same color of the poppy flower painted on the papers and wall) Unsure if this is connected in some way but it seems like it.

Even though this is a solid theory you forgot one very important possibility and that's the fact that Elliot could lock Poppy away instead of killing her because she could be unkillable. Don't forget we don't know Poppy that well yet, the only thing we know it's about Poppy doll's existance.
I have a different theory: when she gave them the crayons to make the words in the vents when the "I'm so hungry" thing popped in the were still trying to warn us. Cause as soon as we see the flower thing it has the warning "GO BACK" with the robot hanging but the robot didn't do anything at lease that's what we think... cause if the robot didn't do anything why would they die? The robot has something to do with this... The robot was helping the critters cause they wanted to be noticed again. So then after the robot helped them they betray them and destroyed him. That's when catnap comes in he's a cat right? Cats have claws and so does catnap. He could of slashed him to a scratch. BUT craftycorn is also the one who put poppy in the case and had the gas mask to cover up when catnap uses his breath. So crafty got help from the robot and critters to make the flower!

I don't know if it might happen. Or probably fan fiction incase. It would be very nice if Kraftycorn would be a good ally. It would be interesting to let Kraftycorn or probably one of the smiling critters except catnap due to being the main villain in chapter 3. Taking them outside to the real world. This sounds very unlikely but, it would be very interesting to me seeing it happened. P.S.: Unless somebody is doing a friendly version of smiling critters animations. Which could be... strange I guess?

I just noticed that part from Leith's statement on Catnap and The Prototype.
So, my theory is poppy is the lead scientist behind all of the dolls being made and why they're scared of her is due to the fact that they realized that she was, and now that she's been shoved into a doll herself, she's trying to undo everything she's done including killing the experiment which i'm betting is either her own kid, her husband, someone close to her, or someone she's pissed at back when she was a human. Seeing you back at the place again, she latches onto you to help her destroy and hide all of the evidence of everything she and the organization did, including herself, and inevitably you too.
It’s confirmed that catnap is Theodore grambell and is working with the prototype also watch MatPat’s newest variant Poppy playtime. It’s very informative.
If Craftycorn really did make the warnings and especially the giant poppy flower, then that makes even more sense why in the now revealed cutout voice clips, she's asking for red, and went nuts when she realized there was more red that she needed within bodies. She needed a TON of red to make the giant red poppy flower.
Part of it doesn’t make sense maybe dog day was just against it because dog day says that you are poppies angel,, trying to save place that part doesn’t make sense that some of the smiling creatures wrote it, but I don’t think Poppy was the main threat before but now she is in the reason I think that is that she’s a threat because she wants to kill the prototype. Most of them worship the prototype towards the beginning, and when they started stopping worshiping the prototype, the they were killed by cat nap and they locked poppy way because she was a threat to the prototype
It's also possible that Poppy knows something that the Prototype doesn't, hence not killing her when she refused to submit unlike other toys. CatNap worships the Prototype as a God and Poppy said in game that the Prototype is the one that locked her away, so CatNap helping to gas her isn't far fetched. Poppy having something important to the Prototype would also explain why releasing her would be dangerous and why getting rid of Kissy after ignoring her for so long was the first thing that happened after you & Poppy separated from Kissy. Alongside stopping you from turning back to escape, Poppy is now desperate to make a change that she didn't before.
What's more dangerous than releasing someone important to a crazed murder toy?
The Prototype has been shown to be very calculating, they're always there at the exact moment you defeat a boss meaning they've been watching you since the start, but that also means that they could get you at any moment and choose not to. They may be hoping that letting you work with Poppy will get them what they want in a convoluted way. Poppy was seemingly treated as a 'perfect' product, meaning she might have been allowed to see/hear things that other toys couldn't making he important.
I'll reiterate my point that Poppy may actually be just a child like the other Critters used to be but one who is disturbingly manipulative or just 'different'. She could certainly be Elliot's revived daughter who came back changed after her experiences being either warped or inhabited by something from the other side and would have manipulated first Elliot/1006 and then the rest of the staff into fast tracking the toy conversion experiments.
But when she had finished running the adults out of the picture she was left with other converted kids and the Critters quickly saw through her and put her down by the method they knew best. They locked her away because as children they could not conceive of actually destroying her or maybe they thought that she would settle down just by taking a long nap because their own bodies work that way.
Besides 'getting her back on the others' is a very childlike motivation, don't you think?

When you mentioned that CrafyHorns likes to paint and could be the one who made the signs, along with her other friends. It was mentioned that she likes to share, however, in her cardboard cutout... It's a completely different story.
Each of the cardboard cutouts of the gang gives us some hints on how each of them died. I believe that her cardboard cutout shows that she might be obsessed with the color red. I think when one of the critters were sharing crayons or markers with her, she snapped thinking that they were hiding it from her. In her violent outrage, she killed one of her friends and use their blood to write and draw instead. It might even be the poppy flower drawing/painting on the door that was one of the critters blood.

I've had the idea back with they released the trailer teasing catnap that it seems that there is some sort of civil war among the toy or at least a struggle among them. Some that is fighting the goal of playtime and others that are for it. How poppy was displayed reminded me of someone displaying a trophy they won and the toys outside of where poppy was kept was a warning to those trying to free her. I wonder if the remaining toys are divided. When we were getting close to poppy or when we freed her was when huggy and mommy long legs attacked us and there have been multiple instances where the prototype appeared to be on our side
All the poppy flowers are drawn differently throughout the games, it's possible that all the critters made the poppy drawings and one of them created the letter after talking to Poppy before she was locked away. I don't think Poppy could write the note herself though, she's not a younger child who would misspell things. I think the note was actually sent by PiggyWiggy (due to their voice clips in the cutout they were the last one alive other than CatNap). If you look at the colours of the text on the vent walls, then look at the "scents" associated with the critters you can tell who wrote what, blue is Bubbaphant, cyan is Craftycorn and red is PiggyWiggy. I also noticed something interesting as well from chapter 1 to chapter 3 IIRC the door we enter through on the factory side when we finally get to Poppy, the hallways are the exact same ones as found in the home sweet home. So it would track that CatNap had her locked in the case, just like he locked away the other Critters and toys, since he either couldn't leave playcare or didn't want to leave. The red smoke so far has only been distributed by CatNap. Maybe Poppy is the head of Playcare, or was.
im not too much into theories but considering Catnap and Dogday are the only ones that have names that start with there species seems a bit odd to me
But honestly I thought poppy would be immune from it seeing she was basically made with it as well
People are saying in the comments that mommy long legs was the one who put her in the box, not the smiling critters. But I think it was both of them, let me explain. As pointed out in the video, there was poppy gas in her case, that means catnap was there to poppy to sleep. I think that once mommy put poppy in the case, she told one of the smiling critters(rather catnap in general) to put poppy asleep to ensure that she couldn't escape on her own.
maybe we have to use the individual smells of the toys as some sort of mechanic to the game
maybe 1006,catnap and the smiling critters all realize that poppy is evil and all worked together to stop her from stopping them . id even go as far to say that they placed huggy as a body guard up there to prevent anyone from releasing her. on another note, could that big structure made out of toys be the body 1006 is constructing with the help of the critters

Craftycorn is definitely an "ISFP." Being that Playtime Co. studied psychology, they'd likely know about the most popular personality test. They probably assigned each critter a child to become the living embodiment. In Craftycorn's case - an ISFP (Adventurer/Artisan).
This furthermore proves my theory that the big creature in the trailer is all the critters combined into a massive thing.
With chapter 3 out now, it was revealed by poppy that the prototype was the one who locked her there. He possibly had the help of catnap with the gas, considering the fact that is was said that catnap worships the prototype.
I feel like this guy is overthinking things but it's Soo good that I can't even complain.

this would explain why dogday calls us "poppy's angel" as well as why in the "sleep well" music video we see the mini-critters beside poppy's cage, but why would dogday say that the other critters tried to "fight the prototype's control"? also he doesn't say that the others are dead, he only says that he's the last one, wich could mean that they died, but could also mean that they split and there might still be some of them alive.
Another problem with this is Kissy, in the music video (as well as the tape poppy shows at the end of the chapter) we see that she was working with the prototype during the hour of joy, but now she's on poppy's side (at least was, we don't know if she's dead)
I definitely agree about Poppy being some evil mastermind. But why did dogday get attacked by catnap if they were working together? it seemed like dogday was not worried about Poppy but he was worried about Catnap. The prototype wanted everyone dead even the smiling creatures and sent catnap to do so. Also in that tape where Catnap attacks everyone, why would he kill the kids too if he was one before
(IDK if he killed kids too but in the kid's dorm there was blood and destruction)? There is so much mystery.
Oh my gosh! I love this theory. It's solid and well thought out, I really hope its true! So excited for Chapter 3!! 😁
A few things I've noticed, as well as heard from others, is that the flower Poppy keeps referring to might be Craftycorn. I say this for a few reasons, and while the biggest is with the nature of Craftycorn's personality, there are some other linking factors I see. We are told she is observant and more cautious, which means she should be straying from the murderous path most other toys have taken. Matpat referred back to the drawings with crayons in the vent of chapter one, and I think the colors of them are linked to each of the corresponding critters. This could give us an idea of the sides they will take, but we do know the colors are red, green, both blues, and pink. Noticing one thing from me, is the absense of orange and purple. If they truly do correspond to the critters, catnap and dog days are not against people finding poppy or whatever. Plus the red writing corresponding to piggy's contribution at 5:48 might not be it since the text in the gameplay trailer says the children all grown hungry. This does make the letter itself more confusing to me though, maybe some of the critters are spies?
That also kind of explains why the Prototype didn't immediately kill the main character. The prototype is pretty capable of killing us, and even killed previous staffs just like the one that was locked with it when the Prototype used its lazer pointer. And the theory that 1006 IS Elliot is honestly making a little bit more sense now
And tbh I think it’s crafty corn who drew and wrote the messages we saw in chapter 1 because if you pay attention to one of her voicelines in chapter 3 she says she wants red and the door of the room where poppy is in also has red paintings on it so…
I have a theory to add on to this, poppy says the prototype put her in there what if the smiley critters found poppy and think she was locked up there for a reason because they saw cat naps gas In there with her so they think catnap had a reason to put her in there so they got scared of her

So there's scents for each character and these are probably scents they release from the holes in their mouth like peppermint but Catnap's scent lavender is unaligned and instead of releasing lavender, Catnap releases the red gas and puts his friends and children to sleep so they can be well-rested.

The one thing that always struck me as absolutely terrifying. In Poppy's commercial she says "I'm a real girl, just like you." Is her end goal to turn into a real girl? Sort of like a Pinocchio horror story
Also The Heretics might be the people who have the flower Heretics were being killed by CatNap. Because of a ritual they did it needed Sarfice maybe CatNap had a friend and they killed CatNaps friend.

I have another reason for this, in the cardboard stand voice cutout thingy (idk what to call it) KraftyCorn said that she needed more red paint, the color of the poppy flower, which explains that she drew the poppy flower in chapter 1

Okay, I HIGHLY doubt the critters put poppy in the case, Because in chapter 2, at the end with the train, She says: "I was so scared she'd put me back in that case!" Implying that mommy had put her in there. (Plus, the revenge part would be BECAUSE mommy had put her in the case. which is why she said: "Did you kill her? Good. board the train, we need to leave.") And I get referencing the next chapter but I don''t think she was referencing any of the smiling critters

plus, catnap isn't the ONLY one with the gas. That's a mistake I see a lot of people make. We even see a factory with the poppy gas in chapter 3! It appears that catnap was GIVEN The poppy gas, not created it.
Also.. I get that this was probably before the "Hour of joy", and the factory would be easier to navigate, but how would Craftycorn get ALL THE WAY From a Pretty deep part of the factory to a place that's technically on the FIRST floor? In a VHS (I think its a VHS) We learned that the Smiling critters by the bigger body's company thing Were meant to stay INSIDE of Playcare. (In the VHS with catnap, we learn this from the quote: "the prototype's home is in the lab (or something along the lines of that) Your home is HERE.") Anyway. I think that somebody ELSE had put the poppy gas inside of Poppy's case.
I agree that there was gas in there. Because we didn't just GO to sleep. we went into REM sleep (i'm pretty sure. most people call it the "Knockout" term.) Which just PROVES the power of this gas.

Craftycorn’s cardboard cutout keeps continuously asking for red paint… If all the smiling critters were helping her, when they ran out of red she may have attacked one of the critters and used their blood… But why do they need so much red? To paint the GIANT RED POPPY surrounding poppy’s room.

Interesting theory. But, if Critters saw Poppy as a threat why don’t just kill her? They had more than enough power for that. That also includes Huggy and Mommy. Why didn’t they kill Poppy? Prototype has plans for Poppy? Or maybe Poppy and Prototype actually work together? Also Critters weren’t friends with CatNap long before The Hour of Joy. I guess all of them draw warnings on walls not to go further, because of bigger toys(like Mommy, Prototype and others). Also fun detail, CraftyCorn saying on her board “more red please” and giant poppy flower has a lot of red.
Or maybe I’m wrong.

I’m pretty sure we already solve it, because we went into the flower at the end in chapter 1, “find the flower”. Was what we did we found poppy, as you know poppy is a flower and that’s who we found.
Also I think “the flower” we went in, was a poppy.

my theory is that poppy sent the letter to the player and then the toys went against each other and poppy knew she can't keep up with prototype's control so she seeked help from the player and then maybe someone from the smiling critters locked her in the case then came crafty corn and sabotaged the poppy painting to scare the player or any one who would come to investigate in the end it's a theory
this theory is cool, but with the recent coming out of chapter 3 we can say that it might've not been the smilling critters to lock away poppy but rather catnap and 1006 due to the fact the rest of the smiling critters were said to revolt against catnap and 1006, this being said by dog day before he got eaten and possesed so they mightve even tried helping poppy, as dog day refers to us as "poppy's angel", i still believe we may be tricked by poppy but her includment with kissy missy makes me believe she isn't the main antagonist
