Love my CRF450RL. I came from another fuel injected bike so the throttle doesn't bother me at all. In fact, like others said in this thread, the instant on/off power becomes an advantage when you're used to it. Honda reliability is priceless when you're in the middle of nowhere.
@@mayson2 I'll answer in detail; I have a 2022 and it has never died by revving it. The ONLY time it dies is when I start it. It hardly ever stays running on the first button push. When it was brand new it was almost always 3 attempts but once I road it for a few weeks it's now 2. One start- dies almost immediately. Second start it stays running. I understand that a heavier flywheel may solve that as well and I'll probably give it a shot. Yours dying while revving is something I haven't heard from others. Is it just straight falling on its face? Do you have another 450RL rider with an ECU you could swap over to start eliminating possibilities?
@@TERMICOBRA I have a vortex ecu now but on the stock ecu it would die just by revving it sitting still in neutral, and also would take an extremely long time to idle without dying. I'd usually just crack the throttle a little for the first minute
Hey there, great video!!! So im into my 6th year of amateur enduro racing, been riding since i was 9. That low speed steady throttle chug you and many other riders notice is both a curse and a blessing. For me, it has saved my ass from tipping the bike at the crest of hill climbs or after i splatter up a wall or a tire it helps the bike get over the obstacle at its own pace doing its own work. However this does not help you much with trail riding or street riding for that matter. It ended up being a useful tool and i hope everything thinks of ways it can be useful before spending a boat load to fix it. Great video thanks for reading
I re-routed my throttle cable as well as installed a G2. This helped quite a bit. I also put on a pro Circuit T6 full system and a Power Commander 5. The Pwr Commander you can open the fuel map and adjust your fuel. I adjusted mine above 2000 rpm and what I did was add fuel at fitst and in the end subtracted fuel which also got rid of the little bit of popping I had left. There is a guy on youtube that shows you how to make your stock throttle cam almost just like the G2 cam. I tried it and had already ordered a G2 and it was very very close. So you really can get by with re-routing the throttle cables and diy the cam and almost fix it all for zero $$ Yeoow
Alot of people are adding the g2 ergonomics throttle tamer for a smoother pull and throttle response. They say it makes a big difference for a cost of like $80. In processing of getting the 450rl but will see if throttle bothers me or not
not for me 2022 450Rl and throttle stinks. I will be buying a throttle tamer, Vortex and pipe. I am a very experienced rider and this bike will stall on a single track and it is not lite at all. I do love it and will keep it for a very long time. The above mentioned fixes will make it an absolute joy to ride. Also going to add the Rekluse as well. Onward we roll Honda's will last !!!!
I bought the vortex and procircuit exhaust for the sound and power increase. But when I first bought the bike I immediately noticed the twitchy throttle and the stalling. Now I’m used to it but I’m excited for upgrades either way ✊🏽
I test drove my friends crf450L and noticed this ALOT. It would even cut off at intersections. Then I purchased a 2020 crf450RL, and it was soo much better than my friends, in regards to throttle and shutting off at slow speeds. Apparently the "RL" was retuned to fix this throttle problem. Forget about the KTM, my friend purchased a 2020 KTM 450 exc six days, and his cuts off ALOT more than my crf450RL. I seems like a common problem amongst these bikes. Something about tunning it to past on road inspection. Eitherway, the crf450RL seems to be alot better on the throttle problem than the previous crf450L and apparently my friends KTM 450 exc
I was thinking about a ktm450 but it was too much money for me, New ecu definitely makes the RL run way better, couldn't hardly stand mine off-road stock. But yeah new bikes seem like they'll just get worse and worse with emission laws, just like cars. Sad times
Beta bikes are supposed to run great with no mods needed. I am considering buying one. I had a 19 450L. The on off throttle was annoying however my biggest issue was the sudden unexpected flameouts trying to ride slow stuff.
The 450x shouldn't have the throttle problem, I dont think they choked that bike up for emissions as much. Does the x have a radiator? Weird that it overheats.

Has yours died much? Mine use to die just by revving it

I've heard people say the power commander definitely helps

I installed a Vortex ECU without changing the pipe and it fixed the problem, the people who sell the vortex will make program it accordingly.
Yeah there are different maps for the tuner and one of the maps is for the stock exhaust

Put a 2022 crf450r throttle cable on it and re route it infront of the handlebars.
After 200 miles I hardly notice it anymore, either the bike has improved or I got used to it... LOVE THIS BIKE... no mods yet btw
I'm getting fairly use to it, I still notice it offroad at slow speeds, ready for the ecu to come.
@@mayson2 I found a little more clutch feathering eliminates it almost entirely to when moving slow.

Yeah the flame outs drove me crazy. The betas seem to be pretty nice.
I have the 2019 crf450x that throttle problem doesn't seem to bother me just the over heating

@@mayson2 yah it has the same emissions on it i had to delete it it runs better since i did it over heats because it runs to lean
It takes some time to get use to it but I did buy a throttle tamer to see if that helps any.
Yeah I'm alot more use to it now, sometimes it still catches me off guard lol.
Fuel delivery issue , could just be plug , boot, coil or just bad fuel
