What you said looked like a spool, was an expansion joint of a pipe. When pipes run really hot or really cold liquids, the pipe will expand and shrink because of temperature. An expansion joint keeps the pipe from cracking or breaking.
I would have called the Sheriffs or local Police and let them know that a gun was found in there. It could be a crime scene or something innocent. I'd let them know anyway.

I think if you were to calm down some, take your time and concentrate you may be able to accomplish more of your goal. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and every magnet fisher I’ve watched is over the moon when finding a gun, but there is so much more to be found under water. I think your goal to remove so much debris from our waterways is extremely commendable. Our government, and previous generations failed us in thinking eh just toss it in the water what could be the harm? You realize the harm. Your work is hard, and back breaking. Please remember finding a river full of nails is equally as important as finding one that has a random gun. Don’t forget to turn those guns over to the authorities so they can investigate them for evidence in a crime. Keep up the phenomenal work, and don’t forget to eat. I’ve watched a few of your videos where you’ve mentioned that you hadn’t eaten prior to, or while working. Very dangerous.

Bird. Great finds. Emmy did wonderful!! You should show her in videos more often. Great work you all are doing. I agree it would be creepy to look on Google Earth to see someone and they still there when you get there..CREEPY 😉
Hey Bryce, enjoy your videos and especially enjoy the recycling the metal. You can easily get more money for the bullets if they’ve been shot. If they haven’t been shot, I wouldn’t recommend throwing them in the scrap yards metal be they can easily get hit wrong and go off. Idk if older bullets will but I’m sure they could if they got hit wrong
Who would buy useless bullets that will not fire or fit in a chamber due to corrosion and almost all of them have been fired and it's just the casings and cant be reloaded because they are steel case not brass
@@bigvito9008 brass ain't magnetic but cheap steel cased Russian imported ammo is even the bullet/projectile is a bi metal there's no such thing as magnetic brass
Bird. Emmie's 2nd gun, in less than a week, wow!! Some impressive finds indeed. That weird pipe thing you found may be a flex joint, for pipe that isn't quite straight on or is protection for a smaller pipe inside. Man, with amount of casings and wire and cables you are digging up, it may almost be worthwhile keeping them separate from the steel. Check what the price of brass and copper are. Brass (shell casings) is not magnetic, but the primers inserted in them are. All that wire, pretty much guaranteed it's copper. It may be worth less than bare copper, but is an idea to check out. I spent 25 years as a scrap jockey, and some of that stuff may get you better money. Aluminum is same thing. As for turkey buzzards, depending on how fresh, it may be a good idea to check that spot out sooner than later. If the kayak is out, that would be priority one in my books. Looks like that one spot may get you a good haul though. Keep up the great work!!
Bird. Those vultures need investigating...ASAP....I'm loving your videos by the way. Even though I only just discovered them on You Tube this week. Keep up the great work guys. The environment will love you for it. Good luck & stay safe. Koala kuddles all the way from Australia🐨🦘

I had a gun just like this one stolen from my car while I was in the hospital having back surgery. I was in Charlotte, NC at the time and that was bk in 1992. The gun was a 1967 model 22 short black with a pearl handle. It had an issue with the bullets getting stuck after firing it.
When you find a gun, don’t try to shoot it. Leave the bullets intact without touching the casing. If the gun was used in a murder, the bullets will still hold the fingerprints of the murderer. Call the police department immediately on scene. Do not take the gun home. Just FYI. Have fun magnet fishing.
The is not good advice most authorities don't want to deal with this if you can get the numbers off the guns go onto website see if they were stolen gone or missing if the gun is really really fresh Dan call the authorities if the police officers get there they have attitudes that means they don't appreciate you finding the gun👎
Bird. I think the tripod looking things might be old sign holders for road work signs. There were a few hooks that could hold the edge of those diamond shaped signs. I think most have been replaced with much lighter weight signs and holders. Check out the tools and keep what you might need, especially the elusive 10mm wrench. I don’t know why but that always seems to be the missing one and the one you need the most.
bird! best bridge to mag fish on in louisiana is the ones in the back roads! never wanna be on the main busy highways. back road is the key man then yall will find tons of guns im betting!
BIRD! Thanks for getting all this junk out of the rivers, streams etc. It's crazy that people throw this stuff in the water. They had to haul it there...... you think they could have taken it to a dump.
There’s probably quite a few truck parts looks like a control arm for a pickup truck and a strut. Also if they took the trigger mechanism out of that rifle they could’ve thrown it out further in same river or different river so that and revolver could’ve been used in robbery or something worse
Bird. I was watching the fisher's video and he shows how much things are sold for online like rail road pieces and old tools horse shoes and stuff like that. The vultures are probably just "roosting". Doesn't always mean there is something dead there. You would see them on the ground eating
Hundred of vultures don't roost in the same place at the same time. not unless there is alot of dead stuff every day.
