@@wernert5643 no, the Tesla spec is unique to Tesla alone. It's a very flexible standard that can be applied to everything or nothing. And everything fits! And if it doesn't adhere to the Model3 version of the Tesla spec, according to Musk...your measurement equipment is defective. 🤣 Tesla tried to get away with a horribly mounted charge port on my 3...showed the employee behind the desk the gaps and asked if I can be an ambassador to the brand like that. It got fixed after that. It's not perfect, but at least reasonably good. It's Tesla...don't expect perfect, but it has to be reasonable. Paint out of Fremont is horrible on average. It maybe more sound deadening rather than sound proofing. Sound proofing prevents the transmission of sound through the material, sound deadening generally changes the frequency of the sound, hopefully to something less objectionable, by changing the frequency at which the material resonates. But who knows?
There are major issues with this product (I installed this on my 3 as well). If you ever need to remove the "sound proofing" when you unscrew the fastener, the metal pieces will loosen within the upper deck and remain stuck in there unless you can miraculous remove it with a magnet. People have reported on older Model 3 such as Bjorn's, the rear deck has that opening. So the new lining does reduce noise. On later Model 3s, the opening is gone. On my car without the opening, the new lining installed, there has been no difference in noise but it does make the trunk look more finished.
Might be a bit late but I ended up using automotive retainer clips the push in type and 2 grocery hooks to attach the carpet so it's easily removable in the future. The 3d printed grocery hooks help hold up the carpet near the vhb. Noise reduction is minimal as Ironqqq said.
@@Mcivstx oh that's a great idea to use plastic clips. I recently had to have my car serviced for the rear camera harness recall which the liner needed to come out. Nice Job... great work.. I installed one last year. I turned the bass up on the stereo slightly. No measurements but seemed to reduce the rear tire noise slightly. Now I hear the front tires more. Maybe my imagination.
I’d consider it. When packing lots of stuff, the baggage can scratch on the screws and metal parts. Is it an improvement in this regard? I see some screws are “sunk” while other still stick out. WDYT?
I wonder if it cuts down the noise of the rear motor when it fires up. On the one hand I like the Star Trek-like sound the rear motor makes but sometimes its annoying.
