I’m so happy I found this video. I have terrible anxiety with needles and my doctor is gonna start me on Humira soon for my UC. I’m still nervous to take it myself but seeing this video helped me see that it isn’t a big process to take the medicine. Thank you for calming my nerves.
Hey, I am starting adalimumab (UK version) Tomorrow. This video was great thank you. I have alittle more confidence now self prescribing. However still a bit scared! I have been dyagnosed with indeterminative Colitis for soon to be 14 years. I have had a flare up for the past year and a half. It has been soul destroying. I used to be scared to talk or research these sorts of things however now with age I am more than happy to share my story and talk to like minded crohnies!! Thanks for the video, I hope you are keeping well.
Nice one Kayla, very brave. I’m 63 and having had three infusions am now just about to start taking injections, although due to NHS ( UK ), supplier and my travelling, my due date for first injection has rapidly been and gone, so when I get back to England I am trying to organise a nurse visit, albeit the window I have before I travel again is very short, I am doubtful if this can be arranged. As I have received the injections and waste disposal bin, I am fortunate having watched your excellent demonstration, of feeling much more confident to self inject if I need too. Thank you and I hope you are doing well. Regards Frank
Thank you for the demonstration. My husband will be doing his first injection within the next few days and advocate nurse may not be around. So, this was very helpful. He has UC also. God bless you. 🙏🙏
I was expecting more pain from the injection, but there was almost none. In fact, I wasn't even sure that I did it correctly until I saw the little pinhole from the injection site. It's four years after you first posted this, and I hope that you are well!
That’s great that you had less pain than you were expecting! Phew 😮💨 Giving yourself an injection is so much harder than giving one to someone else! Time flies!! I am doing well - thank you!
Thank you. My nurse couldn't make it in time for my first injection. I havent been too sure on what to do and have really feared doing it myself but your video has given me a lot of help. Thank you again. Wishing you & everyone watching well
Oh man!! I'm so happy to hear that my video helped!! I'm such a visual learner, so I wanted to put the same tool out there for those who learn like I do, or in your case, did not have someone to walk through it with you! How is the Humira working for you?
@@OstomyLifeUnfiltered you really do a great job! Thank you again and im actually on a different injection for chron's / ulcerative etc, tbh il never get used to using needles myself i feel like(i just get anxiety which is funny as im fine with others doing it) but in those desperate times this video helped! Thank you again! Wishing you good health and times! ✴️
Thank you sooo much for posting this. Much less scared now. I have UC and have been on Entyvio infusions which have stopped working. I have an appointment next week and I have a feeling my doctor is going to put me on something that is self administered. I'm a slight baby with needles but it looks easy! Thanks!
I'm so happy that my video was helpful! I was definitely in your shoes with being scared about poking myself, but it is not too bad and gets easier with every poke! :) Positive vibes for you!
I just received my prescription drug in the mail today to treat psoriasis of the nails. So I’ll begin to administer my first injection soon! Wish you guys better health throughout your journey using Humira! ✌️
Congratulations on being able to get Humira! I was just prescribed the medicine for my Plaque Psoriasis, and am currently waiting for it to be delivered. Hoping it’s super effective, and I see results quickly.
I hope everything went ok with Humira. In 2016 when I was 21 years old I was prescribed the medication for my Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2005 when I was 11 years old. My adult rheumatologist asked me if I had ever tried Humira and I said no. So I tried Humira when I was 21 years old and DKA is what I got.
Just watched your video. I've been using Humira for years but have been working overseas and always had the benefit of a health care professional administer it to me every other week. I just returned to USA and no longer have that service. I was surprised to receive the pen from the pharmacy. Have always had the Humira provided in syringes, so, a bit of a surprise. Very happy to find your video. The sound of the spring as you administered caught me by surprise. Glad to have known that in advance. Thanks for posting.
That would have been much better to have someone else do it to me! Good luck administering it to yourself! You will do great! The sound is more of a shock than anything!
Thanks for this video, we have alot in common. Was diagnosed with UC at 15, have been on remicade for 10 years and it stopped working for me. Just took my first humira dose today🙏praying it works since I've been having a flare up for the past year and a half
@@OstomyLifeUnfiltered ehh so so. Still having one small issue but it's more of an annoyance than a serious problem. Hopefully the Humira just needs more time to take full effect
Can I ask if when on Remicade did you have to take Azathioprine alongside it? I’ve been on Remicade since June and it brought me out of a horrific flare, had no issues with 8 week infusions but I’ve been asked to start Humira after only 10 months on Remicade due to Azathioprine not being suitable for me (I use tanning beds) I want to know if anybody else uses Remicade as mono therapy?
I read that this medication didn't work for you I was just wondering what you are taking now? my mom has taken this medication for a few months and it seemed to be helping her but she recently said that she had a relapse and doesn't think it is working and she doesn't think there are any more options for her im hoping that there is still something else she can try, anyhow great video love your cheerful positive energy it's uplifting 😉
I'm saving your video for later use! I have severe psoriasis and my methotrexate pills have stopped working so my doctor prescribed me with humira adalimumab and I'm about to get them for free in a few days! I'm so scared to inject myself so I'll go to the hospital to get help, but later when I get used to it I'll inject myself using your video as a tutorial! Thank you for sharing! Much love ♥️♥️♥️
I've been treating my flare ups with omeprazole or protonix and Tylenol, works pretty well if you're not home and need something over the counter to treat it, any discomfort usually goes away by the 3rd of 4th day, I've found there's a significant difference between day 1 and 2 but you still feel some discomfort on day 2
I recently started Humira injections for UC. The needle for this is so tiny I don’t even notice it. I just did injection 3 a few days ago…….I am already noticing a minor improvement with symptoms.
Late, but can I continue going to the gym while on humira? I have CD with iron deficiency anemia which i’d need iron infusion 1500mg every 3-4 months. so I’ll be starting the humira soon which hoping it’ll help put me under remission 😔
Thank you for posting this video! I was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and the first medication didn’t work so my Dr is switching me to Humira. I Will take my first shot today 12/27/22 and I’m so scared and nervous especially for the possible side effects and causes.
Good luck Tina!! I hope your shot went well! I just try to ease my mind by telling myself that the side effects may just have happened to a few people and that is why they have to list it as a possible side effect. Fingers crossed you don't have any and that it helps with your RA symptoms!
I still can’t do them myself. I have zero problem when a nurse gives me shots or drawls blood but giving myself the shot. I just can’t. My anxiety just watching these videos are threw the roof! My heart is beating so much just watching. I hate that I can’t give myself these dang shots!!!
Hi kayla highly appreciated ur work thanks for sharing please advise are u still on humira and do u taking them with medicine as combination or just humira regards
Thanks for posting this video. I’ve been diagnosed with Chrone’s disease so I’m trying to decide between Remicade or Humira and now think I’ll start with Humira. Infusion seems invasive….starting biologic treatment is scary.
I had probably the most unfortunate experience today trying to inject myself with humira. The number one cap didn't want to come off, despite my efforts. I had to twist it. I had to twist it. Something inside was rattling. Finally, when I injected my thigh, I pressed the syringe as hard as I could and held it against my thigh for more than 10 seconds. When I lifted the syringe, a splashes of humira sprinkled on my thigh, as if all those 10 seconds while I pressed the number 2 cap and held the syringe against my thigh, the humira contents were even no coming out of the syringe, despite the yellow indicator in the window on the side.
Does anyone have any comments on Humira helping RA? Today, my doctor wants me to start Humira injections, but I am a bit nervous! Also, thank you Kayla for this awesome video to help with the self injection.
Hello from India, I need to move to US for my masters. Is this medicine available for International Students in US covered under an insurance. Also, can you tell me the price for it.
