I am 100% with you on investing in fine jewelry Eileen. Just couldn’t bring my hard earned money to pay for plastics , glass and metals that can rust, precious metals and stones make so much more sense.
I’ve brought a fake in the past, I’ve never been able to afford designer brands and probably never will but I can dream. I’m 36 and nicest place I’ve ever brought bags from is *suluxs* lol 😂
Love all your jewelry pieces, Eileen! As always, you’ve inspired me and I am grateful for that. Congratulations on your 50 k subscribers. Have a blessed week ahead ❤
Dear Eileen, thanks for the lovely video. I too much favour previous metals, simply because they LAST. I have but a few pieces, but they are very well made. Hope to pass them on to our daughter in due time. Have a lovely day, Carolina
I share the same opinion, Eileen. Jewelry is my favorite accessory, too and I’m trying to invest on classics which are timeless and looks elegant.I’m enjoying a pair of diamond earrings on white gold setting. I wear it almost everyday, even on showers, in the office or at home.🥰😘🫶❤️
I just purchased another pair of diamond earrings to celebrate a professional accomplishment. I usually purchase jewelry to commemorate special events.
I don't get the current obsession with the massive costume tear drop that everyone and their uncle are drooling about. No way. Buy something that can be enjoyed and passed down. Agreed with everything.❤❤
Just started my fine jewelry collection starting the pandemic, after I switched out all my piercingg with gold. I am now moving on to bracelets/bangles and was surprised how much more expensive it is compared to necklaces! Especially since I have small wrists and off-the-rack sizing doesn't work on me I'm going bespoke or need to resize.
I have diamond ruby sapphire emerald 14k 18k 24k pearl jewelry pieces. I love them but other than stack dainty rings I don’t wear them much. I like costume jewelry, especially 80/90 vintage. The metal quality was really good, no tarnish at all. My bones get bigger and skin gets loose as I age, small scale doesn’t work that well anymore. I am size 4 and 5’3”, big chunky bangles earrings necklaces overwhelm me, too. I find that medium size pieces the best fit for now.
I use to love costume jewelry & now I know what a waste as I got older. 😅 I did enjoyed at the moment so no regrets. Thanks for sharing my lady. 🙏🏼❤️😘😘😘Sandy
Thumbs up even before I watched this video! I love Jewelry and I love your content. Wow! Your akoya earrings are stunning! I love akoya the most! The pinkish luster is unbeatable. South sea / Australian pearls are too big / mature for me for the time being. Please wear your pair of akoya more!! So so so stunning on you! Yes you are right that pearls and diamonds look really great together. They are very beautiful on their own, even better together! I love fine jewelry, especially bespoke. I equally love diamonds, pearls and gemstones. I have also been curating my Jewellery collection since last year. I spend time getting inspired of the design of my next jewelry piece. Last year I bought quite a lot new jewelry, because I want to build a slightly bigger collection before my skin ages when jewelry will look less complimentary on me. This year onward I will continue building my collection by adding one piece a year, like what I did in the past. If I add too many, my pieces will be competing against each other, like handbags. It’s my tradition of gifting myself a piece of jewelry every birthday.
@@ColourfulNoir I am looking for a pair of dangling pearl and diamond earrings. Probably a lengthy pair, similar length as what you are wearing in the video. Earrings are my top fav. I am happy with only 2-3 necklaces, only 2 bracelets and no watch. But I am never tired of earrings. Rings come second as I enjoy looking at them all the time. Rings cheer me up.
Pearls are my favourite type of jewellery. My oldest pieces are an Akoya strand and a pair of studs that I bought in Hong Kong in 1984 and I still wear them a lot today. Something you will notice with your Akoyas is that salt water pearls are at their dullest when you buy them and the more you wear them the brighter the lustre becomes. But they do need to be worn. They will become dull due to years of neglect but they can be revived just by regular wear again. Did you know that the salt water pearl industry is the most environmentally friendly jewellery industry in the world? Even given that sustainable, ethical mining has been around for many years now. They are heavily regulated and are only allowed to fish for a strict quota of oysters per year which is why they are not available in huge numbers and are definitely a luxury.
Yeah i do enjoy wearing the Cartier D'amour Necklace in Small in yellow gold. It is very timeless and simple which i can wear it everyday and pairing with a stud diamond earring too. It is just simple and everyday pieces for me. If i want a bit fancy i will go for a hoop earring too or a slidely long dangling earring. Will get some piece from Idly too. For watches, what do you think of the size 28, Lady Datejust in Oystersteel and yellow gold. Not sure if that is too small. I have a very small wrist too, 14.5cm or so. Thanks for your advice.
I know that this is a video on fine jewelry but I do have to mention here that silver is just as beautiful and is more affordable. They tarnish, yes, but if you wear them often enough they won't (and if they do tarnish anyway, cleaning is a breeze). Same goes for costume jewelry such as Hermes bangles; for as long as you weigh carefully what they cost against the frequency that you would wear them with and you make sure that you buy good quality, then it's definitely something you will enjoy. Finally, if you do wish to invest in fine jewelry, I suggest that you look for a reputable jeweler instead and have your pieces made specifically for you. That way your accessories are unique and speak of you rather than of the price tag that people immediately associate a branded piece with!
Also, I never thought of silver as not fine jewelry. It's not as valuable as gold, but I always thought of it as real jewelry. Many of my own favourite pieces are in silver.
Hello Eileen, may I ask what size is the main stud of your earrings from idyl? They have more than one size we can choose from but it’s not easy to have the right notion of the proportions online! Thx ❤
Pearls: it's all in the atitude. I wear my black pearls with jeans and a T (both black) as well as formal occassions. Pearls look like an extension of Me. I can't stand solitair diamonds & they don't "Do" anything for me on a style level either. I think the best way to wear jewelry is to pick something that looks like a part of you like your hair or eyes. You will know it when you see it.
At the beginning of the video you say that pairing 5 Love bracelets is not your cup of tea and that you don't justify fashion jewelry, then you wear a leather CDC bracelet, in my opinion it is a contradiction. I love Love bracelets but I would wear at most 2 (1 YG and 1 WG) on my right wrist.
Thank you for pointing that out! I mentioned before that I purchased the Hermes CDC because the hardware is gold plated and I really enjoy the leather quality, but you’re right in saying they’re still technically fashion jewelry xx
just my 2 cents, lab grown diamonds have no value unlike real mine diamonds...so I opt for glass crystals from Swarovski instead as they sparkle even brighter than diamonds ;-)
I am afraid Swarovski or any other diamond substitutes will lose its sparkles very soon, when the stone get scratched over use. Lab-grown / natural diamonds having the 10 hardness (on the Mxxx scale) would not lose its sparkles over time, even though it has no investment value. My two cents are: the value of lab-grown diamond is its forever sparkles.
I agree that we should not buy anymore plastic and metal single use pieces but I personally buy silver because it is way more cheaper than gold and it can last a lot. I also do not agree with buying diamonds, I consider them overrated, highly expensive and for no reason. I prefer my money be invested in something that brings me passive income, rather than in highly expensive jewellry.
The best way to wear jewellery is to find vintage and second hand - then wear only what fits your specific outfit. This way they keep looking fresh and relevant. (ie if you wear a lot of blue look for costumes earrings or necklace in a coordinated colour. - they can look amazing and they are unique) So called ‘fine’ jewellery has the highest mark up of nearly everything else. Yes is made of ‘real’ gold ( ideally nothing under 18k) but the actual market value of the gold used is minuscule compared to retail price. Diamonds especially are very poor value and ethically suspect.

I agree with you Eileen! 🤍 Love beautiful, real, elegant & polished things. Your elegance shines, how you carry yourself 🤍
I don’t have a lot of “real” jewelry but I did buy some pearl studs at Tiffany years ago and it was the best purchase. I wear them daily.
Glad you're enjoying your purchase! xx

I use my pearls at any occasion, even with Jeans. I’ve a pair of lighter ones but I’m eyeing the rosy colored ones.
