    This is the best performance of this wonderful piece on RUclips. Beautiful vocal tone, perfect tempo.

    My heart is like a singing bird
    Whose nest is in a watered shoot;
    My heart is like an apple tree
    Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
    My heart is like a rainbow shell
    That paddles in a purple sea;
    My heart is gladder than all these
    Because my love is come to me.
    Raise me a dais of [silk and down]1;
    Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
    Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
    And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
    Work it in gold and silver grapes,
    In leaves and silver fleur-de-lys;
    Because the birthday of my life
    Is come, my love, is come to me.

    O my Luve is like a red, red rose
    That’s newly sprung in June;
    O my Luve is like the melody
    That’s sweetly played in tune.
    So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
    So deep in luve am I;
    And I will luve thee still, my dear,
    Till a’ the seas gang dry.
    Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
    And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
    I will love thee still, my dear,
    While the sands o’ life shall run.
    And fare thee weel, my only luve!
    And fare thee weel awhile!
    And I will come again, my luve,
    Though it were ten thousand mile.

    I've now encountered this song in two separate places; tomorrow I will be singing it under the direction of the composer, Bob Chlclott... along with two other works of his.
    Can anybody tell me where the delightful image comes from? Is it ancient or modern? Yours, George

      it's a portion of the "madonna of the pomegranate" by Botticelli, one of the most famous painters of the Italian Renaissance. Yours, Carla.

      +Carla Salazar ... thank you .. I have a vast print of "Leda and the Swan " ... by that Scientist Leonardo da Vinci ... who was taught Maths by Luca Pacioli, who invented Double Entry Bookkeeping .. they shared digs in Venice... and the posy in the child's hand reappears here .. 500 years later .. the artist in 2012 had clearly seen "Leda" sometime .. app.box.com/s/k3egba0jckgguz32fkuw

      +Carla Salazar It's a testament to female and maternal sexual psychopathy .. I provided the initial imagery, and a Professional Artist friend of mine realised it .. it hangs on my wall in my study ...

      +George Gretton I have my doubts about your sanity but at least you are a very interesting person. You sound like a Poe....
