I had, serendipitously, taped this version out of a radio show (Radio-3, Spain, by Ramon Trecet), togetrher with the Dinata-Dinata from the same live recording, and one other song I do not remember now. I loved all three, and remembeer listening to all three over and over, enjoying even the "talk" portions.
I would love to know the title/reference of the specific CD where this live recording may be found. Anyone knows?

Ahmet's sung version pre-dates Ellies'. Ara, as an American of Armenian ancestry could have indeed obtained the traditional melody as part of his cultural inheritance.
In this the most reasonable scenario, the old melody of shared Turco-Armenian-Kurdish origin also has obtained a Greek version thanks to Lena's wonderful lyrics.
Dittto, of course, for Bignol, which became Parapono.
In passing, it's important to note that Ellie began her wonderful career in performing Rebetiko--all songs of which have (at least) dual transcription turko/Greek.
