Holy crap!!!.....finally someone who can break down the similarities and differences in regular everyday fkn talk. Thank you! Great explanations and guide to making a decision.
Dope vid fam! Thanks for the shoutout. I started on the Digitakt also, then got an Octatrack 6 months later... I always spend 2 weeks to a month on a new instrument to learn it inside and out, then I added the Digitakt to the equation. BOOM! killer combo! The OT/DT combo makes the perfect sampler for me.
good video...isn't it crazy tho that with the firmware upgrade the digitakt no longer has any of the limitations you mentioned? so cool of elektron to do that
Great video. It looks like you can get a workflow down very quickly because of the tactile format of the elektron devices. I love to see Hiphop music done on different devices outside what everybody uses.
@@mikevenus4117 it’s dope. You gotta be patient I’m still trying to figure a lot out on the modular side. It’s too expensive though and I mostly use samplers
@@hypebeastdad I was asking about it because I want to get the zoia pedal and the Poly Beebo pedal to be my modular system that I can sample from and make beats with. I do a lot of resampling in my workflow because I can make my own loops. What do you think about the zoia and beebo pedals?
Nice comparison. Worth mentioning also some other major differences: Oktatrack has way more effects (Elektron are generally stingey with effets on their "cheaper" boxes) and also has native time and pitch shift, which on the Digitakt can be achieved only with some very funky LFO usage (or so I believe). Also, the Digitakt has song mode these days.
i grew up on the Alesis MMT-8. I loved the simplicity. It was easy to set up the parameters; I could lay down tracks fast and easy; you could quantize (if necessary); bounce tracks together, turn the 8 tracks on and off and , making the song up as you go, or creating songs in song mode. But I haven't used any outboard gear for a while. I've been using a Hexidecimal tracker on the computer, doing some "lo-fi" stuff for a while. But I would love to get back into sequencing on outboard gear. And I'm wondering if either the Digitakt or Octatrack would be a good fit for me.
The Elektron OGs behind the Octatrack have died or left the company. I think the best we could hope for is a new Digitakt style sampler with stereo sampling and slicing. I doubt we'll see anything with OT level complexity and depth again.
@@AdamsOlympia you serious? Wow I think just caused you said that imma pull mine out and cook up next month with it. I been mostly Mpc 5000 and the new te hypebeast toy

Let me know if you need updated info I have been using both for a while now
@@hypebeastdad certainly! Now it can chop (a bit limited though) and has a song mode, stakes are higher

Yes sir that’s exactly how I feel. The ability to touch buttons is being lost in a lot of new equipment
@@hypebeastdad true. I seen your videos of you doing Modbap. How is it?

2023, Digitakt has song mode. What now?
Round two

Why not Maschine Plus ?

Check both the digitakt is easier to grasp but mono. The octatrack is deep as hell
How long did it take before you had a steady flow on Octatrack?
A few days. But if you don’t stay on it you forget it. I tried to go back recently and I was lost 😞
Ive had the digitakt for awhile too, would love to trade mine for an octatrack mk2.
I was in the same boat. Im sure someone would trade the mk1 for a Digitakt.
Actually keep the digitakt for drums Octatrack for samples I think I found voltron
I'm surprised they haven't made a MK3 Octatrack.......
2024

DARN Senor, took me two years to get fast flow FF on the Model: Cycles so i guess Digitack would be closer to M:Cycle$
why compare two COMPLETELY different boxes. 🤦🏿♂ next do Hydrasynth vs. NordDrum 🤔🙄👎🏿
Cause a lot of people think these are comparable. I think they compliment each other.
Because some people are interested in that comparison, me included.
Next do piano vs lawnmower. I’m interested in both of those.
They are not. BUT they go great together.
