What I loved about the manga was the Hoenn chapters of Ruby and Sapphire. More specifically how they essentially changed the concept of the male character being a battler while female is a talent competitor with Ruby, the mall protag, becoming the talent competitor and Sapphire, the female protag, becoming the gym challenger.
And the best part is that there is actual context behind the situation too. Almost everything in that arc got proper treatment and handling to it. Which makes it my favorite arc of all time
My life would be filled with color if Adventures gets an anime, seeing Yellow or B/W chapters in animation would make me cry tears of joy But Pokemon Company are cowards

You hit it right on the head. Most of it is so well thought out and given proper love to. But more than anything, it easily cements itself as an unforgettable experience that you will always look fondly back at. Even the more lighthearted ones. And the serious events? Perfection. Also, Pokemon anime may make me like Dawn, Serena, and May. Pokemon Special make me love EVERY SINGLE rival and playable character (both male and female), because they shared equal spotlight and their relationship with each other is strong whether friendship, rival, or love (looking at you Ruby Sapphire).
Because kids would rather watch TV than read a book. XD Though really, Pokémon plants Ash’s face everywhere, so it’s easy to see why newcomers would drift to checking out the anime over reading the manga
You have no idea how happy it makes me to see somebody else out there giving this manga the light of day. It is by FAR the best version of Pokémon out there and anybody who is a fan of Pokémon DESERVES to read this series.

At least the official one, i saw some doujinshi series that actually surpass this but pokemon adventure aint a pushover either and willing to take a risk. Its a retelling rather than direct sdaptation but its amazing nonetheless

Gotta say, the gen 1 on Pokemon Adventures felt as jenky as the gen 1 games. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just weird and bizarre, but also really fun. I'm excited to read the rest. PS: I recommend you the fan manga Festival of Champions. It takes a long time to update and has only a few chapters, but it's my favorite pokemon story.

Not denying the deaths. Just pointing out that it wasn't done in a "gory or brutal" fashion like the Arbok scene, who doesn't even die in the first place. Because many are getting the wrong impression that PokéSpe is always brutal or gruesome. When in reality, minus a special few scenes, it's perfectly compatible for people of all kinds haha

3:38 to make a small correction this concept of the Pokédexs becoming a symbol only really started by I think the FRLG arc or the Emerald arc. Because by this point it started being a trend that individuals saw that those with pokedexs stood up to stop crises and conflicts thus the birth of the title “Pokédex holders”.

@@Missingno_Miner No, you are completly right! It was Oak who first mentioned them in the GSC arc. The time the titles got introduced was actually a pretty intense part of the story (I don't want to spoil it here XD)
I started the Pokémon Adventures Manga last year and man has it been a blast going through it, though now it's a waiting game for getting the next volumes since Black and White 2 manga only finished recently and the next volume, volume 54, is coming out in April 2021... which that is going to be a long wait... Still hope to catch your videos since it will be nice to hear more people talking about this series and hopefully one day this will get a anime adaptation.

dude i LOVED these mangas as a kid. I read them over and over again and was in love with about every character!! Such a crime these books are so underrated, most of the stories in these mangas are genuinely WAY better than a lot of the official pokemon anime 😭

The manga is objectively better then the anime like people have they’re preferences I understand you might be more attached to one thing or another but nostalgia and preference doesn’t effect a story or anything’s worth only how much you like it
I mean I wholeheartedly agree. I think Pokemon Adventures IS Pokemon at its full potential. Better than both the anime and games by miles. Because they actually make use of these concepts that otherwise stay on surface value and elevate it by miles. All the while retaining the same identity regarding Pokemon that we grew up with and loved. It's why I started this series and will continue covering all these arcs in proper detail. Because I'm honestly done with these iconic moments not being given the proper love it should. So yeah. Expect some changes to be made on this platform. I'm just getting started.

It's sad they will never make a Pokemon adventures anime. I've read up to the sun and moon. I love how everyone ages and changes throw out the manga. Blue (the female) only thinks about herself at first. But then as she starts making friends, she starts caring for others. She also started showing her need to be a normal girl, especially in fire red and leaf green. Silver was a loner only caring about himself and his "big sister" Blue, but later starts to accept the others. Including his pokemon the he was very hard on in the beginning. As for my favorite character Yellow, she had to get out of her comfort zone and start battling. She was sheltered from the evils of the world, until she saw them first hand. She still only fights as a last resort, but isn't 100% agent it by the end. I hope they get everyone together like on the emerald ark. I have to finish sun and moon to see if they at least show the kanto ones. it's nice to see what everyone has been up to.

It saddens me to see content about it only go up to the Yellow arc at best, when the future volumes have so much more to offer. It's an injustice I won't stand for anymore. So don't worry friend. I love how the artists didn’t hold back because that’s how Satoshi imagined Pokémon. Although Pokémon might seems to be for kids, doesn’t means everything in their world are like children friendly. I’m happy that the pokespe manga is kind of realistic, and I love the fact how they didn’t hesitate to kill off Steven, Norman and Courtney for the plot. In fact I love how they use characte’s death to make a huge twist in the Ruby sapphire plot

God, I love the Pokémon Adventures manga. I first discovered it when I found some of its volumes at my local library. It was amazing, and I was really hoping that I got to see the conclusion of GSC(unfortunately, the library never got it)

@@TheUziGunner I think the coolest moment in Pokémon special will be when Giovanni has his rematch with red (explicitly this not the other way around). Especially when Giovanni starts this rematch by not only elevating red above him but points out the reality that he is the challenger and challenges red not as the mastermind of team rocket, nor as the ex viridian city gym leader, but as a fellow trainer.
Thank you for the video. This manga series is CRIMINALLY underexposed to the large Pokemon fanbase worldwide. If this is the direction that the Pokemon franchise would go to in the future, I have no doubts it will revitalize the and elevate the franchise to new heights.

See normally I wouldn't mind sticking to what the localizers decide. But it's kinda hard to here, since the PokéSpe holders have eyes that match their name. Green (rival) has green eyes, while Blue (best girl) has blue eyes. Also doesn't help that in the FRLG arc, the covers of each volume have colors that match their name. So yeah. Still, interesting observation
TheUziGunner Honestly I first started knowing the manga with the girl calling herself green so I sticked with it since even I get confuse at times which one is called green and which one is blue.... it kind of became more confusing when they change the name of the character somewhere down the series. and since I originally known pokemon from the Ruby and Sapphire version in the gameboy franchise I'm not as fluent with the much older games. Heck i didn't even know there was a yellow version 😂

Pokemon is one of those game series that i never played as a child, and i wish i did however eventhough i got into this series as a teenager, it still felt like a childhood dream to me!!

@@TheUziGunner Oh dont worry, i already know mostly everything about the Pokemon games, the only thing i never managed to play or experience were the Pokemon switch games. As much as i love the switch, im one of those guys when their isnt a game that i cant spend than lets watch it online. Id rather watch my games than play them, im more of a 3ds guy anyway, even though it doesnt have the games and stuff the switch has, its still an enjoyable experience, i was born with the 3ds and i cant leave it, if i want to know more about a new game i just watch it online.

Your comment is the exact motivation for why I even made or started this path in the first place. There are a multitude of great things to say about this series. With elements that I daresay can define someone's entire childhood and view of this franchise with infinite potential. However, none of this is really touched upon on this platform. Instead, most people stop at the Yellow arc, when it arguably gets much better from the other arcs afterwards, not to mention the multiple misconceptions that other content creators put on this manga series, just because they see a decapitated Arbok and feel like they should put that out there for views. I am done letting such false representation of this series stay the way they are. If things are gonna change, I may as well be that change. And I can assure you this is just the beginning. I will not stop until I cover every single arc and its defining moments in proper detail. So that more can know about the greatness of this series and get an accurate representation of it. This is the first manga I ever read. And yeah I agree so much about what you statements at the beginning! The use of strategy, the involvement of Gym Leaders (who are just bosses to beat in the games) in the main plot, and the power system as a whole is far more complex. That aside, the Arbok scene may give newbies a false impression about how it's going to be more dark and mature and while it is compared to the anime, it still doesn't reach the level of your everyday Shonen like Naruto. It is still a very good manga and I recommend every Pokémon enjoyer to read!
And the awesome thing about this series is finally being appreciated and given new life. RUclipsrs like Cosmic Star Productions and Egan Media have started to dub over the manga. Egan has already released two episodes with high quality. While Cosmic Star Productions are producing another part of the story and is in the making!!

The way that this manga can really delve so deep into every character, even the villains, makes me so happy. It gives content I never thought I needed, and some villains really develop into better people overtime, making their arcs feel substantially more satisfying. Without spoiling anything, I can safely say that Cyrus's arc in the manga means so much to me that it puts the anime to shame (not that that's saying much, but I REALLY hate anime Cyrus). I haven't read all of the books cause reading be hard af, but man, they are just that fuckin good.

Pokémon Adventures has always been a series I wanted to get into but could never find; until recently. They recently started releasing these awesome Omnibus volumes which will seem to go all the way up to the Emerald arc at volume 10. and with all of them so far (as of the time writing this, everything up to volume 6 is out right now) I can say for sure that I'm fully invested in this series.
Oh the characters are flawed. Take Sapphire for example: while being the most knowledgeable of Pokémon among the 'Dex holders, she's also functionally illiterate which almost prevents her to take on Roxanne's Gym which requires passing a written test to participate.

everything you say is so true! this is one of the best fictional works I've read. hidenori's skill as a storyteller improves with each new story. it's no understatement to say that it's changed my life in more ways than one! my favourite story and the one that moved my the most is diamond-pearl-platinum. little diamond is so much like me, it helped me understand things about my own self.

Best review of the pokémon manga I have seen yet! Usually, I just watch the video and then comment everything I think that should have been talked about but you covered it all, even the smallest things. Blue’s also my favourite character and the Red/Green manga rivalry is on par with Ash/Paul or better.

Thanks for the detailed explanation in the video!! for the past few months I've been revisiting and exploring the net, especially Twitter and Pixiv for Pokemon artworks, and many of the charming artworks I found are labeled "Pokespe". I wasn't really paying attention to it, but after finding out about the manga's presence, I got very intrigued. It's a shame it's not published (yet) by a publisher in my country, and my broke 23 y/o self who hasn't managed to land a job, forces me to read it from the net first before having the chance to own the English books :'( :'( . I read about this manga online years before it started showing up at my local book shops. Anyone who's tried getting into the anime but were put off by all the jelly dounuts and drying pans might find Adventures more palletable.
I haven’t been too interested in the newer Pokémon stuff lately, but I’m open to the older stuff, and this manga piqued my interest. I even bought the box set for Red & Blue, and I’m looking forward to reading the series.

What I loved about the manga was the Hoenn chapters of Ruby and Sapphire. More specifically how they essentially changed the concept of the male character being a battler while female is a talent competitor with Ruby, the mall protag, becoming the talent competitor and Sapphire, the female protag, becoming the gym challenger.
And the best part is that there is actual context behind the situation too. Almost everything in that arc got proper treatment and handling to it. Which makes it my favorite arc of all time

Not denying the deaths. Just pointing out that it wasn't done in a "gory or brutal" fashion like the Arbok scene, who doesn't even die in the first place. Because many are getting the wrong impression that PokéSpe is always brutal or gruesome. When in reality, minus a special few scenes, it's perfectly compatible for people of all kinds haha

Because by this point it started being a trend that individuals saw that those with pokedexs stood up to stop crises and conflicts thus the birth of the title “Pokédex holders”.

I started the Pokémon Adventures Manga last year and man has it been a blast going through it, though now it's a waiting game for getting the next volumes since Black and White 2 manga only finished recently and the next volume, volume 54, is coming out in April 2021... which that is going to be a long wait... Still hope to catch your videos since it will be nice to hear more people talking about this series and hopefully one day this will get a anime adaptation.

dude i LOVED these mangas as a kid. I read them over and over again and was in love with about every character!! Such a crime these books are so underrated, most of the stories in these mangas are genuinely WAY better than a lot of the official pokemon anime 😭

The manga is objectively better then the anime like people have they’re preferences I understand you might be more attached to one thing or another but nostalgia and preference doesn’t effect a story or anything’s worth only how much you like it
I mean I wholeheartedly agree. I think Pokemon Adventures IS Pokemon at its full potential. Better than both the anime and games by miles. Because they actually make use of these concepts that otherwise stay on surface value and elevate it by miles. All the while retaining the same identity regarding Pokemon that we grew up with and loved. It's why I started this series and will continue covering all these arcs in proper detail. Because I'm honestly done with these iconic moments not being given the proper love it should. So yeah. Expect some changes to be made on this platform. I'm just getting started.

It's sad they will never make a Pokemon adventures anime. I've read up to the sun and moon. I love how everyone ages and changes throw out the manga. Blue (the female) only thinks about herself at first. But then as she starts making friends, she starts caring for others. She also started showing her need to be a normal girl, especially in fire red and leaf green. Silver was a loner only caring about himself and his "big sister" Blue, but later starts to accept the others. Including his pokemon the he was very hard on in the beginning. As for my favorite character Yellow, she had to get out of her comfort zone and start battling. She was sheltered from the evils of the world, until she saw them first hand. She still only fights as a last resort, but isn't 100% agent it by the end. I hope they get everyone together like on the emerald ark. I have to finish sun and moon to see if they at least show the kanto ones. it's nice to see what everyone has been up to.

I'd love to see you review the GSC arc since that one was my all time favorite seeing all the Dex Holders team up

That's always been one of my biggest gripes when I saw all this PokeSpe content. Yes, it's nice that there is content where peeps cover it. But it's always just Red and Blue, to Yellow at best! They never go past that, despite the future arcs being arguably so much better in terms of quality and content! That in itself is unacceptable to me and I'll make it so that I continue it for the foreseeable future. That is my promise to you.

I love how the artists didn’t hold back because that’s how Satoshi imagined Pokémon. Although Pokémon might seems to be for kids, doesn’t means everything in their world are like children friendly. I’m happy that the pokespe manga is kind of realistic, and I love the fact how they didn’t hesitate to kill off Steven, Norman and Courtney for the plot. In fact I love how they use characte’s death to make a huge twist in the Ruby sapphire plot
Very well said! The directions the story went truly made it a one-of-a-kind experience for me that had me on the edge of my seat throughout the ride. This series truly was and is one in a million and beyond its time.

God, I love the Pokémon Adventures manga. I first discovered it when I found some of its volumes at my local library. It was amazing, and I was really hoping that I got to see the conclusion of GSC(unfortunately, the library never got it)
That's an amazing way to get introduced to it friend! For me, I just heard about it and decided to give it a shot. Was blown away by just how good it is! The GSC arc and its conclusion left tears in my eyes and is an absolute thing of beauty. Especially when Giovanni starts this rematch by not only elevating red above him but points out the reality that he is the challenger and challenges red not as the mastermind of team rocket, nor as the ex viridian city gym leader, but as a fellow trainer.
Thank you for the video. This manga series is CRIMINALLY underexposed to the large Pokemon fanbase worldwide. If this is the direction that the Pokemon franchise would go to in the future, I have no doubts it will revitalize the and elevate the franchise to new heights.

RUclips lacks content about it. At best, people cover Yellow arc when there's so much more to talk about. The Mask of Ice. Ruby and Norman's relationship. Ruby's character development and more. I will cover all of them and ensure that this platform gets infested with proper PokeSpe content!

See normally I wouldn't mind sticking to what the localizers decide. But it's kinda hard to here, since the PokéSpe holders have eyes that match their name. Green (rival) has green eyes, while Blue (best girl) has blue eyes. Also doesn't help that in the FRLG arc, the covers of each volume have colors that match their name. So yeah.
Still, interesting observation
TheUziGunner Honestly I first started knowing the manga with the girl calling herself green so I sticked with it since even I get confuse at times which one is called green and which one is blue.... it kind of became more confusing when they change the name of the character somewhere down the series.
and since I originally known pokemon from the Ruby and Sapphire version in the gameboy franchise I'm not as fluent with the much older games. Heck i didn't even know there was a yellow version 😂

I feel you! Started reading PokéSpe 6 years back. Never really continued from GSC until this year. Was absolutely blown away. Reread the Red Blue and Green arc. Just as good as I remember it to be! Can't wait to show you and the others my review of it!

Pokemon is one of those game series that i never played as a child, and i wish i did however eventhough i got into this series as a teenager, it still felt like a childhood dream to me!!

@@TheUziGunner Oh dont worry, i already know mostly everything about the Pokemon games, the only thing i never managed to play or experience were the Pokemon switch games. As much as i love the switch, im one of those guys when their isnt a game that i cant spend than lets watch it online. Id rather watch my games than play them, im more of a 3ds guy anyway, even though it doesnt have the games and stuff the switch has, its still an enjoyable experience, i was born with the 3ds and i cant leave it, if i want to know more about a new game i just watch it online.

Your comment is the exact motivation for why I even made or started this path in the first place. There are a multitude of great things to say about this series. With elements that I daresay can define someone's entire childhood and view of this franchise with infinite potential. However, none of this is really touched upon on this platform. Instead, most people stop at the Yellow arc, when it arguably gets much better from the other arcs afterwards, not to mention the multiple misconceptions that other content creators put on this manga series, just because they see a decapitated Arbok and feel like they should put that out there for views.
I am done letting such false representation of this series stay the way they are. If things are gonna change, I may as well be that change. And I can assure you this is just the beginning. I will not stop until I cover every single arc and its defining moments in proper detail. So that more can know about the greatness of this series and get an accurate representation of it. Unpopular statement: Pokemon adventures is one of the hidden gems.
This is the first manga I ever read.
And yeah I agree so much about what you statements at the beginning! The use of strategy, the involvement of Gym Leaders (who are just bosses to beat in the games) in the main plot, and the power system as a whole is far more complex.
That aside, the Arbok scene may give newbies a false impression about how it's going to be more dark and mature and while it is compared to the anime, it still doesn't reach the level of your everyday Shonen like Naruto. It is still a very good manga and I recommend every Pokémon enjoyer to read!

And the awesome thing about this series is finally being appreciated and given new life. RUclipsrs like Cosmic Star Productions and Egan Media have started to dub over the manga. Egan has already released two episodes with high quality. While Cosmic Star Productions are producing another part of the story and is in the making!!

I’m about halfway through the diamond and pearl arc, I think that my favourite one was Gold & Silver
The way that this manga can really delve so deep into every character, even the villains, makes me so happy. It gives content I never thought I needed, and some villains really develop into better people overtime, making their arcs feel substantially more satisfying. Without spoiling anything, I can safely say that Cyrus's arc in the manga means so much to me that it puts the anime to shame (not that that's saying much, but I REALLY hate anime Cyrus). I haven't read all of the books cause reading be hard af, but man, they are just that fuckin good.

Pokémon Adventures has always been a series I wanted to get into but could never find; until recently. They recently started releasing these awesome Omnibus volumes which will seem to go all the way up to the Emerald arc at volume 10. and with all of them so far (as of the time writing this, everything up to volume 6 is out right now) I can say for sure that I'm fully invested in this series.
Costco really came in clutch with the 3 box sets sale years ago. By far one of my favorite manga series
Oh the characters are flawed. Take Sapphire for example: while being the most knowledgeable of Pokémon among the 'Dex holders, she's also functionally illiterate which almost prevents her to take on Roxanne's Gym which requires passing a written test to participate.

it's no understatement to say that it's changed my life in more ways than one! my favourite story and the one that moved my the most is diamond-pearl-platinum. little diamond is so much like me, it helped me understand things about my own self.

Best review of the pokémon manga I have seen yet! Usually, I just watch the video and then comment everything I think that should have been talked about but you covered it all, even the smallest things. Blue’s also my favourite character and the Red/Green manga rivalry is on par with Ash/Paul or better.

Agreed! I did mention that it does play a factor and have its merits. But it is just one piece of the puzzle. Red's fight with Giovanni proves that imo. I am a huge fan of the friendship "cliche". However I also appreciate it more when it's integrated with outsmarting/outplaying your opposition

Thanks for the detailed explanation in the video!! for the past few months I've been revisiting and exploring the net, especially Twitter and Pixiv for Pokemon artworks, and many of the charming artworks I found are labeled "Pokespe". I wasn't really paying attention to it, but after finding out about the manga's presence, I got very intrigued.
It's a shame it's not published (yet) by a publisher in my country, and my broke 23 y/o self who hasn't managed to land a job, forces me to read it from the net first before having the chance to own the English books :'( :'( .
I do look forward for more videos on Pokespe from you. It seems to me that the Pokespe videos do very well on your channel :) :).
I read about this manga online years before it started showing up at my local book shops. Anyone who's tried getting into the anime but were put off by all the jelly dounuts and drying pans might find Adventures more palletable.
I haven’t been too interested in the newer Pokémon stuff lately, but I’m open to the older stuff, and this manga piqued my interest. I even bought the box set for Red & Blue, and I’m looking forward to reading the series.
