Cal was a great performer. I had the pleasure of seeing him live once in Tulsa, around 30 years ago, I guess, along with Hank Thompson and Connie Smith, at a FREE show sponsored by a Tulsa radio station, KBOOFM.
(If a wife and a lover could be one of the same what a beautiful world this would be) if this was true I think there would less divorces in the world today. Love this son
This guy played with the late, great Ernest Tubb. He brings a fine country song, and he does this song plenty of justice. Cal Smith should have had more hits than he had.
Another little known fact is that after he left Ernest Tibb's band The Texas Troubadours, Cal Smith had his own band, The Country Bumpkins, and one of his guitar players was the great Keith Whitley, another artist we lost WAY too soon.
I got sick of "Country Bumpkin" cause the radio played it to death in Virginia in 1974, but I LOVED this one and "The Lord Knows I'm Drinkin" ..... great songs!
I have been a Cal Smith fan for over 50 years. I've been COUNTRY since I was a teenager and I'm proud to say "at 67 I'm still COUNTRY".
This is true country I sure miss it its real life not the crap they put out today
AMEN!!!
Anything he sings is great

Whisperin' Bill can write from all ends of the spectrum.

Loved Country Bumpkin, still do! This is a great song also! Thanks!
Love this!

Kigsgrama Country Bumpkin has got to be in the top 10 country hits of all time. Great song, great singer. Sad he passed away.
How about "She Talked A Lot About Texas" or "Jason's Farm'
Why oh why has this bloke not been played at all. out here in Australia I had an old single called Jasons Farm. Another great song
This was on the radio.
You need to hear "The Lord Knows I'm Driving", "Country Bumpkins", and "She Talked A Lot About Texas" too. All great songs by him.
A great 🍻 drinking song
Cal is great.
OH OH DARLIN DARLIN❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's for sure
Heck of a voice!!, 5*****
the best.
I thought the original song goes "the new burlesque queen", not "the honky-tonk queen".
Just a song - maybe - but words - words can cause hurt, pain and harm. Just a song that gets listened to.
Just saying
WRONG! It's not just a song. It's reality. It's also why I'm a committed bachelor. "Just sayin'".
