Why I wouldn't bet on Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers to win the College Football Playoff

FanDuel Sportsbook has released odds for futures across college football: spreads for various games across the country, early Heisman Trophy odds, and odds for the College Football Playoff National Championship. The Georgia Bulldogs have the best odds to win it all, which would be their third in four years, followed closely by the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns. The LSU Tigers, however, are tied with Ole Miss for the sixth best odds to hoist the CFP trophy at the end of the season at +1500. But how realistic is it that LSU can win a national championship when they have this many questions on the defensive side of the ball?
After the 2023 season, one that displayed the worst Tigers defense in program history, head coach Brian Kelly cleaned house with the defensive coaching staff and brought in Blake Baker who transformed the Missouri Tigers defense over the last two years. Plus, Kelly hired Bo Davis from Texas and Kevin Peoples from Missouri, known to be two of the best defensive line coaches in the sport, to coach up the defensive line and pass rushers. While the coaching looks like an upgrade on paper, does LSU have enough talent up front and in the defensive backfield to be true contenders?

This defense will be much better bc of coaching. In the top 40 defenses. If LSU offense can control clock & avoid turnovers we will make the playoffs. All bets are off past that.

BK will pretty much tell the OCS want he wants to do on offense. BK will still run the type of offense that he wants. It's going to come down to how the players relate to, perform, & or execute the offensive plays.

Harold Perkins & Whit Weeks need to be used in creative & productive ways. These 2 players are some of the most athletic on the entire defense.

No, they're not winning a 🏆 with the current defense that they have. While the offense will be good, it won't be anything like it was last season. This will be Nuss's first season as a starting QB. He has to get his feathers wet first, before he can fly.
