Only been fishing for 3 months and already thinking of a 2nd rod. Currently using a Nytro Impax 10ft, and thinking of buying a Guru N Gauge pro rod. Not sure whether to buy a 9ft or 10ft. Great Vid & thanks
You would probably be fine with the 9ft, you will notice a big difference between the n-gauge and the nytro ! The guru rod has an awesome playing action
Belting evening session that pal 👍 glad you managed to give the rod a great workout 💪 and by the looks of it, stood up to all those hard fighting Ginghams carp 😊👍👌🏼💪🎣🐟🐟🐟
A great video as always Westy. Spot on camera work. Can I just say these Guru rods are excellent, I have only been coarse fishing for 12 months as I fly fished before and I brought myself the Guru A class feeder rod 10 foot for £50 and I caught 41 carp on it last week so that speaks for itself. I might treat myself to a spare rod and it will definitely be another Guru one. Thanks again for your excellent test out. Keep em coming. p.S I. Might have to buy some of ya merchandise to match the rods colours lol.
That is one of the reasons I like guru ! Matches my merch 😂 I’m such a tackle tart ! I have an 11ft A-class and I wasn’t as impressed with it , but you can’t argue for the price 👌🏻
Great stuff westy 👍🏻great review I have the original N-gauge rods. Looks like guide and carbon upgrade. I feel these rods are very soft and beast up in the butt section, progressive action. It’s a good all round rod will suit silvers and small hooks and you won’t get any hook pulls. Keep posting buddy useful info 👍🏻👌🏻
I recently got a 9ft nytro ntr rod and reel combo from leigh tackle only £49.99 tested at the same venue (peg 3 opposite side) similar kind of rod action and handled low doubles. Good session there though Westy👍
Don't bother. I got the same 9ft nytro ntr rod... on 3rd session the 2nd section snapped on cast. 15gm Preston ics method feeder loaded with 2mm stiki pellets so wasn't overloaded. Rods are far too stiff in the butt section too.
I have the new N Gauge Barbel rob. Its 2 1/4 pound test curve. The rob build and general quality of the rod is excellent. Great price at just under £100.
Always interesting watching rod reviews. I do NOT get on with 10´ rods, I just cannot cast them. Ok, I have used 12´ rods for decades but I have a beautiful 10´ rod in the shed that never gets used, I hate it! The really weird thing is I have a 9´6" spinning rod that I absolutely love! 10´ just does not fit me for some reason.
That's a nice rod you have there Westy and a good tackle test. On the subject of extended use, I notice you have been using the Korum S23 Deluxe chair for a while now. Any chance of a video with your opinion on the chair now you have had the opportunity to put it through it's paces in the field?
I don’t think I will have time to do a video on that for you, but it’s alright. It tilts forward slightly but you can fix this by putting the front legs up slightly. I believe in the new model they have fixed this issue 👌🏻🎣
The Korum is a great entry rod but it doesn’t compare to this. The quality is leaps and bounds better on the n-gauge pro. Though if I had to put it up against my Shimano speedmasters I think they would win 👌🏻🎣
Looks a great rod snaped might last weekend so looking for new one. I like the way you set your chair up did you buy it as a complete set or did you buy attachments separately
Was considering the Preston Acsension 11ft, but after this awesome test....I've changed my mind......I need the Guru instead. Great vid Matt. Nice fish !
The Acension is purely a silvers/bream rod not carp. I have a couple for natural waters. Guru ones all round because of soft and progressive action and power in the butt section 👍🏻
@christophersmith3338 Yes, I appreciate that about the Preston. I already have a decent 10ft method feeder rod which I love. I was looking for a silvers / bream rod for the cooler months. But the GURU seems to have all seasons covered with this one.
I recast every 3 mins in the summer, but the fisheries that I go have much higher stock of fish and usually you get a bite straight away. The other thing I do is stop watch and check when I’m getting bites, if my bites are every couple of mins then I will recast after couple of mins if I don’t get a bite
Lovely looking rod. The Daiwa Regal 3000 looked the part as well. You can pick one up for £36 and £125ish. for the rod...seems a good deal to me.probably get a few more beer tokens knocked off buying them as a combo.
Thanks to this vid, I'm getting one for Xmas, with either the regal or black widow. Any thoughts? Also, is the 9ft as strong as thr 10ft for playing carp to say 12lb? Cheers pal

Venture into a swim that never fished before and knowing that its going to get sun early. 37 degrees at 11am, called it a day at lunchtime and retreated to the bar for a cold one at lunchtime! Just not worth it. The guys who "stole" my swim also caught nothing!
Nice rod mate Maybe try a natural venue and fish the clip in a water where you have to earn your fish .. you could literally drop a pellet on a bomb rig and use a £20 rod and reel kit with 20lb mainline and a still bag up . Spending that much on a rod and just chucking it in the margin is not showing us the true potential of the rod only how it bends … well done on a great session though .. the rod looks great value Just love to see you fish at 40/50 meters on a venue where the fish are a bit more difficult to catch ..
Get a grip lad. What a rude comment. For a start that 10 ft rod isn’t even rated to cast that far. Westy never fishes far out at venues natural or not and always gets some stonking fish. It’s a light hearted video showing how the rod handles some nice fish. Nothing more nothing less. 🎣👌🏻
Ok guess I be been told ..just saying I’d like to see something different …not a harsh criticism and ad for getting a grip it’s rated at 40 grams and 40 to 50 meters is an easy chuck with a 28 gram hybrid And as for me buying a £20 rod and trying it myself .. nah ..you keep it and take your family to blackpool for the day you ⬆️en 🐒

We match fishermen will often re cast every two minutes for a say 10 to 20 minutes just to build the swim up with bait. Nice fish..!
Yes I will normally cast out 3/4 times quickly to build up a swim. Or hand ball some pellets/groundbait in to start a swim
