    The Focal's are really comfortable, some of the best I've had on my head. I owned the Elegia for a while too, and recently auditioned a Stellia. Will be interesting to hear what you have to say about the Stellia, especially in regard to the stage. The Stellia I thought had a very interesting stage.

    Having owned this for more than half a year now, I can attest that the bass here is not too heavy with the way it fits my head. So apparently there is big variance in bass response depending on fit of these headphones. Disclaimer, it is NOT because I’m a basshead or sth. And I drive them with Sony Zx500, which delivers great bass.

    I am so grateful for your honest reviews and because of that I bought my Cayin 6ii which you recommended and I love it. Please please can you recommend a closed back headphone to use with my Cayin 6ii. I have been recommended the Focal Stellia, but it is too expensive and I wonder if you are paying for the boxing experience. I do like the look of the Radiance but your colleague sold his and kept his Bathys (which I also have). I have a budget of about $1600. I would be grateful for your input as always.

      If the intent is to use OTG with N6ii then I still recommend Radiance. Bathys is great but it's performance ceiling compared to Radiance is way lower IMO. I also have yet to discover a closed back that puts together as complete an OTG package sonically and ergonomically as Radiance does.

    Here’s what I need to know: Does the Radiance have good tube synergy?

    wow thats a class if your transportable headphones r bentley, I love my T60rp Argon, they are not rly portable unless you have amp for it, but they have planar bass, details and are closed, I would like to see comparison T60rp Argon vs Elegia, Celestee or Radiance

    Great review. Thanks. How would you compare with the B&W P9 or campfire audio cascade?

    I need to stop I know. I just bought Clear MG for less than 900$ unused and waiting for them to arrive. They also have celestee for around 600$ and radiance for around 750$. What should I do what should I do :(

      @@rodhier2516 In Australia, the Focal hp range is on sale atm. The authorised dealer is losing Focal distribution rights, so they're clearing out their stock. They've got Utopia $2,590, Celestee $390, Radiance $450, Clear OG $515, and Elegia $215. Those prices are the US$ equivalent. I don't think I'm allowed to put up links here, but there's only one authorised Focal dealer in this country, so it won't require much sleuthing to figure out where. They only ship to Australian addresses though, so if you're overseas you'll need to arrange a parcel forward service too (like AUSFF).

    Are the radiance the best isolating closed back you've tried? I want a good isolating closed back that's not a noise cancelling one, they don't really do it for me sound wise but I'm in a noisy environment so wanting to get the best isolation I can.

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  Год назад

      Along with Stellia, yes. Focal does a good job with isolation on their closed backs. The Audeze LCD-XC is pretty good too but not nearly as OTG friendly, if that matters.

    • @wyn2208
      @wyn2208 Год назад

      @@wavetheorysound Thanks, yea I'm not worried too much about portability I mostly listen while at the PC, I'm currently using a pair of Aeon Noires, I like how they sound but the isolation isn't quite where I want it so hoping the Radiance fits the bill, some people say the Noires have good isolation but I can hear people like 10 feet away pretty clearly when they're talking at a normal volume while I have my music at a comfortable volume... I might keep an eye out for a good deal on the XC too.

    How does it sound without amp?

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  3 года назад

      You get sound. Directly off my Samsung GN8 phone it still has good timbre/tonality and a warm, bassy signature, but the subbass loses a lot of grunt, there is a lot less punch/slam, and the treble recedes a little bit. Plus, it doesn't sound nearly as clean or clear. It's still pretty good, though. If you save up to buy the Radiance it will be an upgrade form most directly from a phone. Then, you can save up later for another amp.
