Have traveled the world, from Norway to Finland, most of Europe, (but not Russia), Africa, central America and the Antarctic to watching the 6 trailer road trains in Australia. You are the best. Please keep up the good work and good videos.
Sergei. Switch Backs-Mountain roads have Switch Backs. You are truly a DRIVER . A comment you made in a previous video I will never forget! " You have to have the patients of an Angel ". Over the years I have stopped the truck and gone to the ground many times to keep from having a disaster like you were doing with that bridge. I got to the point in my career that I could give a Rats Ass what other motorists were thinking when I plugged up some narrow ass road in unfamiliar territory. 99% of the motorist in your country and mine don't have a clue what it takes to be a DRIVER!
Thanks for your videos Sergei, it's an interesting look at trucking in Nth. America. I think you would love some of our rural roads in Australia. They shake us and our trucks too bits. :)
Your right about internet enabled tablets vs gps. GPS does not know how to get to my camp. And if you drive on islands, gps thinks your riding on water half the time. At least in New England.
Hm maybe an offroad version of a УралАЗ, КрАЗ or КАМАЗ would have been a bit handier for this last part of the trip? But then again it would probably look a bit weird on a NA highway. :) nice vid
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who struggled through that canyon. I was running a hotshot through there in a rainstorm with a 30' gooseneck last year. It's a good thing you turned off towards the mine when you did, because I can tell you that you'd never be able to make through the canyon by staying on the highway. Hundred miles of narrow, blind, and tight switchbacks. I don't think that I would have made it with a 40' trailer. I call it my shortcut from hell. I stayed the night in front of that big red building in Dawes in the beginning of video. It was raining so hard that I just knew that the river was going to flood and kill us all that night. In fact, there was a massive mudslide on the interstate which you turned off of that killed a couple people just hours after I turned into the canyon, or holler as they call it.
Hi Sergei, we just watch #577, if u have the time look up Dragon Tail in NC.. I drove over that because the stupid GPS said that was the only way to go, turns out once I got to Bryson city the natives were laughing at me as well as my aunt (who lives in that God awful place) there were no guard rails and u couldn't see the bottom. People actually live there and drive it everytime they have to go to the store. your friends, Gina & Jesse
Liked your patience as you confirmed your position frequently and physically checked the bridges. Very good safety. I would have liked to see you safely roll onto the freeway! Seemed like you cut it off a little soon; regardless you were REALLY in a podunk, boondocks kind of area - beautiful but wild for a semi!
Interesting video ! lots of suspense, but didn't see a Sasquatch although I think I heard one. Regarding that iffy bridge, assuming you had cell coverage, would the DOT have any info on that bridge that would have been helpful?
That was quite amusing !..... Come on Sergei....a big tough Russian like you and you're getting worried about a little bridge...lol. It seem that in the U.S. or Canada,if you're not on a 6 lane highway it's time to start flapping ! Hahaaa.... That was a nice scenic detour Sergei...I was just waiting for another truck to come the other way,at the most difficult place.
Hi Sergei, this comment is just to suggest to you as you were asking for any suggestion on the collor for your next new Terminator 880, well, what would you think about Gold Metallic - 4059EB with black fenders and some nice designe for the sleeper, well you aksed about a light collor but I believe a collor like this will give to your Truck a great visual proportion that a big hauler need to express to everybody coming to you on the road, and to kill the reflects of the sun light when the sun is right in top of you they could ad a black matte strip on the top of the hood, well this is only a humble suggestion, but congratulations on your new Big Rig comming soon, you are the man.
yeah, I read your advice and when I shut down at a love's in ripley, wv - I asked the fuel desk girl if they expected any price rises. fuel at that point was at US$2.94 cash. the girl said on the previous day when she came in to work, fuel was selling for US$2.65 and then rose to $2.99 by the end of that day. so, I hurried up to the pump to get fuel at $2.94 cash before it rose again before the Labor Day. guess what? when I woke up on the next day (Sunday, September 3rd), the price WENT DOWN to $2.84 cash!!!! so, the lesson here is that advice is easy to give, but you gotta be careful who you take if from. enjoy your labor day, "friend" ;) I just lost US$10 bucks because of you ;)
I use EZ Pass. It's cheaper than paying cash + you save on the rate. I got my transponder at one of those rest areas on I-294 near Chicago, IL, where EZ Pass has offices.
Hello Sergei. I have the function to download parts maps from google maps onto my tablet or phone. It's called offline areas. You basically have the complete google map available except for the traffic information. Very handy whenever you don't want the roaming cost, just download the map when connected to wifi.
train engineers are afraid of truckers. they know we have a tire iron somewhere. because all of their wheels are solid steel, they don't get the iron ;) on the other hand, their air horns are louder than mine, so i try not to make them angry either ;)
Uncle Sergie, on your tablet you can switch off data and run on GPS only. This costs you nothing. To upload maps and update the system you have to go online. But you can do this where you have data for free.
Hey bud. I like watching your videos. I always had a dream to drive a big rig all over the country but I ended up working as an engineer. Holler of you happen to pass through the upstate South Carolina with an empty truck. Park it on our property and I will take you to a gun range to waste some AKM (AK47) ammo.
Why don't you try using your phone as a hotspot for the tablet. That way you only pay data charge for the phone tablet only uses secure wifi from your phone
Sergei you're a great driver, one of the best if not the best
ty Sergei you made my Sunday night god bless be safe !!!
One of your very best Sergei! love the sound of that Mack.

Amazing video and I'm only 25 min in. Love it.
Great video, Capt Sergei.
That would have made me nervous!

Really liked this one Sergei
thanks for the directions
Nice do more videos of the camera like this
Great video love that road, but it would be terrible in a wet condition i think.
One hell of ride

This is a good example to use Google maps with the aerial photography turned on.
Drive there virtually, before you drive there physically.
Your right about internet enabled tablets vs gps.

Yeah, I'm not sure I wanna go there again, especially in rainstorm or winter!

Sergei Dratchev lol
Uncle Surge, you should be used to these back roads. I have travelled these as commonplace in NZ and Africa.
When you come to U.S. do you use EZ pass for tolls or just pay cash ? Are you able to get an EZ pass in Canada that works in U.S. ???
I use EZ Pass. It's cheaper than paying cash + you save on the rate. I got my transponder at one of those rest areas on I-294 near Chicago, IL, where EZ Pass has offices.

I was on a road with corner's like that in West Virginia a few years ago and the name of the road was Cow Path Lane . lol
You go over railroad crossings pretty often and never catch a train on camera... I am waiting for that to happend some day in your video :D
train engineers are afraid of truckers. they know we have a tire iron somewhere. because all of their wheels are solid steel, they don't get the iron ;) on the other hand, their air horns are louder than mine, so i try not to make them angry either ;)

I think a little Russian song on ch.25 would have made somebody's day. A great trip to watch....maybe not to drive....
Sergei, would you give ice road hauling a shot? Just for sh**s and giggles ? Talk about a rush!!!
SERGEI HAVE YOU ever tried a Garmin GPS? I us it and find it very .accurate.
Just go for it they had to get there heavy equipment there and it's a lot heavier than you
you would make one hell of a company driver ;) that's usually the way they look at things.
Why don't you try using your phone as a hotspot for the tablet. That way you only pay data charge for the phone tablet only uses secure wifi from your phone
the phone gets too hot.
Sergei Dratchev buy an iphone then :)
+1
You have to remember that GPS and the Internet are two different systems. The internet is a land-based system where as GPS works off satellites.
extreme offroad. puts oil fields and logging in the suburban ccategory. or ..
You are running MOONSHINER road.
Unckle are u scared
