Back in the 70's I worked along side cat skinners logging building fire trails. Every so often they had to put in a water bar to drain and not wash out the trail. I would walk with him carrying a chain saw and shovel. Then rap the winch around trees because the ground was to steep to back up! I considered that an easy job when I started hooking logs the went to falling trees. Loved it but the industry went under from government policies, tarrifs ect.
That's not steep. Where I come from they have to put the oil pan on the top of the engine because we are almost upside down. The operator lays flat on his back on the floor of the cab. The guages are mounted on the roof, and there is a parachute pack mounted on top of the rippers.
Hahaha it's like that in New Zealand too. I've got boots glued to the dash and bean bags to lie on with a rope off the roof with a chin strap to hold your block.
I would've had to change my shorts. I ran heavy equipment at a copper mine for 10yrs. It would amaze me the things a cat can do in the hands of the right operator. I however hated running a cat. I definitely preferred running a grader. This guy knew what he was doing. He kept calm and didn't freak out. I ran D9 D10 and D11 so this cat is way smaller but just as scary of a ride.
I had to change mine from watching the video. I was a welder, not an operator. It used to blow my mind to see the stuff some of these guys did! In all types of equipment.
Funny it doesn’t look as steep as it is. I operate D10s and 11s. Been in this spot but not as bad cause so far not once have i started sliding with the material. And thats going right over dump faces feet on the dash. This would have had major pucker factor.
@@steveothepainterreeding9126 I have turned a couple things over in my life, and its is better to have your seatbelt on and stay put. It is highly unlikely that you could get out in time, and then you might be thrown out and crushed.
Try this on a track loader, no grousers, no cab, no seat belt and down a slick rock about that steep, stripping off for a quarry and thanks to a spring head, no load to push.
@@Flyboy207 Loader tracks have no grousers (the part that sticks up on dozer tracks for added traction) to keep from tearing the ground up so bad because you're mostly turning the machine in a loading situation. Loader pads have cross bars, usually 3 flat ones but no projections. The projections are the grousers. Loader track pads are flat compared to dozer tracks BUT you can get either type pads on either type machine IF you want.
@@Flyboy207 No problem. You can buy long lengths (10 and 20 foot usually) of regular grouser bar stock that you can cut to length and weld onto flat loader pads or shoes to make them more aggressive. And if I had a track loader with a winch and was skidding logs with it I'd sure be running grousered pads. Just saying. BLESSINGS 2 U!
job was repairing a slip its all mud on solid rock we had to use winches to work after the first day its 1to1 slope no would could drage logs or take a scaper down this hill side you would be killed you cant tell how steep or how slick the mud is in this video and its abotu 300 foot to the bottom so please all you youtube experts stop talking stupid shit
I don't bother taking videos of shit like this anymore. Its never does it justice. The slope are always far worse than they look on video. But an operator can see how steep that was. When the machine nose over near the bottom that was a bit of a give away.
That looks like a fun job site, good thing she stayed straight, if that dozer decided to kick sideways that enough to pucker the butt of any operator, lol
He had to overcome any fear to drive the last bit where the back was beginning to lift , you need bones in your poo & a good reason to be on a slope like that .
Tough way to go at it. Happy it is you and not me riding that down the hill. Don't see how you can get much done. Certainly aren't going back up that slope. Do you load up and go back to the top and do it again?
notice the tracks arent turning but the dozer is moving with just the wiggle of the blade thats mud on solid rock only thing keeping the dozer from taking off at high speed is the mud infront of the blade

*skidders*
Cameras never do justice lol that’s pretty gnarly I couldn’t imagine it in person
a well controlled descent. Great operator.

I haven’t been to P.A. In forever. 😂
It was simply his giant balls dragging him down the hill. LOL
0:56 thought it was going over ...
Got a little lite there at the end.

nice work.
Love the Chanell Name.
Dont ever pick that blade up until you are in a good spot . That lose stuff is bad stuff
And they say crabbing is the most dangerous job.
skilled operator! (big balls powah)
He was a thread away from death!
well done!
He knows it well
This why these machines were created
Nice 👍

I’m confused, if you’ve got no grousers you’ve got no tracks?

Lewie McNeely I was always under the impression that the grousers were the entire piece bolted to the track. I see what you mean now.

En estos terrenos, se deben de cargar los desgarradores en la parte trasera, pues ayudan a frenar la oruga.
There's no rippers he's got a winch line holding him
That's steep, we do it every day loggin in eastern Kentucky
Hazard? Harlan?
The fuck do you people in Kentucky know about mountains😂😂
im in eastern ky too
@@irishsavage8715 No need to get nasty. I live in the west and know about mountains. Your comment was uncalled for.

Time for an underwear change at the bottom.

near the bottom probbly closer to 1: 1
peace of cake there are operaters wanna be's and never will be's. been there done that burnt the teashirt.
But can it crawl back up? Lol Operator has skills.....
No, not the way ot came down.
Dangerous
Why?
making a living its a slip on the side of the mountian caused by mining activty above law says it must be repaired i do it for the money

Has a winch but won't use it ...
We used the hell outta winches on this job
I guess none of you saw the winch and wire rope off the back of the dozer huh? The controlled descent was all due to that.
damn
Hes pushing, not sliding
