i’d like to imagine this is a davesprite theme, the guy had to carry a lot of regret and guilt with him when he fixed the timeline, leaving his rose to an unknown fate, and being considered “not the real dave” by all of his friends he was wanting to see and talk to again so desperately.
That's certainly poetic... Maybe each Knight falls due to a lack of their aspect... Dave ran out of time, but what would be the case for a Knight of Light? Did i run out of luck?
Literate Terrarian Ah, Knight of Light. A common Knight Aspect, actually. No, not that. It's a bit more complex than Dave's, usually, although Dave's character arc was very straightforward. A Knight of Light would, eventually, find themselves trapped in a wall of their own creation; a wall of knowledge. They would be unable to tell what is truth from what is fiction; kind of like finding yourself in a suddenly different world, a Knight of Light would most likely be transported into Sburb and dropped onto their head. They'd be drastically overwhelmed by the new definition of truth in the game, but would hide it behind a shield of knowledge. They would attempt to act like they know what's going on, but in reality, they would be just as unknowing, or even less in-the-know than their fellow players. Eventually, like all Knights, this would blow up in their face. They'd most likely curse themselves for not knowing these things, and would become insecure in their own knowledge. However, once they begin their own Land Quest, they would most likely learn more about Sburb and Paradox Space that way. Before they god-tier, the Knight of Light would, I think, begin to question their own insecurities; perhaps a friend is truly moved by their knowledge, or their knowledge leads to an advantage on their side or even saving someone's life. While god-tiered, a Knight of Light would act like the purveyor of their Aspect. The Knight would be knowledgeable on current events within the session, and would also most likely be acting upon them already. They would be confident in their logic, and others would look to them for guidance; like how a religious person would look to the light of God for guidance. However, unlike a Mage, the Knight does not "understand" Light as much as he simply... uses it. It is hard to explain, but the "knowledge" of the Knight may be more of a feeling of what is right, rather than them knowing it is. It is going off of a gut feeling, and this is why, at first, the Knight is not confident in it. They second-guess that gut feeling, thinking "what if this is wrong? What if I'm wrong?" It plunges them, understandably, into a dark place; Void, in this interpretation. And with that, my analyzation of the Knight of Light is over. Your thoughts?
So calm, so relaxing... This song to me, it's comfort for a mistake. Dave made so many mistakes in his life, even in the doomed timeline, and these mistakes, these misdeeds, they drag him down. He can't hold this weight forever by himself. It will fall.
this song sort of represents the regret that davesprite would have for leaving his rose to die, and all the times dave in general failed and lost the game or failed to save someone. as a knight things for them are hard to understand and they hold a lot of greif and weight on their shoulders this song realy showes that in a slow sad remorseful way, taking a moment to show how much of a complex and "round" charecter dave really is, this is also my fav song besides heir of greif and suburban jungle such a good theme!!
i dont think the title "fallen" was supposed to mean "fallen in battle" in a negative way. we fall lots of times in our lives, sometimes its funny, other times its painful and sometimes its just necessary. personally, i listen to this song every night that i can as i get ready to sleep. falling into that slumber. being fallen doesnt mean defeated or broken. it just means that you aren't trying at the moment. and sometimes thats okay. take a moment to be fallen with this playing. let whatever it means to you fill your thoughts. maybe it means the end of a struggle, or times long forgotten. or maybe it really does sound broken and defeated like the name "fallen" would make you think. whatever it means to you, embrace it. fall for a moment with this song to escape having to try for just a moment, even if it really is only a moment

I'm sorry for the necro but you helped me see this song in a new light after it being in one of my playlists for so long. And for any who see this comment falling (or failing if you look at it that way) never has to be the end. Remember in every game where you can fall there's always an option to continue. To pick up the pieces and try again. I'm listening to this very late at night, alone in a spacious home, working on a mindless task, with my littlest cat cuddled up in my lap. It's...almost too peaceful to be true.
I have no idea why, but this intensely reminds me of the Baptist Church I used to go to in my childhood, last time I was there I think I was 6 or 7, maybe 8 at most.. but I vividly remember the room the kids would play in, and the field that had a bit of blueish mist over it, and many various white baby flowers sprouted everywhere. I remember the warm woodwork of their establishments were particularly impressive and detailed.. but I remember I could never go to the "important" rooms.. Years later, when listening to the Risk of Rain OST, my mind was drawn back to this song because some of the songs use the same soundfont as was used in this song. This song is just so formative for me, even now I get flashes of it when playing Risk of Rain.
This has a sort of steven universe kind of vibe! I can imagine Karkat and Dave apologizing to each other after a fight of some sort. Or Rose mourning over the death of Kanaya if she somehow is culled. Maybe even Terezi remembering all the things she's done over the timelines and sweeps! Gosh there are a lot of things I see that go with this.
