I've had mine for 4 years now ' got it for $1643.00 New and free shipping. Mine came with a gig bag and legs They even threw in a slide bar and picks for free. I've played mine on hundreds of #1 Hits ' Have also toured The world with it and played with every major recording country music star in the business, it's a great sounding guitar and for no more than I gave for it I'm very pleased with it's preformance and would recommend it.
Mind you , when I evaluate this Rouge instrument , I use a 60's Fender Lap Steel as the ' Bar ' which would cost hundreds of $'s . $79.99 + free shipping is an exceptional price for the quality you get here . A beautiful finish . The hardware is of very good quality . No complaints at all on the electronics . I recorded with my Rouge and the sound quality was very good . It is a very short scale , and that's not so good but useable . Super nice gigbag . The legs are next to worthless . Legs not long enough and very flimsy . But alas : find a vintage set of Fender Champ legs and mounts , and the mounts fit beautifully with very little chamfering . And now you've got a winner . A very nice small steel guitar for the money . A +++++ Rouge
Rouge Fine Instruments are a good way way to start in learning an instrument. If you decide you don't really care for the instrument you're not out of a lot of money. After that you can decide if spending more money is warranted.
I totally agree! If you can learn to play well on a cheap instrument you will really enjoy a higher quality one. This does the trick, though. I have been very happy with it.
Hiya from 2022. I have a black one on the way. Still $79.99 when on sale. Best bang for the buck to start out with from what I've seen and read. Guess the legs are crap, but it is called a Lap Guitar, hehe.
I just bought one and it didn't come with any kind of manual. As a beginner not knowing what tuning to use or if I can tune to open G without changing strings it came with is frustrating as hell.
@@weaktearecords of course my 😘 cal music store sold me that book and said to forget C6 tuning, too complicated for beginners. So now I just need them to put different strings on it so I can tune to D or G still with no clue since I have zero musical knowledge. Hey but I can make weird sounds ,lol.
They're nice guitars they need only one thing take that single coil pickup off and put a humbucker pickup on there put some flat round strings turn it to C6 tuning you won't believe what you're hearing I have a rondo music 🎵 eight string lap steel I had the single coil tooken off and put a humbug pick up on my guitar and flat round strings and tune to C6 tuning you won't believe what you're hearing that's what them guitars need but Roku guitars is a nice steel for the money 💰 just got to change a pickup
It's not too bad. It is single coil so it's got a bright sound and a slight buzz when your hand is not grounding the guitar, but you can rest your palm comfortably on the pick guard and quiet the ground hum. If you use it with a volume pedal it is silent when off. Plus usually you add reverb and fuzz. I have been very impressed with it, especially for the price.
I can't get my legs to screw into the three bottom ports. I unscrewed one and was able to thread a leg into that way. Now I have to use the four screws to reattach the port back to the body. I wonder if this is suppose to be done this way because they ship it that way or am I coming up with something that really does need to be done? The legs refuse to screw in to the ports the way they come.
@@weaktearecords I was eventually able to get the legs in. Reversing the ports with the four screws is not necessary. Maybe the burrs is the problem. I just bought this from seller who never bothered to unwrap the legs. They're in and the thing is upright so I'm past that hurdle.
There's not much info that comes with it, most people say C6 tuning, but I couldn't wrap my head around that too well (since I am a regular guitarist) so I use DADGAD or DADF#AD. I even use EADGBE since I know those chord shapes. I however, am not very good at lap steel, so.... check RUclips. I also just put some light gauged strings on it instead of the ones that came with it, they're only a few bucks for a set and they're way better than what comes with it.
I bought one of these, in red. I hate it. The tuners suck, the strings that came on it were trash, restringing it is a botch, the nut is plastic and broke off where the low string runs through it and, other than the cheap price, I can see no redeeming qualities. It did, however, show me that I want a real lap steel, so I'll save some up some beer money and buy a used one from somewheres.
That's a pretty rough review. Maybe you got a bad one because mine does pretty well. It gets me by for what I need, but I'm sure there's better ones. For crying out loud, it was less than 100 bucks, what do you expect? It's worth way more than that!
The strings were crappy, I agree. Still, a set of good guitar strings is less than 10 bucks. I didn't find it any harder to string than most electric guitars.
It's pretty good, it plays like a single coil guitar - not a ton of body, but clean and solid. It's doesn't have a lot of noise, but like all electrics it's grounded through the metals so you have to touch it to keep away buzz. I assume that most players throw some effects on their lap steel anyway so that would give it more body. I like it.

First time here. Thanks for sharing. I am new to the steel guitar and just purchased this RLS1. The video and comments were all highly informative.

Thanks, I thought it was a good opportunity to show it to others

Mine work well, but some people seem to be cross threading them. It's sturdy enough for me.
I love the red finish!
It is pretty, it even has a bit of metallic to it.
That is pretty sweet!

Agreed, but the internet is pretty helpful, more helpful than a crappy Mel Bay beginner book! 😊

That's a good idea, it would make it quieter that way.
Hi I'm Brajo. I'm keen to buy one piece. Could you please help me. What would be the price in INR
Cheap.
Please, does it hum ? Single coil, right ?

Хорошая бадура! Но вот гнездо под штекер надо бы было сделать по горизонтали.
Так было бы лучше. Тем не менее, это хорошо для дешевого инструмента
Linda!
It really is.
Sir wat is the price of this steel guitar
I paid $70 (U.S.)
I'll bet he loses the allen wrench the first day....🤣🤣

E como fazer para comprar?

The same than Harley Benton?
Probably not.
what tuning is recommended for the strings that come on it
