These are very cold hardy when dormant BUT the young spring growth is easily damaged by unusually late frosts which has happened for the 2 previous years but we’ve escaped this year 🎉
No the problem is we don't get very cold winters ( except this year ! ) and we often get some mild weather in March which fools the plants into waking up, unfortunately in April and even May we can get an arctic air blast come down from the North which suddenly brings a couple of nights frosts and causes all the damage 🙄. I should be safe now this year as the South East of the UK normally avoids that in May 🤞
It's looking good at the moment Brett. Hopefully, you get to try some of the fruits (or whatever they are classed as botanically lol) eventually. Your neighbours always seem to be cutting the grass, they have a huge lawn too lol. Or maybe they do it on purpose because they see you are filming 😂
Haha actually I probably filmed several videos on the same day while they were cutting the grass. It’s bigger than my lawn of course as I’ve got all my trees standing to one side whereas they just have grass 😂. I think the ‘fruits’ are simply like chewing on semi hard stems, maybe like liquorice wood if you’ve ever chewed that ?
@@lyonheart84 Lol, my neighbours on one side just have grass and nothing else, their garden is similar in size to mine. And on the other side they have just artificial grass, so no lawn mowing from them lol. Just as well really as their garden is probably 2 - 3 times the size of mine so they'd be mowing nonstop too 😂😂
I’m not keep on artificial grass. It’s ok for 3 or 4 years then it can start to fade and have weeds come up through it which can be a pain in the butt to deal with. I think I’d rather my small lawn even although it can be a pain at times 😂
Hey Friend! 😊Thank you!👍
Thanks for saying hello 👍
I noticed the same with ours! Strange given how so many other things were impacted by the temperature fluctuations and pretty low temps.

@@lyonheart84 ah yeah, I wonder if they have a different mechanism for deciding when to wake up. Maybe time instead of temperature.

@@lyonheart84 Yeah, I'm not keen on artificial grass either. They have to hoover up debris sometimes which does look quite amusing 😂
😂😂
Mine is growing really slow!
Yes I think they are slow but at least mine hasn’t been ruined by frost this year 🤞
@@lyonheart84 maybe it will take off this year!
Mine is 4 years in ground and just now getting bigger!
Funny how some trees need 3 or 4 years in ground to get going. I guess mine will always be slow growing in a pot 🤪🤪
@@lyonheart84 I'm just ready to taste some frui!
Lol you mean chew on some stems 😉😉😂😂
