It's not that Vanya's are more powerful. It's that they're more Raw. You have to remember that at the age of four her father started drugging her, and everything was just kind of numb. So now she's feeling all these feelings, with no experience on how to control them. Essentially she is reacting the way a child would, because she has no more experience with regulating her feelings then a child would
i think it was more difficult for vanya to believe allison seeing as she was never showed love as a child, so when she thinks she finally has it its not gonna be easy to accept that he's been lying to her
TUA is one of the only shows where I have to admit every single main character has it the worst. NONE of the Hargreeves siblings escaped without some deep-seated trauma/psychological issues And they can't even heal together as a family because none of them can recognize their siblings' issues, since they were all messed up in such different ways They all tell Luther to get over it. They don't understand Diego gets mean when he feels emotionally overwhelmed They don't know Klaus gets high because he can't turn off gks powers/the ghost scare him They think Vanya had it easy because she wasn't forced to train/crime-fight & they can't acknowledge that being outcast was just as bad for her They're all so isolated, even when they're together
So Vanya was neglected, made to believe she wasn’t special, and as a result felt cut off from her siblings and removed from her family. They never had her back or her best interests. So someone who’s completely devoid of love is going to find it in the first person that offers it.
I don’t think Vanya is insane, just years behind on mastering her powers. Hargreeves had set methods to train everyone and didn’t take into account that every child has different needs and that the children he’s responsible for are different power levels. Once it got too hard, he just gave up which put Vanya at the disadvantage.
also the fact she was on medication that numbed her feelings for 20+ years, so she's literally experiencing emotions for the first time ever. and her powers are tied to her emotions, so imagine having one of angry tantrums you have when you're a kid and don't know how to handle feelings except you're grown up and also have deadly super powers.
@@tabaxi Also, when you suddenly stop taking medication that affects your brain chemistry, such as anti-depressants, etc. you are likely to be overwhelmed by the sudden rush of emotions that come flooding back - which is why every doctor is very clear, that you need to consult with them, if you intend to stop taking your medication - in some cases it is necessary to wean yourself off the medication over several months with gradually smaller doses, to avoid just this kind of emotional volatility (or other side effects).

Vanya's character arc is basically stretching from one extremity - that of self doubt, numbness and timidity to another - that of anger and rage. From her viewpoint, she's lost several years to the lie that she wasn't special - it not only affected her life and its trajectory, it excluded her from the family. Hargreaves is really to be blamed for this - but what with Leonard's wayward guidance and her siblings negligence towards her in general - she was easily provoked into believing that they were the real problem. Allison tried her best to fix this - but Vanya reacted explosively because she had been supressing her actual emotions since her childhood. It doesn't justify what she did, but the flashbacks from this episode helped us understand why she would lose control when she was in a rage. Plus, she doesn't know how to keep her powers in check because she just discovered them.
6:56 Klaus pulling out a chair for Ben & serving him a cup of coffee is so cute! We constantly see Klaus preform these small acts for Ben (such as holding Vanya's book out so Ben can read over his shoulder, ask if Ben wants waffles, putting a cushion on the floor for Ben to sit) despite Ben being a ghost who can't eat or feel. Great reaction. This show definitely has a slow build but it definitely picks up in seasons 2 and 3. Even though Vanya did go insane in this scene, I still don't think the dad should have done that. Of course, she can't control her power because she never got the chance to use it and master it. The other kids on the other hand grew up with their power and have been using it ever since. Vanya has always seen herself as ordinary and everyone kind of reminded her of that. Can you imagine being locked away from everyone, always on your own, while constantly being reminded you're ordinary, of course she's going to lash out and not see things clearly. You can see in the end, she didn't mean to hurt Allison, her emotions got the better of her. I think the dad didn't take the time to train her and just decided it was best to suppress her powers instead of giving her a real chance of mastering them and being a part of their group. He messed her up. Still, give Vanya a chance, I really like her character. You can see she has always been lonely and is in need of love and attention. I agree with Cameron, I'm kind of mad that Pogo didn't speak up sooner. If he would have said something to Vanya before he could have prevented what happened to Allison. I think he was right for suppressing her powers but that’s not all he did. He also supressed her as a person which i think also contributed to what has led to how she became
Yea, I don't think repressing her powers was the right way to go. You could say that it was for the greater good by preventing destruction before it occurs but in any situation repressing feelings/powers never helps with progress. Just like any other situation ignoring it's existence and not dealing with it not only caused her trauma (her powers are literally a center piece of who and what she is, I don't think it's right for anyone to take that away) & it only accumulated the problem to become far worse. Not only could she have possibly learned to control it & become more cautious to her own life/actions but it would've prevented any resentment that lead her to this point.

He shouldn't have suppressed her powers or her emotions - after the way her siblings treated her, wasn't it weird how she never acted out, got angry, called them out on their behaviour? She was basically numb to her own emotions. Leonard manipulated her into finding her powers - and she obviously didn't know how to control them because she didn't know she had them. She lost control with Allison- and then Luther pushed her into an outright rage against everyone. I blame Hargreaves, then Luther, then Deigo. Of all the characters in the Umbrella academy, these three always treated her horribly.
First of all love your reactions. Also as someone who has been on mood stabilizers for the majority of my life, going off your meds can be extremely difficult both physically and emotionally. That is why when your going off you are usually slowly taken off little doses at a time. Now if you’ve had childhood trama, abandonment issues as Vanya seems to have. She is going to latch on to the one person who gives her the attention she’d been lacking. That doesn’t always end will as many people end up in bad manipulative relationships, and the mind will try and justify any domestic violence, manipulation so that they are not abandoned again.
Here's the thing, if Reginald had not done to Vanya what he did, then this wouldn't be happening. Reginald was too impatient. Not to mention her siblings rejecting her the entirety of her life, childhood to present. Also, the reason she trusts Leonard so much, and loves him is because she thinks he's the only one to find her special, the only one to actually care about her. He's the only one to show her any respect, regardless of it all being a scam.
Did you know that in the beginning of the episode during Alison talking to Claire about the story book the song Stormy Weather(cover) is playing which this version I sung by Emmy Raver Lampman who plays Alison.
Your emotions being suppressed for what 25 years is pretty heavy. Like the moment she got off the meds it was like a dam breaking open with all the emotions just pouring out of her uncontrollably. Add the neglect of the father and her siblings to it making her feel like not being a part of anything, you have a person who will accept anyones love the moment they show the smallest bit of attention. If Reginald would have trained her the way he trained all of the other kids she would not be a danger to anyone. She would be able to control her emotions and powers like the rest of them.
Season 2 is the best of all 3 in my opinion the twists and turns are crazy. Season 3 is more laid back and less chaotic then the other two but, I was still invested and y'all will be too. Can't wait for episode 10!!
In Vanya’s defense tho… Allison could’ve told her this at any time to break the rumor spell. She was going to let her go her whole life thinking she wasn’t good enough to be a member of the family and even her own fam bullied her constantly because of it. Allison didn’t do shit up until this point where they’re like in their 30s or whatever
Vanya doesn’t see through his creepy crap because she’s been so deprived of attention and love for so long that once someone is actually giving it to her like he is she’s blind to pretty much anything else. Vanya was never my favorite character, I didn’t really like her but aside from that spending so many years without her power it just compounded and once you pop the cork on that bottle it’s a flood which drives her kinda crazy. And like no one in her family helps really they just make it worse.
but whose to say that if he taught her the same way as the others she wouldnt have become insane she became unhinge and easy to manipulate because she was stuck in that room and her family turned on her it could have all been avoided but the dad was so scared of her that he locked her up instead which was the wrong move
Exactly, and forced her on meds that dampened her emotions. Then leonard forced her to stop taking them cold turkey, which is a big No-No for mood stabilizers. Their father could have easily had Allison user her ability to help vanya get control over her emotions. The fact that so many people defend that choice is sickening.
@@cisco5753 i understand their dad being scared thats fine but if you locked a rabid dog in a cage it is going to attack like in star wars yoda said from the very beginning he was afraid of anakins training which caused them to not trust them which eventually turned him to the darkside and destroyed them if they had trusted him and helped him progress the empire never would have existed there is probably a ton of other media like that and most serial killer stories like that point is if someone that can potentually be a threat and you turn your back on them and not try to help them would be a bad idea atleast thats my opinion please let me know what you think
@@JustUs but you guys doing what he did with allison trying to get her to lead a normal life was wrong to because if he taught her to manage her emotions and control her powers like everyone else this wouldnt be happening because now she is reaction like a little kid would who is experiancing emotions for the first time who has powerful superpowers
vanya isn't insane. its just finding out all those years of abuse and being told you were ordinary when you weren't. treated badly from your whole family, never having experienced love. then once the first person shows you love you're being told he's evil and its not real. not only that, she's never been able to properly feel her emotions and control them due to the drugging and she hasn't been able to harness her power, which becomes more powerful the bigger her emotions get. reginald was not right at all to shield her from her power, if he had trained her from the start like her other siblings it never would have got to this. he is fully at fault for everything that has happened and will happen. so no she's not weak or insane. nathan understands the characters the most.
@@majeda_a obviously she did because she just told Vanya what happened. Allison probably didn’t understand what she was being asked to do because of her age and most likely only did it out of love for and fear of her father figure. I’m not casting any aspersions on her character and don’t really think my comment deserved the energy you brought in your reply. If it wasn’t meant for me, then I apologize for assuming. 19:36 its ok, Nathan, I _also_ thought Vanya was simply nullifying Allison's rumor with her own powers the first time I saw ep8 (until I saw the blood)
Alyson should’ve talked it out instead of manipulating how she did before like why’d she think abusing and manipulating her after confessing that you did years ago was gonna fix things

I hate luther's character with a passion, not only for the incest. But in the bar 5 and Klaus tell him that Vanya is alone with a convicted killer, who is obsessed with them....and he couldn't care less. But as soon as Allison is mentioned he immediately jumps up. His character is disgusting and honestly, wish he stayed on the moon. And of course Vanya is going to be a bit crazy, she was drugged and had her emotions DAMPENED SINCE 4 YEARS OLD. Of course her emotions will be all over the place, Leonard/Harold stopped her COLD TURKEY stopping certain meds like that can cause multiple problems. The dad could have had Allison use her power to help Vanya control her emotions... but he didnt. He emotionally and psychologically abused and tormented her, HER ENTIRE LIFE. I will not stand for any Vanya slander...
Cause the dads a Dick! He could have had Allison use her powers to help Vanya get a handle on her powers. Instead he psychologically and physically(by drugging) abused her. She was forced into taking mood stabilizers her ENTIRE life, then also forced to stop COLD TURKEY. Mood stabilizers need to be weaned off slowly, because the adverse effects are disastrous. Especially to a being whose power is fueled by emotion, then forced to feel every ounce of emotion hit her like a freight train. Vanya NEVER deserved to be locked up and ABUSED.
Also, We have to consider Vanya has been repressed emotionally since 4 or 5. So now that she's off her meds, cold turkey, It's almost as if she's emotionally making up for all the time lost, and it's manifesting through her powers twice as bad because She literally doesn't know how to deal with it.
Exactly, reactors almost ALWAYS gloss over that fact. But to be fair to them, there are alot of complex characters, motivations, as well as concepts in this show that can lead to a bit of confusion.
There's also the fact that we could see her be visibly upset at her family's treatment of her _even with the meds_ Of course she was going to explode during the first confrontation she had since being forced off them, especially when it's about such a delicate subject
Tbh, all the siblings use their powers on each other at some point Diego cuts Luther during their fight in ep1 Luther chokes Klaus/tosses him across the room in ep7 & he [REDACTED] in ep9 Vanya * gestures at ep8-10* Ben does something fucked up in s2 But at least _here_ it is understandable. Exactly, someone else who understands! Most reactors completely gloss over that fact and immediately begin the Vanya hate train.
i wish more reactors had the critical thinking skills that you do lol you’re so right
the utter shock at the end was sooooo worth it. it builds!
We told you keep watching the show just gets better and better 😏
Told yall this show is great😅it just starts a bit slow, it only gets better from here and in my opinion S2 is even better!
The fact that Five drives like an old man 🤣🤣
Once you get past those first few episodes, this show is great! I’ve seen the whole thing and it just gets better and better.
i mean it's great from the beginning but yes
I was hooked from episode 1 tbh
6:22 the way everyone looked over to him in disgust 😂😂😂
I need a Cluedo game. It was Vanya Hargrave, in the Cottage, with the Violin Bow.
Love these reactions! I'm already anticipating season 2. It's even better than season 1. ☺️
Did you know that in the beginning of the episode during Alison talking to Claire about the story book the song Stormy Weather(cover) is playing which this version I sung by Emmy Raver Lampman who plays Alison.
It’s sound waves her power
Davion using JustUs as a brand to create opportunities.
I think the reason the dad really put Vanya on the pills cause he seen he couldn't control and manipulate her like the others
Was waiting for your reaction to this episode❤ this show just gets crazier and more amazing. Your reaction at 19:26 was literally me!!!
She would be able to control her emotions and powers like the rest of them.
ahhhg i loved the way u guys reacted, you’re NOT ready for what’s coming
To be fair Vanya whole world got turned upside down no excuse but can understand why she reacted the way she did
this is just season 1 wait till season 3 its like crazyyyyyyyy
I am so excited for season 2!
ooo been waiting all day for this drop!!🥳🥳
davion is right on his theory
i’ve been waiting for this one
Ngl, Davion, that would be such a cool (and gut-wrenching) way for this show to reveal a death!
and season 2 only gets better
Season 2 and 3 are even better!
It just gets better and better from here....... enjoy the ride.
WE'RE GETTING A SEASON 4!!!! which is the final season!
These episodes got me hyped like the teen wolf and cobra kai ones!... btw please react to SHAMELESS
I always thought the "I heard a rumour you loved me" was directed at Luther, not Patrick (then again, I have no idea)
Cameron is right. The show is definitely a slow build and I almost gave up on it but then I held on and it was worth it in the end.
I can't wait for yall to watch Season 2!!
You guys can change the mic colors to just cycle blue and yellow to match the channel colors.
Can’t wait for season 2 reactions especially for the twins it’s really gonna be hitter after hitter. And y’all gonna need tissues
The next show you guys react to should be DC titans it’s rlly good if your into those types of shows :)
but whose to say that if he taught her the same way as the others she wouldnt have become insane she became unhinge and easy to manipulate because she was stuck in that room and her family turned on her it could have all been avoided but the dad was so scared of her that he locked her up instead which was the wrong move
@@cisco5753 i understand their dad being scared thats fine but if you locked a rabid dog in a cage it is going to attack like in star wars yoda said from the very beginning he was afraid of anakins training which caused them to not trust them which eventually turned him to the darkside and destroyed them if they had trusted him and helped him progress the empire never would have existed there is probably a ton of other media like that and most serial killer stories like that point is if someone that can potentually be a threat and you turn your back on them and not try to help them would be a bad idea atleast thats my opinion please let me know what you think
no one here is saying we agree with the dad doing all that like locking her in a cage and just forgetting her existence
Who was a worse dad(papa from stranger things) or the dad from umbrella academy
Papa from ST
@@Chrissybrit43no way reginald
@@majeda_a we’ll agree to disagree.
vanya isn't insane. its just finding out all those years of abuse and being told you were ordinary when you weren't. treated badly from your whole family, never having experienced love. then once the first person shows you love you're being told he's evil and its not real. not only that, she's never been able to properly feel her emotions and control them due to the drugging and she hasn't been able to harness her power, which becomes more powerful the bigger her emotions get. reginald was not right at all to shield her from her power, if he had trained her from the start like her other siblings it never would have got to this. he is fully at fault for everything that has happened and will happen. so no she's not weak or insane. nathan understands the characters the most.
13:56 Vanya has deep-seated abandonment issues )=
I think Myles would be happiest if Leonard was the one who killed Allison …
Edit: Argent that is
It glad i’m not the only one that hated Vanya after that.
I can see Allison not being at fault when they were little kids, but once they were adults Allison could have come clean.
she said she didn't remember/never understood what it was for like, it WASN'T done out of the malice of a 4yo lmao
she was fucking 4 years old do you remember anything you did at that age?
@@majeda_a obviously she did because she just told Vanya what happened. Allison probably didn’t understand what she was being asked to do because of her age and most likely only did it out of love for and fear of her father figure. I’m not casting any aspersions on her character and don’t really think my comment deserved the energy you brought in your reply. If it wasn’t meant for me, then I apologize for assuming.
Edit: Oh and I do remember something from around that age, because it was traumatic … I burned my butt on a metal slide when my dad allowed me to go on in only my diaper. Don’t remember how old I was but I know I moved by the time I was three so it was before that.
I don't think Allison realized Vanya had powers. The act of her rumoring Vanya wasn't memorable, so she only really recalled it once Vanya's actions jogged her memory
Leonard is getting sloppy in his manipulations!
Though I guess he never planned for his murder spree to cost him an eye
19:36 its ok, Nathan, I _also_ thought Vanya was simply nullifying Allison's rumor with her own powers the first time I saw ep8 (until I saw the blood)
leonard manipulated her. you can't call someone weak for being manipulated, brainwashed and being loved for the first time.
they literally blame everyone but the man. its annoying
Alyson should’ve talked it out instead of manipulating how she did before like why’d she think abusing and manipulating her after confessing that you did years ago was gonna fix things
She wasn't really thinking at all because Vanya was literally screaming at her like a crazy person she's not in the sane mind to listen to what she's saying
@@pinkiepiereincarnate2291 vanya isn’t crazy just emotional imagine finding out u had powers and ur very own sister abuse her with her power. Vanya is justified in her feelings
She was trying to talk to her Vanya wasn’t listening and started using her powers.
@@princess_pinkxoxo2028 so your saying manipulating/abusing someone because they aren’t listening to you is a justified action? Alyson abuses her power to get wat she wants but she shouldn’t have used that to go against free will.
@@aril9465 No I said Vanya started using her powers first. Which she did
If they think vanya ia insane in episode 8
Episode 9 amd 10 is far worse🤣
🥇🦉
They’ll explain why he locked her in there
Cause the dads a Dick!
@@cisco5753 well it’s clear you didn’t watch the show. Instead of trying to look good and “smart”, maybe you should watch it and find out why.
@@Howard0Chris why do you say that he hasn't watched the show
That man did terrible things to those children he was no father, which intern kind of produced sucky adults
Also, We have to consider Vanya has been repressed emotionally since 4 or 5. So now that she's off her meds, cold turkey, It's almost as if she's emotionally making up for all the time lost, and it's manifesting through her powers twice as bad because She literally doesn't know how to deal with it.
Yup and I totally forgot about the cold turkey part of her being off her meds.
Exactly, reactors almost ALWAYS gloss over that fact. But to be fair to them, there are alot of complex characters, motivations, as well as concepts in this show that can lead to a bit of confusion.
There's also the fact that we could see her be visibly upset at her family's treatment of her _even with the meds_
Of course she was going to explode during the first confrontation she had since being forced off them, especially when it's about such a delicate subject
!!!
Day 36 waiting for y'all to watch arcane
react to Wendesday next
First
I'm first Sorry 😅
@@SpicyBread. nahhhh
@@SpicyBread. well it says we made it at the same time
I don't like Allison, she used her powers on her family and she was about to do it again!
With Patrick and her daughter yes I agree that’s fucked up but with vanya both times it’s kinda understandable.
Tbh, all the siblings use their powers on each other at some point
Diego cuts Luther during their fight in ep1
Luther chokes Klaus/tosses him across the room in ep7 & he [REDACTED] in ep9
Vanya * gestures at ep8-10*
Ben does something fucked up in s2
But at least _here_ it is understandable. Vanya was getting very worked up & Harold _ends the world_
7 billion people were counting on Allison to get her sister out of there
the lakers cant win a fkin game so im here you should definitely react to money heist next , who cares ab popularity of right now youll still attract the fandom which exists now but yeah watch it its really good its up there with stranger things
Could you please react to wednesday
No way people like vanya such an annoying character bru
Alison literally was Mind Controlling her 'husband' by forcing him to love her...she literally became the Kilgrave of this universe...that's fucked up and disgusting.
I agree, but somehow its okay since she's a woman. And yes, someone actually tried telling me that on another channel....like what?
Yep, that's similar to Kilgrave's actions
Where’s supernatural reaction ? I think the fans deserve two episodes of it since it’s late ? Please ? Lol jk…. Unless you want to
Humans are social creatures.
Being alone for 4 years, that's roughly 1460 days.
