    I’m 74 and I remember neighbours looking out for and helping each other. Today the farms are larger,each farm has all their own equipment so each farmer is more independent. The Amish and you living among them have retained that same neighbourly way of life. Good to see.

    What a great gift in this situation. I sure the new neighbors loved seeing it, moving is hectic enough they didn't have too worry about getting the horses fed while settling in.

    My father was a tractor man, but we also had horses when I was a kid, for riding. The thing I miss most about it is the neighborliness of farming; I'd love to get back to that life one day--but this time, no tractors, please. Thank you for a wonderful video! you two rock.

      Yes that is a great manifestation i really love a life like this! my late dad was a ranch owner with farm but pity me! i did not show much interest till the farm is down. i love my work.

    Since our winters are fairly cold I used to cut a few extra cord of firewood each year to give out as Christmas gifts. Practical gifts like that are always appreciated. Have a good one.

    iv never seen silos with tops like those before i just found your videos and enjoy how you guys do all this work on your own if i werent so old id see if jim could teach me all this just to learn it .

      Yes splendid gift for them. Lol this corona thing is created to live with us the is no way this can be lifted. it came to stay with us just like other pandemics. all you need is to eat good and take good care of your self protect your self.

    I loved the bounce bale. As soon as I saw that I thought he knows how to throw hay. I remember stukking hay,piling on the wagon and stacking in the mow. You learn quickly how to throw hay.
    The Shetlers you say. Northern new York
    sounds like Huevelton area and likely grandchildren or great grandchildren to Ben Shetler who I remember from the Chesley Ontario area. Ben was a very fine man. My wife and I looked him up in 03 or 04. We had a nice visit with him in his harness shop. We later heard he passed away a month or so later.

    Amish usually get married in November after the crops are all in. Always like a woman the can handle a bale of hay or straw. Worth keeping

      Working Horses With Jim Also, I love to draw and paint horses since I was a little girl in the early 1950s, plus read novels about horses and watch TV series and movies about them. Hildago is top of the list, plus My Friend Flicka, Thunderhead, and Green Grass of Wyoming. The Amish, of course, have such a rich horse tradtion.🙋🏼‍♀️

      kendrick goad We are doing ok. Not as much Covid 19 here as in more populated states, thank goodness. I lived Lexington, Kentucky, for from 1985-89, teaching English at the University of Kentucky. My former husband was in Cancer Research there. Loved the Bluegrass State!🙋🏼‍♀️

    Question: why did you use the skidder as opposed to the wheeled trailer when delivering hay ?

      It pulls harder, so they get more exercise, which they needed at the time

    I 💛 the sound of walking 🐴 . They sound like they're wearing shoes. R they? R 2 🐴 don't have shoes. We have a quarter 🐴, ( Buddy) & a mustang. Montana aka Tanner. He was captured in Nevada. (U can take the 🐴 from the wild, u can't take the wild from the 🐴) The best 🐴ive ever had. I've learned so much from him. Haha sorry I can't help telling another pple about them. It's so nice of u 2 gift ur new neighbor with hey. I know how much it is. What do u feed ur 🐴s. (Always looking 4 things 2 try {4 a change}) Also Thx so _much_ 2 u & everyone whe works with u, "long distance hugs 🤗 Stay safe, stay strong,Stay same. 💜👏🏻🙏

      Yes the horses are wearing shoes. Glad you enjoy your horses so much, they are beautiful animals. We feed our horses hay and straight oats. Stay safe!

      @@WorkingHorsesWithJimr the clues? They see 2 small 4 perch. we feed alfalfa hey, Bumudada hey,rolled oats,sweet feed (as a treat),corn,bran. & of course pasture grass. They can choose 2 be in the or not (usually don't). @ night we put small alfalfa piles all around the pasture 4 them 2 find duringthe night. We like 2 give them choice. We also have 2 water "holes". One of them heated.
      ❤ talking 🐴. I'm grateful 4 everything ù do not just now but always.
